    I went from supersports to supernakeds when i turned 40 thinking now i’m old. Just turned 51 and traded my KTM 1290 evo in for a 2024 S1000XR. And i absolutly LOVE it! It can hang with the best of them in the twisties and then take me home in absolute comfort. Perfection!

      That's awesome! How long have you had the bike? I have a perception (probably incorrect) that bikes like this are just much more expensive to own, as far as scheduled maintenance and such. What's your experience been like with that? Thanks for sharing and stopping by!

    Interesting bike, tried a friends for two weeks and didn't gel with it, great in a straight line but squirrelly when pushed hard in the bends. Many of the people in my riding group got or tried this bike , mainly due to the hype, most went back to other Beemers or Dukes, Ktm's etc, strange that in my part of the world , many are for sale, less than two years old and low mileage. My friend who is a GS fan, got rid and went back to his GSA within four months yet he has an R1 for crazy and track days.

      Maybe the one you were riding the suspension wasn't in dynamic pro. Mine is rock solid in the twisties and straights. More so than my previous KTM superduke GT.

      Not a bike to own outside of the manufactures warranty unless money is no object. People find this out after a few trips back to the dealerships - hence many low mileage examples for sale. For me reliability and dependability are at the top of my list because I cannot afford to change my bike every 2-3 years keeping in warranty.

    Great vid! Taking a hard look at the 24 MXR! I have a 2018 GoldenWing DCT, non tour, best touring bike ever made, a 2010 VFR 1200F DCT, 170bhp and addicted to that motor, and a 2017 VFR 1200X DCT, the off road version of the F but tuned way down. I believe the MXR will be a perfect combination of speed and comfort for sport touring that I’m looking for! Subscribed! Ride safe…

    I'm 6'4" and the XR doesn't give someone like me many seating options. You have to sit in one place and cant really move forward or back on the seat, like I can on my R1250RS.
    Love the engine, hate the ergos .

    • @ghostontwowheels
      @ghostontwowheels  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, I can see that. I did notice the seat kind of cupped my butt (oooh), which seems more for performance riding, but I can see that being a hinderance for longer distances when a little shifting of the backside can help with the comfort. Completely agree with the engine comment. I didn't hate the ergos, but again, I didn't have enough saddle time to feel out the distance. Thanks for checking out the video and giving some feedback! Ride safe bud!

    Got one. Love it.
    Tough to stay within legal speed limits, however.
    The higher, more commanding seating position of the XR makes this bike the Sport SUV of sport bikes…
    So much fun!
    (Maybe too much at times.)
    Although the GS is more comfortable… I’m simply not old enough for that sort of bike yet.
    XR is the perfect weapon for fast, fun, comfortable commuting, with a dash less ‘dad-bike’ appeal than the GS.
    Enjoy & Ride safe. ✌️😎

    • @ghostontwowheels
      @ghostontwowheels  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, basically. I don't know what the long term comfort would be for touring, like after 100 miles or a couple hours, but it's definitely got the heart of a sport bike just with upright ergos for comfort.

    • @nomsi4263
      @nomsi4263 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nomsi4263 nah, I'd say it's a S1000RR without the sportbike lean. It's a different characteristic since it's an inline 4 cylinder, where the 1250's are the boxer twins, so they are more torquey.

    What throttle response are you talking about? It doesn't look like you've gotten anywhere close to the actual powerband in the video. There's really not much going on below 7-8k. You can yank on the throttle in lower revs or midrange, and nothing happens unless it is tuned.
    Same with braking from low speed to a skighgky lower speed, and not having any quick corners here.
    They really don't want you to enjoy yourself, push the bike, or discover its downfalls on a demo ride. When I have a demo/used ride, I just leave the dealership for half an hour to an hour, or less if i really don't like what i am experiencing.

    • @ghostontwowheels
      @ghostontwowheels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The initial throttle response when rolling on. On my Versys there is a noticeable response difference between Rain mode and Sport mode, just trying to observe what, if any, difference there was for the XR. I know that demo rides really don't fully test the bike... but it's the initial sample. Want more involved demo, you gotta schedule that yourself, like you said, to test it. But I fully disagree with your statement on "they really don't want you to enjoy yourself". They do. That's how they sell bikes.
      Regardless, thanks for stopping by the channel! Ride safe!

      It may be overhyped, and it's overpriced for my budget, but it's still a fun and powerful bike! I disagree it's a POS, but underneath your comment I would agree that there could be just a higher cost of ownership with maintenance, and there is a lot of faith in Japanese reliability. Tracer is a great bike! Thanks for stopping by!
