1st LIFE:
Use AKO'S SPIRITFALL while the screen is about to end loading. This will make you use the item asap before Owl runs at you.
-Ako's Spiritfall makes the OWL BOSS FIGHT a lot FASTER because it BUILDS more POSTURE Damage when you perfect PARRY so technically it is optional.
- It is DROPPED upon defeat by the HEADLESS in the dark cave near the Underbridge Valley idol in Ashina Outskirts
Next, LURE Owl in the CORNER so you can cheese his a**.
To START the CYCLE to EASILY DEFEAT OWL, while he is vulnerable, hit him TWO times -then PARRY ONCE. After this only HIT him ONCE and PARRY ONCE each time and the cycle will repeat until he jumps backwards.
- When he jumps backwards, hit him twice to start the cycle again.

2nd LIFE:
-Start with Ako sugar again.
-Followed by using CONTACT MEDICINE. Contact medicine is optional but what it does is NULLIFIES the EFFECT of owls POISON so you can ignore it and fight him as normal. It still drains your health but at a much slower pace than OWLS POISON.
- Begin the fight by using shinobi firecrackers as soon as you approach Shinobi OWL in the Corner and then the rest is the same as phase 1.
- If Owl STOMPS, ignore him and just restart the cycle by 2 hits and then parry once. (You can also hit him once before he stomps for a free hit)
- If you want to use FIRECRACKERS before he stomps, this works too but I find he often ends up escaping but using fire crackers is a good way to start the cycle again.

Key TIPS for this video:
- 0:04 keep Rewatching from this point where I get him in the loop.
- All you need to do is wait for him to attack you.. then evade to his side and attack twice.. the 1st hit will actually land, your 2nd hit is the one he's gonna block. once he blocks, you have to parry the the next hit for the cycle to start. (as long as he doesn't jump back at this point).
- Forget about getting him in the corner for now, you can force him in any corner your facing once you got the loop.
Took me about a dozen tries to get this down, but when I did, I did it without getting hit. Great great strat.
Awesome. I know it's not as easy as dropping a boss off a cliff lol it takes a few practice rounds to get used to the repetitive rhythm. But once you got it, you realise it actually works 😅

I'm on my first ng+ run and I was trying to cheese him, ended up accidentally beating him on the same try that I was going to try the cheese. I guess leaving the game for a few days and coming back really works.
man that always works. I wasted couple hours trying to get a no hit run on owl father once.. took a break came back and did in in 2 attempts.
This fucking fight has been an impassable mountain for me for like 2 years now for real. I just cannot beat this guy no matter what.

I found after he does a spin leap in the air i just went around the back of him with mortal draw, i kept baiting that move and moving around him until he done it , works in both phases. The contact medicine is a good shout though
Thanks. yeah that seems like a good strategy 👍 when he does that spin in the air, I also walk around him, and if you hit him until he blocks, then parry his next move.. this cheese loop starts.. try it out next time.
And here I am two weeks later on NG+, having gotten the Shura ending and reloading, this strategy still works. The cycle of 2 hits-1 deflect-1 hit-1 deflect...is way more important than cornering him. If your deflect timing is decent, you'll down him in no time. He took me half as many tries this time.
Glad it helped 😅 I wasn't sure if it was too complicated but it seemed easy to me. But your 100% right.. Once you've got the cycle down, you can push him back into which ever corner your facing.. So its more important to just get the cycle going.

Honest to god these videos are so much more impressive then the people who just stand in place and parry while occasionally jumping mainly because a shinobi is a master of deception and analysis meaning finding the way to quickly dispatch your foe in the most efficient way possible while posing little to no danger to yourself is the goal 😂

Does dragon heritage give you soft skin or are bosses unreasonably tanky?
You need to kill a headless for Ako spirtfall right? I’ve only killed the underwater one and I hate headless so much. I want to tackle them again but there so annoying but I should be able to with the purple gourd.
that's right. you can use the ako sugar limited version. farmable. but you're right. It will stun them
Sometimes long enough to get their whole hp bar down in one go (also use divine confetti and ako sugar)
How do i get better at deflecting 🤔
lol practice my friend. but what helped me literally destroy this game was when i learned rhythm... enemies attack with a rhythm you can parry to. stand back and quickly learn the rhythm and your gold. if you watch one of my boss fights or shorts, i use numbers on each parry to show the rhythm. e.g. a boss might attack in pairs of combos so, 1,2 pause 1,2 pause and the last combo might be 3 hit combo so just smash parry 1,2,3. hope that makes sense.

if he went through your guard, it sounds like he broke your posture bcz you didn't parry at the right time. also, don't worry about getting him on the corner at the beginning. just start it anywhere, and then you can push him back into whichever corner you're facing.

I'm tryharding for the tengu's outfit but I died a lot on that boss. So I watch your vid and try it, but when I put him in the corner he spamm the jumps until he get unstock and I can't start the cycle. What am I supposed to do when he spamm the jumps ?
If he jumps backwards, always attack 2 times and then wait to parry him. (The 1st attack will land, but the 2nd attack he will block, then after this, wait to parry him). But if he doesn't attack and he spams jump again instead, then just hit him 2 times again the same way and wait to parry. A few practice rounds and you should get used to it. I hope that wasn't confusing.
Aren't headless are the easiest mini bosses though... Divine confetti and Pacifying agent works great.. It'd take 30 seconds max for each headless...and for underwater headless, you've to read his 2 movess

kind of works , sometimes he will throw firecrackers , just dash in or block . Also when ur posture breakes cause u missed a attack , dash back to remake the combo
Takes a bit of practice. Even cheesing in this game requires skill lol. But as long as you can take some part of this strategy it into your fight, I'm sure it will make your battle easier.
This boss doesnt leave a single opening for me to do anything...

This is not working for me i cant get the cycle
The KEY part is this.. The 1ST HIT has to actually hit him, as in he DOESN'T BLOCK it.. Then the 2ND HIT he will BLOCK.. Once he blocks, that's your time to parry the next move and the cycle will start.. so.. parry-hit parry-hit etc.
When he jumps backwards, he's vulnerable so you will actually hit him again and he won't block, but again the 2nd hit he will block. Once he blocks, get ready to parry.. and you know the rest.
You can get lucky and just do it by accident but this is a sure way to lock him in!

Still works with some extra personal tips, you can start this with multiple moves Owl does, the flip move shown in video,
Also the combo where he finishes with a quick 1,2,3 hit, if you’re fast enough you can just hit him until he jumps back and then dash hit into him with 2 swings, combo started again.
Also firecrackers still shred, any time you mess up or lose it, firecracker, 1 gourd heal and start again.
Also do not hard focus corner at first, it will come naturally if you’re in the area but without it you can still do this strat and win just gotta make sure you dash hit (mentioned above) every time he jumps backwards.
Last notes are, using ako’s beginning of phase 1 has a 50/50 chance he will start with flip move or the fast dive slash combo into anti-healing bombs, do not be afraid of bombs unless your out of revive because if done right he will not get a chance to hit you again.
If he does quick slash into bomb, throw firecracker, otherwise dodge.
Also use contact meds immediately after phase 1, then throw fire cracker to start combo
( you generally won’t have time to pop ako’s as well without taking serious damage and him leaving the corner )
Last thing, when he stomps and smoke stun, DO NOT MOVE. Just stay looking in his direction, press lock on till it locks and then two swings starts combo again (keep in mind you will probably get hit with anti-heal during this so if you’re low, jump once and you won’t get stunned then sprint across room to heal, make sure you keep lock on though bc he’s very fast when coming up behind you.

yup. he's a hard B*****D 😂 It's like they designed this game so only the skilful players can beat it. The Rest have to try really hard or cheese.
@@juicybossfights I wouldn't say hard boss but this version doesn't leave any errors to exploit except for the shurikens followed by the jumping overhead slash attack. He's my least favorite boss. I'd rather fight Guardian Ape 2 then this.

Doesnt work for me, if he jumps he will not attack me again with his sword, just shurikens and he wont get close to the edges...
Dont try to get him to the corner at the beginning. Just focus on starting the loop, then just push him towards whichever corner you're facing. once he's backed into a corner, if he jumps back, you just need to hit him either once or twice and then parry again. if he's got too much space to jump back into, then he can get out.

its not patched. don't worry about getting him in the corner. just start the loop anywhere on the stage. Once you've got it started, you can force him back into which ever corner your facing.
I find the easiest way to start it, is by waiting for him to attack you, and dodging to his side, then just attack him until he blocks (usual 1 or 2 hits). The moment he blocks, stop attacking and make sure you parry his next move. That will start the loop.

hmm. once you have him in the corner, the moment you realise he's jumped, you just gotta slash him. Maybe you was a bit slow. Also don't focus too much on getting him in the corner at the beginning. Just start the loop anywhere, and you can force him back to which ever corner your facing.
tbh, you don't have to fully cheese him, but if you just keep using this loop throughout the stage, you'll be able to take him down in a more normal way.
In ng+ it doesnt work anymore like i tried doing it many times but failed. But i tried it in ng and it worked.
hm. i did it recently. ng+3 still worked for me. I'll admit it took longer bcz they have more hp and hit harder so that did make it a bit harder

@@juicybossfights i just beat owl took me like 7 trys after watching the vid. i had issues getting him in the corner but just doing a 1hit 1 parry combo keeps him from acting too crazy too often in the fight and got me through it
@Jo_Rogan I'm glad you got something from the video. You're right.. once you know this strategy, you can use it anywhere on the stage, and it just makes the fight less crazy 😅 I just did it in the corner to fully cheese him for video purposes.
This doesn’t really work when I try it. I can make some hits but then, he uses the firecrackers and everything is over
instead of focussing on getting him in the corner, try it anywhere on the stage. it still works and you can do a lot of posture damage. the only issue is when he jumps back, you'll have to start it again. that's why I aim to push him towards a corner.

Bro what i do when i do 2 slashes he jumps backwards
if he jumps back and your not in the corner yet, you will need to start it again. what I do is, wait for him to attack you, then just dodge to his left.. then hit him until he blocks.. the moment he blocks, stop attacking, and make sure you parry his next move, then it will loop again.
if your in the corner and he jumps back, same thing, just hit him until he blocks, (after 2 hits if your quick, after 1 hit if you were slow) then parry and it will start again.

Are you playing on old patch? When I try to get him in corner and make this 1 hit 1 deflect thing, he kicks me and jump + suriken toss, then he runs to the left side of me. He simply hit you after your deflect, but after my deflect he start his nasty ninja combos, sometimes even firecrackers.
no. latest patch. it hasnt been updated in over 2 years. easiest way to do it is.. dont try get him in the corner, start it anywhere on the stage. start by waiting for him to attack you. just before he hits you, evade behind his left side, you should be able to start from here. first hit will damage him, 2nd hit will start the cycle. then you parry etc.. you can push him back into whichever corner your facing
@@juicybossfights lol, after trying 10+ times your method, I've learned his patterns and beat him in classic way. Took me 4 fights, but when I won, I only used 3 healing gourds and 2 akos. Thanks anyway)

it does. my advice is wait for him to attack you, and dodge behind him, then counter hit him until he blocks. the moment he blocks, you parry hit parry hit etc. and try push him into a corner at the same time. Try do it anywhere on the stage first just to get used to it.
Honestly this boss is considered the easiest boss ever, I did him legit on my first play through but on my second I realised you can just run around from a far distance, wait for him to do an attack and then you’ll have a 2-3 second window to use a mortal draw on him, then back off and do it again. His second phase is exactly the same just make sure to parry whenever he does that smokebomb attack bc it’ll stun you momentarily
Good technique. Unless you find a good tactic quickly, he can be quite tough. does some serious damage too so I can get why people struggle.

Figured out a cheese just run until he does his jump and hit him with mortal draw rinse and repeat also have fire crackers every once in a while toake his death a little faster thats it i finished him easily.

i always run out of posture
Can anyone tell me why his posture bar goes down quickly? Mine doesnt do that at all. Just builds up
I used Ako sugar as soon as the battle started. They are farmable from monks in senpou temple. It increases the posture damage on enemies when you perfect parry. You can buy skills to make it last longer as well. Also if you get hit, owl recovers posture so, easier said than done, but try your best to not get hit, and build up as much posture as you can without letting him recover.
I tried several times, and he jumped out of the corner. Im on ng++ and find him to be very fast. He whiops me every time. Lol😂

He never does that exactly or even close to doing what he does to start my fight with him.
The first thing to do is use the sugar, then no matter what he does next, just wait for him to attack you, and just evade around him (dont jump). then start doing the cycle anywhere on the stage, it will work and you can push him into whatever corner your facing.
Basically you can do this anywhere on the stage.

Don't bother getting in the position, just start it anywhere on the stage because once you start it, you can slowly push him towards whichever corner your facing. I find the easiest way to start it is.. wait for him to attack you, just before he does, dodge behind him and counter. usually works. Once you got the cycle down, its just repetition, after a few attempts you should get used to it.

The posture damage isn’t adding up for me as well it seems, I’m 8 attack power
8 is plenty. You using ako sugar/spiritfall? it increases posture dmg. I use divine confetti too because it chips away his health every time he blocks. the more hp you take off him, he'l recover posture slower. But i'd only use it once you got the method down. (or do usb save back up so you don't waste items).
Also if you get hit, he recovers quick too.

I executed the guardian ape.. thought i have evolved as a shinobi... Went back to the Gyobu memory to verify. He killed me like a dog.. nothing changed😔

Is ako's spirit fall necessary
Yeah.. because it increases posture damage given as well as health damage. it last 30 seconds but if you buy a skill from the temple arts, you can increase it to 45 seconds. Obviously you can do it without it, but you'll have to parry for longer, which can make it harder.

I made a newer video using mortal draw. linked in the pinned comment. might be worth trying. one way is just wait for him to do his double shuriken and slam attack, dodge it and mortal draw him, then keep running away until he does it again. long but works.
Doesnt work for me.
It can be confusing to get right. getting him in the cycle is the harder part. hit him once or twice until you force him to slice at you, deflect it, then only hit once and parry once and repeat. Should work bcz its not a glitch, its more so taking advantage of the game mechanics.

@Claudio Severino nah bro. never give up.. its only a matter of time before it clicks for you. check out my other video on owl, i beat him without getting hit with demon bell but I use numbers on the parries to show the rhythm.. You just gotta learn his rhythm and parry and then attack when he's vulnerable. Also i learnt this late but its better to fight aggressively.
@@claudioseverino5790 Sometimes a couple of days off help. Once you're too angry, it's usually better to stop. Practice with easier but similar enemies to improve the timing of your deflection. Or watch videos of this boss fight and think about what you should press (e.g. "block, hit, block, hit, mikiri, ..."). You can even pick your gamepad and press the buttons while watching the video. You learn better in a relaxed state of mind.
And if you decide to quit, that's no shame. It's a good thing to think about which endeavor is worth the occasional frustration and which isn't. In other words: pick your battles wisely. Sekiro is for people whos ego is based on gaming. It's certainly not a bad thing to set priorities elsewhere, in the real world, and chose games that entertain you.

Hey quick question man does higher fps = better and easier deflection?
@zonex3212 I think its personal opinion but to me.. Its a rhythm game. so when you play lower fps, you will be used to that rhythm/speed. vice versa if you play higher fps.
Higher fps everything is smoother so it feels a bit faster so you might feel the difference at first, but as long as you keep rhythm in mind, you can adapt quickly.
In this sense, I don't think it makes a difference as long as you don't keep switching between higher and lower fps.
The games about timing and parries, so I find it slightly harder if its slower bcz I gotta focus even more on timing.

I usually don’t like cheesing but in this case I’ll gladly do this as I don’t find the fight enjoyable and he’s a pain in the 5-boss severance gauntlet. I mean I’ve beat him many a times (even with bell demon) but don’t want to go through it repeatedly. I even find the owl (father) fight more enjoyable as he doesn’t have two status attacks that force you into passive mode.

considering i cant even get it to work since he wont start with the 2 shuriken jump slash then i lose all my hp in 1 combo, no i dont think it is

Edit2: got the cycle to finally start (not in corner unfortunately, it worked for about 5 seconds till he jumped back and when i tried to hit him again he 2 slashed me
Edit3: yeah every time i get it to start he just leaves with a jump, even when i get him against the wall and i cant restart it because he jumps away from the wall

Isshin is tough, but after getting through most of the game and having max health and upgrades etc, you'll be better prepared for that battle. This owl geezer hits hard at a time where we're just not ready. Using the moves in this video can really tone down his moveset making him easier. But you still got to get good. 🤷♂️

This doesn’t work at all he doesn’t even open with that attack ever for me and you can’t even stun lock him for shit
All you need to do is evade to his side after any of his moves.. Easy one is when he jumps and slams down in the air.. evade behind him.. then hit him until he blocks.. once he blocks, you need to parry the next hit..
the loop will start.
Then you can slowly back him into whichever corner your facing.

Wait for him to attack you, then evade behind or to his side, hit him until he blocks. the moment he blocks, you need to parry his next move.. That should start it.. then slowly push him back to whichever corner your facing. This alone should be enough to kill him.

For those, like me, who could not make this cheese work, here’s an alternative that worked for me:
-Keep running around keeping a distance the entire fight. This will typically bait 1 of 3 attacks for Owl:
… his charging horizontal slash ; for this, just jump over and out of the way (jump in the NorthWest direction / 10-11 o’clock)
….. his shuriken throw into a horizontal slash; for this, just jump in the same direction
and
…..his shuriken throw into a flip jumping downward slash; for this, just dodge to the side and hit him with the Mortal Blade
-Just keeping running around at a distance (i personally kept going left), and use the Mortal Blade where specified. Rinse and repeat on both phases until he’s down 🤙🏽
*side note: if you get caught by Owl’s smoke bomb, just keep jumping directly backwards*

I have a mortal draw tactic that works great. I can easily beat him the normal way too, but that's after a lot of deaths because I just know all his moves now.

I have nothing negative to say about this video. It's a great cheese. I wish I could do it. Unfortunately, I couldn't. I had to beat him the old fashion way. If anyone is also having trouble, when the Owl does his double shuriken throw + jump, dodge and use Mortal Draw. It takes a good chunk of his health. The rest you have to memorize. Deflect, deflect.

Instead of trying to get him in a corner, it works anywhere on the stage so just focus on doing it in the middle first. Hit him 1 or 2x until he blocks your attack. Once he blocks your attack, when he reacts with a 1-hit counter, parry it.
Then it's basically hit 1x, parry 1x, Repeat.. he'll be dead in no time. Doing it in the corner just prevents his jump and makes it faster.

@Clickie13 true. thats why I do it a specific way in the vid. the easiest way to lock him in is, when hes about to hit you, dodge behind him and counter, your first hit will actually hit him and does damage, the 2nd hit is the one he usually blocks, and thats when he will counter with 1 strike which you parry. thats where the cycle starts. its tricky to explain.
This game isn’t even fun or satisfying, can’t even play it for 10 minutes
Its brutal at first, gets easier once you learn to deflect better. However, even with everything unlocked its a very hard game. Stick to the cheese tactic videos on here for all the bosses. After countless tries you will also be ablte to beat this amazing, but unforgiving game!
The more you play it, eventually it will just 'click'. Take breaks and come back, focus on learning the enemy attack patterns, they have a rhythm to their attacks. play it like a rhythm game with the parries and you'll get through it a lot easier.

Naah he is running cheats. Drains your posture in 2 hits.
Cheats?! 😂 There's a skill you can buy which reduced posture damage taken when being attacked from enemies with swords. Having more health helps too!

It's actually quite sad I spent 60 bucks on this game and I really want to like it but I'm find myself more aggravated than I am having fun I've beat many other souls like game but this ain't elden ring I like the fact elden ring let's you have builds and the bosses in this game are rage bait
I'm on Owl and I think I'm gonna take a break from this game and find something else sadly enough

Haha. Its always satisfying once you finally do it. I find that taking breaks and coming back later or the next day helps. There's still a few really tough challenges, but if you can down him, then you should be good to clear it.
