- Chinese jets recently "dangerously intercepted" a Philippine NC-212i transport plane over the South China Sea, prompting discussions on enhancing defense. Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. emphasized the need for continued sovereignty assertion and potentially using FA-50PH fighter jets for escorting patrol planes. With the Philippine Air Force currently understrength, upgrades to Basa Air Base are planned, funded by the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, to bolster defense capabilities. The base upgrade aims to support U.S.-Philippines joint operations and counter Chinese aggression.

Well its take the process practice, upgrade, repaired, etc... it is not slow this is good too, if pilot and repaired man doesn't know how to repair or pilot this model i guess is waste!

Phil air force should buy new versions of hhe FA50 another 12 units if the budget is low and the FA50 is ideal for the geography of the phil if we have 5 squadrons of FA50 newer version will suffice to defend air space of the country if cannot buy at least 12 mrf like F16 or Gripen due to budget i will highly recommend to continue to buy FA50 new version until either we have the budget to buy F16 or Gripen or SK KF21

Philippine want to expand her air force and navy. But their defense budget is severely limited, less than 1% of GDP, even for meager GDP. Simply they can not afford F-16 fighter jet. FA-50 is practical for such escort or intercept mission role.

The EDCA sites are military bases that needs an air defense system. That's what the Typhon missile system is for, the SM6 and Tomahawk missiles.

Production of jets from other country and training for the pilots takes 6 to 8 months.
Crew maintenance training sometimes takes a year.

the chinese bases were allowed constructed sometime 2013 by the US and even the philippines sold them reclamation materials for their construction. and this is one of the main purpose. it is now easier to get into war with china at the scs rather than getting into their mainland border with presumed strong defense systems. ww3 was planned in three fronts with the main theater at the middle east and they want to prevent russia and china from rendering fast and effective help so they want to have a war against china either at taiwan or spratly islands then tune up the ukraine war to keep russia and china busy. the philippines have made so many budget allocations that seemingly went nowhere but perhaps actually redirected to acquiring war materials.
