  • Many people are comparing the Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro, Ender-3 V2 and CR6-SE, their price range is between 179 and 399, some of them look very similar, some of them have new features. If you aren’t familiar with 3D printers, you may be overwhelmed by their specifications.
    In this video, I will do a very special comparison of all features one by one, most importantly, I will estimate the price of every single feature they added to the printer compared to buying an entry level stock Ender-3 and doing these upgrades by yourself. This will definitely help you find the best valued printer.

    It was pointed out on another site that the Ender 3 Pros being sold by Micro Center for $100 no longer include the Mean Well PSU. I checked mine and sure enough, it has a Creality power supply.

    Very good explain may I know is there any difference in printing ??

  • @treefrogjoness
    @treefrogjoness 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Great presentation, but I wouldn't recommend any 3d printer where the bed moves in the Y-Axis. When the bed moves in the Y-Axis direction, the printer has to overcome the momentum of the bed and the momentum of the object that is being printed. It's better to look for a printer where the nozzle moves in the X and Y directions instead.

    • @oleurgast730
      @oleurgast730 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is definitly right - but depends on the size of the printing volume and the weight of the extruder. You do not want different acceleration and speed in x and y - even with a direct extruder you would not be able to take control about the delay of the nozzles output and the e-movement due to viscosity of filament (unless you only print with carbon fiber or other filled filament).
      So if you have a heavy direct extruder, it does not realy matter if you move the x-axis (with a heavy printhead and weight of the x-axis including the motor like on an Ender 5) in y or the bed with the printbed as long as the printbed + the average printed object weights less or equal.
      This is the core engenieering idea behind the whole "bedshaker" design (mendel-style). Cost reducing with practicaly no downside. This is the reason Prusa printers have their bed size and prusa do not offer bigger sized printers with this design. They work at the break-even-point of this design.
      Any change based on this design - like making the bed bigger or the extruder lighter - is nonesense in a pure engeneering sense. So while an Ender 3 has it's right of existence due to allow entry into 3d printing - and tinkering and improving is fun for itself - it is a quite limited design. The only reason it still exist is cost reducing. So if you translate "value" correctly into "is it worth it?" the answer for an Ender 3 or Ender 3pro is "yes", esp. if you can do some upgrades yourself (like dual-z and direct drive and bed level sensor (film probe for about 1$) and silent steppers for x and y altogether for about less than 40$.
      But if you are out of the extreme low-cost segment, with a slight higher budget, you have to re-think the design.
      So my answer to the CR-6SE: It is not worth it. Because with that budget you already can go to a better engeneered design. (while upgrading an Ender 3 is worth it - because of the fun and experience, even if you pay more. Not worth for the printer you have at the end.)
      Of course, open source FDM-printing is changing rapidly. For example: As the Prusa mk3 was develloped, there was no geared extruder for 1.75mm available. So the enegeering decission to make a bed shaker this size was right. But starting with BMG and nowerdays the Orbiter, and also lighter coldends like Dragonfly or mosquito, even direct extruder printers aren't heavy anymore. So the break-even shunk to about 12by12 bedsize (below this size bedshaking still is the right thing to do).
      On the other hand with klipper and input shaping you can go up to 20by20 again.
      Thats the reason there is also a bedshaker Voron (with coreXZ kinematic). Size does matter if you choose a kinematic.
      Also the kinematic design is not directly affecting the print quality. It is affecting the quality/speed ratio. So while a Voron 2.4 based Jennyprinter with 410 by 410 bed has a higher quality/speed ratio than a Anycubic Chiron, this barly matters if you only need such size twice a year. Definitly not worth paying 4 times as much for a higher quality/speed ratio (but definitly worth it to spend some money for a better controller and diect extruder). (I ordered a Jennyprinter anyway a few days ago, but with 650by650by600 volume)
      After all, it depends what you need. Definitly I would prefer a Saphire over a CR-6 SE. But I wouldnt call me a beginner (while for an enthusiastic beginner a Saphire might be an option now, due to Auroras exelent videos). For a normal beginner the CR-6 SE is definitly better, even if it is a bedshaker. Also do not forget the kinematic is not everything. If you mostly use PLA , cooling is an issue limiting the speed anyway.
      I have about 26 printers: bedshakers, deltas, coreXY, crossing rod (work in process). If someone ask me what printer I recoomend, I definitly recommend a bedshaker (Ender 3, Prusa... depending on Budget) or an Ender 5 (plus). Because if he has to ask such a general question, he is not ready to build a Voron anyway, and I do not want to become his livetime coach...
      (but to just get a toe into the water: Monoprice delta mini. Very beginner friendly and it is so cute)

    Do the ender 3, 3 v2, and 3 s1 all have the same frame setup? I've only been able to look at pictures, I'm thinking of buying a broken 3 v1 off if eBay for the frame and bed then get the rest from other places to save a bit of money and also to upgrade it for the future. Are the frames the same?

      @@AuroraTech You wouldn't recommend a Ender 3 V2 for a beginner then?

    • @AuroraTech
      @AuroraTech  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If I have to pick one for beginner, I would pick Sovol SV01, it's $10 cheaper than the Ender-3 V2, but it came with dual Z Axis and direct drive, these 2 features worth $80, and more important than the color screen($30) and silent stepper drivers($20) on the Ender-3 V2 in terms of print quality. Just add a BLtouch bed leveling sensor and this printer should print pretty well out of the box.
      If you want to upgrade to more advanced motherboard, I have more videos to show you how to upgrade the SV01 to a 32-bit silent board with TMC2209 silent stepper drivers, enable sensorless homing, config WiFi module and add expansion board for even more features.

    Wait a minute. The video says it was posted 2 years ago. How come she's so small?

    • @daveseddon5227
      @daveseddon5227 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Really small humans are called babies and they mature over a 20 year period.
      As they strive towards maturity they go through several phases requiring many larger sets of clothes into which they grow.
      It's a strange process but you must have noticed varying sizes of what are called children in your neighbourhood.
      I think that Aurora is around 11 years old in this presentation - so about half way to full size!
      Please note that she will not be twice as tall by the age of 20! Confusing, I know.
      I'm interested to know how you do not understand these details - were you perhaps in a coma for the first 20 years of your life?
      It's now April 2024 and Aurora has been forced to wear larger clothes because the smaller ones wore out and were also restricting her growth.
      Aurora is now 14 and her brother, Helios, is 17.
      I hope this information is of some use to you. 🙂
