You said it, he was the best Eagle! His shyness, his smile, the little tilt of his head, his looks, and his beautiful voice will never be forgotten. I just hope he has peace at last. I dearly miss him.
This guy was a real talent. Just imagine if Glenn Frey and Henley were not such arrogant a-holes how much great music the Eagles could have created with Randy and Felder still in the group.
I just ❤️ loved him❣️ Loved his voice too beautiful and God given talent. He was the best of the Eagles. I keep thinking after him basically being pushed out, I wonder how many songs we havent heard that he wrote. I 🙏 pray he REST IN PEACE. Hes definitely going to be missed 😔
The more I listen to this song, the more I like it. Not sure why it didn't get more airplay when it was released. I do believe the record industry was not kind to Randy. Rest in heaven, sir, I am enjoying your songs now.
I have watched this many many times. There are alot of comments about the lady who is singing with him and are they in a relationship. I can see where everyone gets the impression she adores him but I see it completely different. Just a thought: We all know he has stage fright and 9 times out of ten sings with his eyes closed. As you can see in the video he has developed a few ticks both facial and his left shoulder raising, possibly to off set the stage fright. I think she is a source of grounding for him and by keeping eye contact he can look at her and remain present during the performance. Near the end, she completely looks away and he finishes the song. In any case, it's so nice to see him enjoying performing.
Actually, Randy has always had this cute thing going on with his shoulders, especially, when he was playing his bass guitar. This guitar is bigger than his bass,so his movements are a little different But, anyway,go to P Noe video of Randy singing Playing In The Deep End. It shows quite a few scenes where he's getting into the music and playing his bass guitar. He's so adorable in those scenes when he moves his shoulders.
In spite of being prone to a bit of stage fright, he was a veteran performer and a grown adult...I'm sure he didn't need a mommy to hold his hand onstage. The Lady singing backup was there purely because of her vocal talent, not as emotional support, I'll wager.
@timyarbrough6356 He took it well for many years being a team player. His demeanor is what impressed me the most about him. What a remarkable talent he was?
@@jefftownsend4483 Can you imagine if Bernie Leadon, Don Felder, later on Joe Walsh, along with the great Randy Meisner had 100% support from the two asses(Frey/Henley)??? The girls attention to Randy is quite telling, who can blame her. Notice how thin everyone was in the 70's, man those were the days & NIGHTS 🌃 Wish all the best to Randy, he deserved better than he got.💟
That's why Henley and Frey pushed him out. He was so sexy, devastatingly handsome and genuinely sweet. And he could sing like an angel. I was one if those slim girls who adored him!!
This is the first time i've heard Randy Meisner since he left the Eagles! I can hear in his voice and lyrics that he is/was way much more of the Eagles sound than he was given credit for! Rock on Randy!
The incomparable Randy!! After leaving the Eagles, the sound was never the same. It took Randy’s voice. I pray for him and hope he sees all these reviews!!
Yes boys and girls an actual real live tv performance with a real band. The mix is simply great!! Love the song since it first came out and I was playing guitar in bands. Randy was always and still remains my favorite from The Eagles. Love this.
Vaguely remember this, and hearing it on our local top 40 rock station. I remember hearing that he had left the Eagles. Then one night he shows up in a bar in Northern Nebraska, playing with a local bar band. I recognized him immediately, but other people there didn't believe me, that he was one of the eagles. Couldn't get close to him, he had these HUGE guys doing security for him. Sad part was he didn't play any eagles music at all. Me and my friends drank lotta Jack Daniels that night, didn't even get to talk to him. He's from Scottsbluff Nebraska, bout 50 miles from where we saw him that night. One of the most underrated artists of the 20th century.... Randy Meisner has always been a very gifted musician. In my opinion my favorite Eagle. Outstanding writer, singer, guitarist, and bassist. Thanks for your contribution to the soundtrack to our lives, Mr. Randy Meisner. You’re greatly appreciated. Love this whole album from 1980.... Start to finish!
Marty Albright I’m not sure Randy’s best would fill a cd. I love the guy, but the reality of his catalogue is what it is. That is, if you’re looking to sell millions. My favorite probably wouldn’t make your list. And vice versa. It’s ironic he was uncomfortable in the spotlight, and then had to front his own band. Seemed super nice, one of my favorite singers, bass players and Eagle. But if the record companies could have made a buck, they would have. And, BTW, I have his solo albums on vinyl. So I think I’m a fan.
SouthVA 757 I certainly agree with you regarding Linda. Although what little I’ve found on their few collaborations, not sure if it would go anywhere. But Randy and Andrew Gold in her backing band together would be something to see. Also check “ Black Tie”, I think they have one song on YT, “Learning (or Playing) the Game. I could make my Randy’s greatest hits and get a single CD out of it, but have my doubts about its mass appeal. E.g., one if not my favorite Randy song is “Is itTrue” from On the Border. Doubt many could hum that off the top, but it’s a favorite of mine. I have seen the Richard Marx and Timothy B TTTL, and the others out. Thanks for the response and info!
He's more relaxed here, no longer stressed when he was with the Eagles, sometimes you have to walk away from huge success to have a better peace of mind.
Deca Cards52 I read he delt with stage fright and didn’t like the spotlight of success. Music seemed a double edge sword for him. Beautiful voice. Talented musician. Deserved more success.
Being a performer like randy you must never be controlled by other members in the eagles band because you can’t simply perform at your best on stage this guys voice is spell bounding no wonder why he drifted away he is too good for others to tie down go randy
A member of two of the most influential band of our time, Poco and Eagles, pretty impressive. He is missed, a true generational voice, my favorite Eagle.
This song makes me sad for Randy, some say it says a lot about how he felt about leaving the Eagles. I wish he had had a better life. he is just so incredible and it hurts to hear about the pain he has had to go through. He deserved so much more.He is looking pretty good in the last few pictures I've seen him in. I hope Randy has found some peace in these last years of his life.So many people just LOVE him.
I feel the same way. I read someone's comment about Randy. He'd played as a back up musician with Randy. Said he has such a sweet soul. Down to earth. I know his health isn't good. He's battled addictions and the tragic death of his wife. I wish him PEACE. He was my favorite Eagle.
I so agree with the comments here. With Randy and Don Felder, there could have been even more great music. The Eagles needed Randy and too bad it came down to egos and money. R.I.P. Randy.
He was. He and I are from the same home town. In the early 60's he was in a local band. I remember how good he was even back then. Everyone could tell he was a special talent. And he was very shy and humble and yet he became a superstar. RIP Randy... everybody back home still love you!
The Eagles was my first real concert, but by that time, The Long Run tour was Timothy Schmidt's debut, and I never really cared for his contribution. Randy Meisner is a treasure, and one of the finest facets of the Eagles' history. I loved this.

Song of my life when I really needed it, but I didn't even know it, because the radio stations sucked around here and didn't play it, and I didn't yet own the albums. I got the albums when I finally did get away. I love all the songs, and I do hope he's seen all the comments.
None of the other members of Eagles came close to Randy’s voice, he was by far the best singer, his range was incredible, the best I’ve ever heard, spine tingling and beautiful to boot ❤
It's funny that Randy did not like being in the limelight when in the Eagles, but here he seems to be loving it, direct eye contact with the camera. Perhaps it was the pressure of Glen and Don's perfectionism that was too much.
John S Totally agree. Randy looks so happy and peaceful away from that pressure cooker. Doing his own thing, his way and loving it. Can only hope he finds peace again.
Yes agree! There seem to be a lot of pressure in the Eagles. Especially with Glen Frey. I here he was an absolute @$$ to work with. Randy didn’t seem to have the thick skin needed to be in the Eagles.
Randy Meisner and Dan Fielder are amazing imagine if they stay with the Eagles it will be so amazing wishing Randy and Don happiness and good health take care love both 💙💙

On this day in 1980 {December 5th} Randy Meisner performed "Hearts On Fire", "Got To Get Away", and "Trouble Ahead" on the NBC-TV late night musical variety program, 'The Midnight Special'... Surprisingly, he didn't perform "Deep Inside My Heat", for at the time it was in it's first of two weeks at position #22 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, and that would also be it's peaked position on the chart... The following month on January 18th, 1981, "Hearts On Fire" entered the Top 100 at position #65, seven weeks later it would peak at #19 {for 3 weeks} and it spent fifteen weeks on the Top 100... Besides "Deep Inside My Heart" and "Hearts On Fire", he had one other Top 100 record, "Never Been In Love", it reached #28 {for 3 weeks} on September 22nd, 1982... ♡♡♡♡ Looking at comments to this great song I see the comment about Randy appearing on NBC -TV Midnight Special on December 5th 1980. How ironic that today's date is December 5th. I totally adore Randy & his beyond amazing voice. He is by far my favorite Eagle. Most down to earth & best looking one as well. Eye candy Randy♡♡🐺🦅

Randy Meisner, gone but never forgotten

Never forgotten!!
Really the best Eagle, his voice, by far the best. Randy Meisner was my favorite.
Randy I just wish you'd known how many fans you had! You were the best of The Eagles. Such a sweet manner you had. RIP Randy ❤
Randy and Timothy were alike in many ways, beside being the bass player, high voice, songwriters.
@DMorgan72
Plus they had both been in Poco at different times. Randy after the Eagles. & Timothy before the Eagles.
This guy was a real talent. Just imagine if Glenn Frey and Henley were not such arrogant a-holes how much great music the Eagles could have created with Randy and Felder still in the group.

It's a shame
Absolutely agree, the Eagles lost a big part of their sound when Bernie and Randy left.
I totally agree.

The Eagles needed Randy more than Randy needed the Eagles. Fantastic song.
Rest in peace ❤
So true. Timothy B. Schmidt was ok. But could not bring what Randy brought to the group.
His kids needed him more than the Eagles and this band did. He had nothing to do with them. Such a shame.
Why did Randy Meisner have nothing to do with his kids, something must have gone really wrong 😮😢
How sad is that….

Looking at comments to this great song I see the comment about Randy appearing on NBC -TV Midnight Special on December 5th 1980.
How ironic that today's date is December 5th.
I totally adore Randy & his beyond amazing voice.
He is by far my favorite Eagle. Most down to earth & best looking one as well.
Eye candy Randy♡♡🐺🦅
