こんなにも澄んだハイトーンヴォイスで「ラストダンスを私に」を歌ったのは、ランディ・マイズナーだけではないでしょうか。
この曲のオリジナルは1960年、ベン・Ｅ・キングのいたドリフターズ。
ランディが10代の頃に活躍していた地元バンド『ドライヴィン・ダイナミクス』のアルバムもリリースされましたが、ランディの音楽的なルーツはR＆Bだったんですね。
ファーストソロアルバム「Randy Meisner」(1978年 邦題「テイク イット トゥー ザ リミット」)に収録されたこの曲は、まさにランディの原点を物語る曲です。

Randy made that band, his harmonies were spot on, and he helped Glenn learn how to sing on key. they never were the same once he left, and Glenn RIP could not sing TTTL, should have retired that song when Randy left!

Next to the brothers Gibb, I think Randy had the most versatile, diverse and the best vocalist of all the Eagles, though the late Glenn Frey would probably vehemently disagree. In my view, he was consumed with professional jealousy, not only with Randy’s vocals but the fact that he was the best looking of all of them and from my own research, one of the nicest persons you could ever meet. Many music critics have often stated that Randy’s ability to connect to his fans was a great ‘inconvenience’, for the want of a better word, to Frey. He was by far, the most popular member of the Eagles and always had time to chat to his fans. Randy could sing them high, sing them low, anywhere they had to go. What a sensational voice and human being. Just such a shame that he didn’t appear to get the help that he needed to help him with his demons. I look at him these days, and to me, he looks 97 instead of 77. I suppose that’s what addictions and poor self esteem can do to a person. Will always think the best of the remarkable and sensational Randy Meisner. 😊

You had the best voice, was certainly the best looking so the two with the egos ganged up on you. Now since it’s over at least Randy’s voice and Felder’s guitar were two of the best things about the Eagles. Both God given talents not deals made with the devil. God bless you Randy and Don.

I just came across this cover of one of my favorite songs...I've heard many covers....but this one just pierced me to the heart!! Wow...I had been a fan of Randy's since his days with Poco...(which I saw their debut at the Troubadour....about 1969....thx for posting.

Funny how I still hear their other songs on radio but wait forever just to catch them playing "Take It to the Limit". BTW, I can't even find the studio version, so heaven help the live version from '76 gets blocked or something.

Diane Johanson A friend of mine from L.A. says he's really not well at all. This makes me very sad. Such a wonderful, thoughtful and classy man. His talent was always overlooked because of Frey & Henley. Incredible voice. Especially his harmonizing. And his bass playing is second to none. Anyway, apparently the alcohol has caught up with him, and I was also told that he's been in and out of phsyc wards. I wish Randy all the best...
From the various pictures of him that have popped up recently, he’s been getting out and about, going to shows and the like. He reportedly attended an Eagles concert last year. It would seem he is doing much better in the last year.
