This was absolutely spot on. I really enjoyed the overview. I’m sure it will help many people with their decisions. Not that I buy watches to make money. I buy what I like to wear and hopefully keep until I pass them along. But I also want to know I’m getting value for money. Good news is - you won’t go too wrong with most any Rolex at retail. Thanks for the helpful information.
I just have to say this, you're the man. A pure sensible person giving advices which can help us preserve our money along with enjoying the watch. You're a nice person that's all I can say.
Unfortunately 50-60% of the market, their first question is: “Is this an investment piece?” So it’s a relevant video as that’s where most people’s minds are nowadays.
@@chadbailey7038 The problem is you buy a watch and it appears to go up 25%, who do you sell it to? A grey market site will lowball you. To make the profit, you have to make a private sale. I think your content is good. What annoys me as a collector is all of these people being offered these watches with nothing more in mind than to flip. Rolex really don’t look after watch enthusiasts at all
I've decided to buy my first luxury watch and I really love the datejust fluted with jubilee with blue dial. From what I understand this is the entry level watch so I won't even have to wait a long time to get it? Also, it's a great watch that retains its value (not planning to sell it but it's good to know it will maintain it's value in the future).
As someone who just wants to buy a Rolex to own one, this video makes me happy. The less money flippers make on these, the easier it will be for me to get mine when the day comes
On the money. The first video I've seen who tells you exactly the market with actual figures. 👍 I bet a few dealers are not too impressed.... Only buy a watch if you like it. It's really that simple. If you sell it down the line at a profit then double bubble win.
I just picked up a Blue Sky Dweller at Retail!!! Here's the Story: My Local AD's Rolex case was Smash and Grabbed. But they left The Sky Dweller! Lucky me. The only knock against the deal? No Papers because it was an Exhibition piece. The AD Gave me 5 Year warranty as stated on Receipt "The Same as Rolex".
That sounds very suspicious. Exhibition pieces have paperwork. Sounds like the ad filed it as stolen to got the insurance money then sold it without card.
@@colincelso9428 how would I go about confirming this? Should I contact Rolex directly? On my receipt the AD has provided 5 year warranty the same coverage as Rolex.
1. the first watch steel gold with black dial does not list for 12.1k, it lists for 14.3k on the Rolex website. 2. people do not buy these watches to sell, they buy them because they like them, so re-sale value means nothing.
Great video as usual , very transparent and honest as I know you are . Thank you for this video very useful for people being offered anything to get what they actually want and for you being truthful as to what they’re worth to flip . Thanks Charlie 👍🏻
Sea Dwellers? Walked into a local AD and they'd just gotten a Rolesor that morning. To me it blew away the steel (on display) so I bought it. They sell just about retail on the secondary. But I noticed in the states there are very few around relative to say a Rootbeer or... Forget about Subs. There's a ton of black sub 41mm. The watch wears slightly smaller than the Explorer 2 on my wrist. Really sharp.
I've also noticed , if they sell you a Rolex , that might be YOUR watch they are selling you. If you don't want it don't buy it, because you might not get offered anything else. One dealer offered me a No Date in 6 weeks ( which I wanted) The other took 18 months to call me on the same watch. I just sold a no date for $12,500 yesterday. They are still hot! Agreed on the two tones. They are just over list. Not a great flip
Smashed it out of the park as usual Charlie 🤘Another very enjoyable video, thank you. The only thing I'd add to your Datejust observation is that the mint green dial is slightly more sought after than the blue dial although you can't go wrong with either. Fluted bezel and jubilee FTW 😉
Nice to see the prices are coming down as an enthusiast 😊. Interested your thoughts on a Explorer 1 36mm? Im on the waiting list but no sure if I will ever get that call 😂

I agree. Folks are using the word collector too loosely. The overwhelming majority of THESE watches are not purchased for collecting. The new gold rush is watch flipping. The fantasy currency known as crypto, has the watch flippers smarting a bit.

This video was extremely helpful, thank you for making it , I am looking for one and had no clue if I was getting something that was going to be worth less as soon as I walked away or worth more . Now I have a much better understanding, Thanks again ! Have a great day !
This was a brilliant video. Between a YG DD40 Fluted Bezel Black Dial w/ baguette diamond markers and a YG DD40 diamond bezel (RBR) Black Dial w/ baguette diamond markers which would hold value better? If neither, then what would you recommend in the DD40 for Yellow Gold? I was told none of these would go under list price, so I am curious to know what your thoughts on this.
What are your thoughts regarding the Platinum Day Date with the smooth bezel and ice blue and diamond dial? As you know, the smooth bezel has been discontinued. My AD has offered me a brand new 2022. I am having trouble deciding. I think the smooth bezel looks more elegant than the new fluted.
For the DJ 41 if you have fluted bezel it can only be steel/white gold. Steel alone isn’t possible. Is the steel/white as good a buy? Plus is the bright blue, blue motif or Azzurro blue the best investment?

the thing that i love about this channel is how you don't cram in cringe af flashy transitions and edits of sports cars and rap music. just no-nonsense, concise watch wisdom, without the virtual signalling wank flashy shit that all the other watch channels love
Thank you it’s much appreciated
Hi Charlie, thoughts on WG Pepsi blue dial, is that an autobuy at retail? Used to have a premium even before pandemic.
Under list watch
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks Charlie, forgot about recent price increases. Agree better to buy it grey at the moment.
Great video. Any thoughts on James Cameron?
Yes buy great watch
What about YM 40 Everrose on Oysterflex? With all the 42mm YM been released I can see the 40mm getting scarcer. Thoughts?
You come across really well and professional !!!
Thank you i appreciate that George
Wow stumbled on this video and really interesting information!! Watched everything without skipping once!
Haha thanks a lot Dave, appreciate that! 🤣
Hi Charlie, would you buy any AP or Vacheron I may have or perhaps a part exchange? I have the Royal Oak, Offshore and Overseas and would like to perhaps trade one to buy some of your pieces on your shop. Thanks
Sure please contact me direct and I will set this up 👍🏻
Great video! What about the 136660 in black? not James Cameron which I know is sought after but my AD says can’t get me.
Thank you. Nice watch but for us a slower seller as all our clients want the JC unfortunately
@@thehonestwatchdealer thanks for confirming
This video was extremely helpful, thank you for making it , I am looking for one and had no clue if I was getting something that was going to be worth less as soon as I walked away or worth more . Now I have a much better understanding, Thanks again ! Have a great day !
Thanks for the video. May I ask how come theres no mention of the explorer 1? I got the call for the 40mm, should I say yes?
Thanks for the support mate. It’s a great timepiece, buy it if you like it, however, we’re currently offering under list price for that model 👍🏻
Great content! Keep up the good work. I am a fan. Greets from the Netherlands
Hi from the UK 👋🏻 so pleased you enjoy the channel.
Fantastic video idea mate! Great, vid!!
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it !
Thank you, glad you like it. I will cover this in my next release 👍🏻
@@thehonestwatchdealer Could you advise approximately when? I am really eager to see this :)
I prefer the smooth as the white gold has the fluted and being such a special watch it should look different apart from the dial colour.
I agree. Where do you see the value of this watch going over the next 3-5 years?
Cool Video. Just picked up a sub date. It's such a nice piece. I can see why those are so easy for u to unload. Classic.
Congratulations they are such a nice was arn’t they 🚀
@@thehonestwatchdealer love it. so clean
Great video. Your website and inventory are looking fantastic too.
Glad you like them! Much appreciated
For the DJ 41 if you have fluted bezel it can only be steel/white gold. Steel alone isn’t possible. Is the steel/white as good a buy? Plus is the bright blue, blue motif or Azzurro blue the best investment?
The blue, rhodium, Wimbledon, mint green and motif dials are best in the 41mm model.
