Strange! Charlie would not buy the black Explorer II from me! "I'll buy anything if the price is right." He just was not interested. I like to read comments from folk who have tried to sell watches to dealers.

Same experience for me with two watches I offered - so he is not honest on that point to be sure
I think the key is, if the price is right, and you’ve also got to look at the inventory that he has and what he can buy and sell for, unless you’re willing to take 20% on the dollar

@@frankdux5693I got one and I get compliments all the time or notice people staring at it. Also here in Canada it’s going for 12-13 grand it’s not an impossible feat but most people are not going to spend money like that on just a watch so calm down
Really interesting take on the types of Rolex buyers. I noticed that you didn't mention the Yacht-Master Blue & Rhodium (40 & 37mm) dial versions. I personally consider them amongst the most stunning and under-rated models in the Rolex catalogue.

Have a YM2 s.s. with a nice white dial. Love the countdown scale she has. Makes a great egg timer with flyback when I don't use the scale for regatta races.
Hi Charlie! Big fan of your channel (along with my wife)! Recently picked up a Datejust 41 Smooth bezel + oyster bracelet combo, in the mint green dial. Your analysis (and classification of the buyer) is pretty accurate haha, me and the wife were having a good giggle. Currently, my 50/50 daily watch alongside my moonwatch.

Good pick , in my humble opinion you should go to the white gold bling bling bezel ,personal taste it’s diferent , but they look much atractive and if you want to sell it , they go quicker

My only luxury watch is a Datejust with full jubilee bracelet and a fluted bezel. I've worn it daily for over 15 years and love it! It obviously looks great for weekend/evening wear, but I love it so much that I wear it any other chance I get too.

Wife bought her 1st Rolex from AD. 31mm two tone yellow gold on jubilee with diamond bezel. Watch looks discrete indoors under low light, but in the sun or bright lights it’s very noticeable. Great channel BTW!!!

What about the 116520? It breaks my heart how the ceramic Daytona has completely taken over and now the steel bezel is looked down upon, despite the fact that for decades it was the absolute darling of the collection, with buyers willing to wait years and years for an opportunity to buy one. Any thoughts on this?
Still very popular among the collectors! Though less durable than the ceramic for daily wear 👍

Maybe an idea for a future video, but it would be cool to do a video where you try on different models and dials to see how they look on camera. The Pikachu always looks great, but other model and dial variations would be cool to see as well

Had a steel & gold Daytona, but sold it to fund a Royal Oak purchase. I liked how it wore - never had a more comfortable, solid feeling watch - but just never bonded with it.

The thing with the blue Sub is that Invicta has the exact same watch, someone came up and said hey is that a Invicta watch? Sold it and got a Bumblebee Sub.

Proud to have a Blusey as my first watch from my AD as a 30th present to myself; stunning. I really want a Wimbledon and an OP 41 celebration to complete my perfect trio. Then if I’m greedy I’d like a motif datejust, a Sub no date, and one day a Daytona Panda or white gold.

I would like to wear a Rolex at my wedding, and at first was thinking about a full yellow or white gold. Do you have any tips for this sort of occasion? It can be any model or material too.

I have the black dial Panda daytona & a root beer. The only rolexes i wanted to own... how guys & gals spend so much money on 10+ rolexes is insane to me... u can literally get a tudor. Same quality for a 3rd of the price. If your going to spend that kind of money, get a patek, AP, vaserone or FP journe...
I’ve got a white dial Daytona 116520, I do want a Rootbeer next but not in the position to get one at the moment.

@@markusstevensakabiginfinit9523 I got mine from Ernest Jones in 2007 when it was still very difficult to get on waiting lists. I used to phone around for months on end putting my name down and then all of a sudden they started to call. Within 18 months I had 3 Daytonas (2 white dial and 1 black) And a DeepSea Dweller. And what made them purchases even better was the 10% Discount card that I had from being a shareholder in Signet group (£20 worth of shares) who owned Ernest Jones Jewellers. I kept a White for myself, Let my pal have a White, Offered the Black to another pal for cost price (he didn’t want it) so I sold it to a watch dealer for a £900 profit and also sold the SeaDweller for list (I earnt the 10% as profit) If I could have afforded it I would have kept them all. 🙁

Bought my first Rolex this past June… 2005 Bluesy and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Date with Diamond bezel for my wife …then went on to buy the 2023 Datejust with Mint green dial fluted bezel and oyster bracelet in July. August was a 2017 Datejust in white gold with a Rhodium dial and Jubilee bracelet. September was a 2023 Yachtmaster, October was a 2010 Polar White Explorer II (which was the one I went to buy to begin with back in June), and November was a 2008 Milgauss with a white dial …. The one that started it all for me, as far as buying a Rolex was concerned, but I never pulled the trigger on buying …. Went a little bit ham this year 😳

Yes it is a stunning model, quite a small market as it is such a rare dial - should be a good one for the future 👍
What? No honorable mention of the Kermit/Hulk/Smurf variants in the Sub family? Have a 2009 Kermit and a 2010 Hulk that is just fantastic. Both have a totally different wrist presence than the SS/Black dial. Not as blingie as the Bluesy, but a lot more rare to find out in the wild. ~The type of client who has the colored Subs appreciate the Tool Watch roots, love the modern color splashes, appreciates exclusivity, history, heritage, and is more than happy to daily wear them~ ...even if there is a Daytona sitting at home in the winder!

I want a white Explorer II to go with my Batgirl and blue Pelagos (daily). I don't think I'll ever get a panda. Jubilee bracelet more comfortable.
Also have a Breitling Aerospace that I've had for decades (old daily).

When u work with someone everyday, they r bound to notice ur watch. Once one person sees it, they talk about it with others and soon everyone knows about it.

Yes so with this being such a highly sought after model, it would be unlikely you will be able to get this model as your first watch.
You may have to build a relationship and buy a few other less desirable pieces to get offered this one down the line.

It’s just a huge turn off honestly when I know people are just looking to get it to flip it and make money.I got 16k saved, have 0 interest in flipping it and want to keep it for life so it just sucks to “lose” out to people who potentially are just buying it to flip it. What’s your best estimated wait time on a blue dj 41, fluted jubilee? That imo is the closest to a blue sky dweller so i would potentially go for that too.

The DJ would be easier to get than the Sky, however still quite difficult. Wait times would all depend on your AD so you would have to have a chat with them!

Great video! What about someone that adds a diamond bezel instead of the fluted bezel on the datejust or day date? Is that very rare for a guy to do and more popular for women’s watches?
It’s a tough one, increases the RRP and reduces the market drastically for the watch Can be tough to move on 👍

For me, have been very selective as well as very lucky in the selection of my Rolex watches. My first one I got is a 2950's Date just Bubbleback with Red numbers. I liked it because of my interest in things that are (VINTAGE) different but understood by others as well as not as common as the rest that others will buy for themselves based more on trend than taste. My next one I got is a 5512 Submariner I bought at a Pawn Shop for what I thought back then in 1994 was a lot ($750.00), but as we all know, is highly collectable nowadays. I do have a contemporary GMT II Root Beer, again because I liked the look being different from so many others I see so often. For something more subtle I wear a 1940's 14K Bubbleback with a sub second hand in 14K Rose Gold. Again for me it's not about status, but the artistry and the craftsmanship that goes in to each of these pieces. Although I like the flashier Day-Date pieces along with the Daytona's, they just draw too much attention from others and that's not something I'm interested in. If you have the means get the one that fits YOU !

Excellent video. There's just one thing I'd like to metion. Rolex being elusive to a big chunk of watch lovers has kinda changed what people would likely pick. Its like if rhe AD calls and says I have a sub (date) and I wanted a no date version, chances are ill just take it because I'm not sure if ill get the one I want anytime in the near future. So my first Rolex was the SD 43, followed by the explorer 2 polar and I'm getting a GMT master II sprite tomorrow. I wanted a Batman but I picked the Sprite on the jubilee instead. But the video is spot on otherwise if people had to pick without being made to wait an eternity. Hoping I don't regret my decision of buying the sprite instead of the Batman. Thanks for the video!

Thanks so much for your insight. I'm looking to buy my first Rolex as a daily wear and I'm deciding between a smooth Datejust with jubilee or oyster bracelet. Your assumption is a perfect match! Question though - does the Jubilee offer a wider range of bracelet fitment sizes due to the smaller link length? The only bad thing about my old Seamaster is the lack of micro adjust which is hell when my wrist swells, so I want my next watch to be comfortable.
Good choice! Yes I would say go for the jubilee, smaller resizing increments and some would say more comfortable! 🙌

Some great choices for Ladies watches these days are the Daytona range, slightly larger than the typical Ladies watch however they are becoming more and more popular as a Unisex watch 👍
I have to say, you are spot on! I have an 07' Sea Dweller which is my everyday, for the exact reasons that you mentioned about the Submariner. I dived offshore for 22 years and the watch was my treat to my self, and now I'm looking at a GMT Pepsi jubilee for its collectability. lol... that's too funny. Good Job.

I own Pateks, APs, my only Rolexes are a daydate and a Pepsi Jubilee. I’m a regular working guy with a decent job. How do I afford these watches? Well I don’t drink or smoke or live beyond my means (zero debt) and save hard and when I purchase a watch it’s euphoric! I don’t care about being judged or people commenting on my watches. I just ❤ mechanical watches. Buy what you like and wear those watches and enjoy them.
