I don't get it, why are there still salon equipment, decorations, and displays everywhere? I understand that crime was an issue but bad enough for people to leave thousands of dollars worth of equipment behind? Let alone the power being left on. It really looks like there was a virus outbreak and they were forced to leave everything.
That random dude you found at the theatre...he totally seemed like a creeper. He was stumbling over his words when you were making it really easy for him to simply agree with you, that he was there to "reminisce". I really caught a BAD vibe off him.

Shit, that would be a paradise if you were homeless. You could sleep so many people in there. The fridge worked, the power was on so the microwave and cooking appliances worked, and there was still plenty of stuff to salvage for money.
I have a feeling that man was not up to any good. He was stuttering and shifting side to side(and casually looking to the side as he talked indicating that he was lying). He asked if the projectors still worked and was disappointed when they weren't there any more. Honesty, he could've just said he was stealing stuff and it would come out a lot smoother, he was just a terrible liar (probably caught off guard) but idk maybe he was there and doing what he was saying but I just got off vibes.

this would be an awesome set for a zombie movie :)

there's an engine that save alot of power for electric power saving. this works for electricity cut off to save the malls light. that is also the reason why the light got burned. idk at my country they use that. umm alot of malls at my place use this generator.

Imagine playing hide and seek style paintball, complete with police riot gear protection, Kevlar vests, proper helmets, etc. That would be absolutely insane, it would be terrifying and exhilarating fun at the same time, they should take radio walkie talkies with them, they don't shatter like cell phones do. If they get into trouble, injured by the environment type stuff, they can chat for help.
Also helmet cams.

I love that I've found your channel. I love exploring abandoned places via TH-cam. I have a disability that leaves me unable to go out much. TH-cam has opened up a whole new world for me. It's so cool that you ran into that other guy. Such a shame that so many places end up abandoned, but interesting to step back in time & see what they're like. Thank you so much for all your hard work doing this for TH-cam. I'm sure I'll enjoy more of your videos.
Years ago a friend of mines father worked security at a closed hotel. Pretty much just like this mall. The place looked like they just locked it up one day and never came back. It was fully stocked. Happens more often than people realize.

Sometimes bankruptcies mean the power gets left on, but usually not for more than a couple of months. Not something I would actually use, but one of those hair dryers would give the den a great retro look..

Anyways, from your comments and the comments that Dan made, my personal opinion is the reason the power is still on in the mall, and it is somewhat accessible, is that it seems that the current owners of the mall would like the mall to Burn Down.
What I mean is that you, Josh, mention that the owners of the mall are waiting for the mall to sort of 'fall down' so that they can replace it with a Wall Mart. Also Dan happened to mention that, with the dead tree being left in the closed store, that "one match could light the whole place on fire"
My guess is that the current owners of the mall would like for the whole place to burn down do to and electrical fire, and then collect the insurance money, which would cover the costs of tearing down the mall and removing it.
Just my thoughts.

Sweet, don't usually get to see Dan in third person since he's always behind the camera and almost never looks at reflections. Must have been a great experience! I was really close to going into this mall as well, but I lost my nerve and then it was closed and locked up before I could go again.
Totally fascinating. I am shocked at how they just left... as if time stopped.
