    Great suggestions with a lot to think about. I don't have room for a lot of bins, so I do have my wool in shoe hangers which I hang from the ceiling. But after watching this I decided to take the wool and place it in large zip lock bags then put it in the shoe hangers. I also dug out all those sheet & blanket plastic bags I've been saving (I knew they'd come in handy one day)! This not only protects the wool but also compacted it. I like it! I can now pull down a bag with browns or greys (etc) and see what I need so much easier. Thanks Marie!

    My favorite containers are the Sterilite gasket boxes. Clear boxes with snap closure and a gasket to keep the bugs out. LOVE! Several different sizes.

    I've gone through so many different storage ideas as my stash grew. Leading to a real mess of multiple containers. Now I want to throw away all the various containers and go for clear plastic! So love the bling storage idea and it was such fun seeing that drum carder in action!

    • @kb9847
      @kb9847 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, clear bins seem to be the smartest. I have some clear bins, but I have some solid Rubbermaid ones too, but I have them labelled.

      It can be a challenge to get all matching. I even wish all of the handle colors to be the same, but EASE and FUNCTION are the most important. Have fun reorganizing!

    Great storage idea. I have most of my wool in $5 jars from Ikea with air tight lids. No bugs getting in there, but i like the idea of clear totes as well. I really like the idea of storing the colors together. I might have to rethink my storage....

    It's so funny that you did this video today as I have been racking my brain for days trying to figure out how to organize my wool stuffs. My kitty LOVES the wool and I had to learn the hard way that I can't leave any on my craft table. He makes himself a nice little nest and the wool kind of "melds." Time for the Cat Cave Kit? Thanks Marie - you all are so awesome!

    Thanks Marie for filming and posting. It seems like I am forever reorganizing. I'm a very messy felter. haha I save every kind of zip lock bag I get to store all my fibres in. Then I put them in bins. My Bin labels are: Scraps/WIP/Yarn/Fabric/Embellishments/Tools (ie carding brushes, wires, pliers etc)/Finished/Wet Felting supplies/Locks. I also have shoe holders hung on the door so I have fibres there to grab as well. They are organized into wet and needle felting fibres.

    I love Marie's hat! I want to learn to make hats like that. On my ever growing list of projects...Dang it, I really want a drum carder. But I for sure have NO room for one. I just need a bigger, more organized craft room. :-)

  • @barbaramcelgunn9811
    @barbaramcelgunn9811 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What a cool tool the drum carder is!. I saw beautiful sunsets in the example. I keep all my kits in a plastic container as well. Another use for the plastic containers is a tool box, for needles, soaps, browser, netting, plastic etc.. I would love to see a demo of the web and nuno wet felted scarves. These may have already been done? Thanks for the great ideas.

    Was here for Wooly Wed. and sad that things didn't go well, but I was almost hesitant to watch this replay because of my total ineptitude at decluttering and the fact that it's not just wool I need to deal with in my craft room. I was previously a paper crafter and my room was already a total disaster from all of that, but Covid has left me mojoless for that activity. Thank heaven for needle felting or I would have gone totally insane by now. I had to laugh at the comment about one's acquisitions far surpassing one's productivity because that is me! My wool is currently residing in plastic bags and boxes that sit in the unused bathtub/shower off of my craft room. For me it will have to be "baby steps" but I was THRILLED at the mention of the zippered plastic bags from bed linens and pillows because I HAVE SOME! I'm starting RIGHT NOW! Thanks so much! BTW, I covet your drum carder. LOL

    Hi, Good idea for storage felt on boxes but for me it needs a lot of place to stock boxes. My felt are in a big basket but I don't see very weel colours. It's an inconvenient to take one which is at the bottom of the basket. So I thinking of a way to take felt easily and which no needs much place. There is not many choices. If you have other ideas I will be interested. :)

    Hi im very very very new to felting and i wanna know, if i mess up can i still restart or is the felt/wool now unusable? Pls answer:))

    • @LivingFelt
      @LivingFelt  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends how far you have felted something... and whether you are needle felting or wet felting...what stage, etc. It's just not an easy question to answer with I ut seeing the piece.
