Just got mine, exactly the same one but the 2 tb version. Very easy to setup, just plug in and format it and then use as main storage, job done, witcher 3 installing on it now !

How do you get the format for games and apps because it doesn't show for me
+Gamerxl3 Gdanski try plugging it into a computer first then let the HDD format on the xbox. At 4:50 in the video, i press the START button to pull up the menu at 4:53
xbox one x kingston savage fury with 2.5 external case for me, but it keeps goin into a shut-down mode every 20 minutes or so...

+seaworldman879 I believe there was an update that changed a few things but your hdd shouldn't be an issue. Will look at this tonight to see if I can get you pass this nuisance. Also, in the video I mentioned plugging this into a computer before even starting to avoid a problem I had. Did you do that?

no worries my g. I've had that issue in so many other forms, lol. back when "thumb drives" were new, you had to plug into ONE computer before using it in another, ay-yi-yi!

I GOT THE EXACT SAME xhdd and im taking it back for the seagate for some reason when im transferring a game from internal to the xhdd it takes like 25-30 minutes just to transfer, plus iv have a few crashes when playing forza(only game i moved to the xhdd) on the xhdd
tony tony 25-30 minutes sounds about right. You're moving 20-30GB or greater in games. In this demo, ( th-cam.com/video/vU-xGg2Iz9U/w-d-xo.html ) my first few games took that long.
I returned it for Seagate and it took me 5 minutes to transfer bf4 including all dlc to the external hard drive Seagate

I'm having issue where I have put it on my pc reformatted it now xbox sees it as a media drive and I get no option to format it for games ... what am I missing? driving me nuts.
Check it back on your PC and use "disk management" to format the drive to NTFS, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure there is NO PARTITIONS on the drive. Some drives have hidden ones, I think 3TB or MORE usually have it. If you have a BACKUP drive vs a normal storage drive, u will have this issue where you may need to unallocate space and the xbox will use the larger of the two. LMK

If you took off the drive from the Xbox one will it still have the digital games in it or you would have to reinstall the games onto the drive again and does it work without wifi or you need wifi to use it first time buying one

Can you format anExternal Hard Drive without losing all the data on it?

+Dillan Cornejo try to plug it in and reformat it, maybe that can help. also try, turn the xbox off and not QUICK START OFF but ALL THE WAY OFF and try starting it w/ the HDD plugged in. Else... be THAT GUY and ask a neighbor "Can i just plug this into your PC/Laptop, it will only take 10 seconds."
Got the same drive after a good while my xbox wont read it anymore.. says low power..
Someone i knew had the same issue, i told them to power the console all the way off, they leave it on ALL THE TIME. Let it chill for a few hours, when you are out and about. That worked for my boy. Its still my main HDD, though i just added another xHDD to it... The XBOX does DUAL externals, so epic!

It's not giving me the option to format it. I've used this external hard drive before to put games on the wii. So the wii games are up there but it's not giving me the option to format it to download games on the Xbox
Same here ... I formatted drive and left it as raw on pc ... I plug into xbox and it treats it as a media disc and I get no option to format it. Did you ever get a reply what to do?

So I'm pretty confused about this absolute shit of a system Microsoft has created here. I can't believe a company this huge has some of the worst hardware issues I've ever seen. So I have a WD My Passport Ultra 1TB external HDD I'm trying to use to store data games and extra files on where I'd also like to watch my HD movies from that are more than 2GB file sizes.
My Xbox 360 won't recognize the drive unless it's formatted to FAT32 mind you, an obsolete format that Microsoft themselves claim to have been trying to move away from since like the goddamn 80's yet I still incessantly continue to be forced into FAT32 formats because it's the only thing their hardware and OS will recognize.
Now I have a SEAGATE 6 TB drive formatted to the Mac OS Extended journaled which my XBOX 360 recognizes just fine which I find odd considering no matter what I format the WD Passport Ultra to, the system won't recognize it unless it's FAT 32. I want to use my portable drive to be able to watch all my movies but I can't since the FAT32 format doesn't allow file sizes over 2 GB.
....I mean, it's not just me right? This does seem obscenely retarded for a multi-billion dollar corporation right?

can someone help me? i have a my passport external hard drivve i use for movies, i want to play it on my xbox one, before the new update (new user interface) it worked fine! after the update, notta, nothing, ziltch.... "no devices found" which is complete BS because it worked before and still works perfect on my computer. what the fuck did microsoft do with their update that wont let it work? how can i get it to work? my seagate i use for game storage works fine on the one, i have close to a tb of movies on my passport and i really dont want to risk losing everything so if someone has been through this before and knows how to fix it please respond to this comment
