How to Increase Xbox One Storage using External Hard Drive

- Hi, this video shows you how to increase your storage space for Games & Apps on your Xbox One & Xbox One S consoles by using an External USB Hard Drive.
It also shows you how to play the games from your external Hard Drive on another Xbox One.
You will need to get a USB 3.0 Hard Drive with at least 256 GB. The one shown in the video is Seagate 1TB (1000GB)which has more than twice the storage of the Xbox One 500GB as you do not have the whole 500GB for games & apps because the operating system takes up space. You can get the official Xbox external hard drive which is 2TB but the inside still uses the Seagate 2TB HDD which you can normally buy for around £15 less.

Thanks, this video answered more Xbox one external questions than I was looking for. It's amazing how these "tiny" Hard drives was forgotten when the price dropped in 2018 for SSD , 4tb and higher external powered drives. :)

The awesome part about this is that this will make digital games even better. When you get a new console all you have to do is plug the external hard drive in and download all the games onto your new console. The hard drive is like a holder for ALL your games. That’s so amazing haha.
Hi man, I have a question. I have an external hardrive and I have a Ps4. I have a couple games on it. I’m getting a Xbox though? Could I just plug it in to the Xbox and play those games? Will it let me?

I use my buddy's Xbox for gaming and he already had to uninstall the Resident Evil game, so now I'm thinking about getting one of these for him and one for myself, so that he can have his games backed up the way he wants, and I can have all the games I've purchased on one of these hard drives!
They're not expensive; a fraction of what the controllers cost.

I have a terabyte plugged into my xbox, I’ve used most of the space on it, what would happen to my games and stuff if I unplug it.
You can't play the games on the hard drive if you unplug it but they will still be on the drive. If you need more storage buy another 1TB hard drive and plug it in to another port.

Yes it will stay on the external hard drive but not the Xbox to use it it has to be plugged in.

@@obsidianwolf9995 In the video he meant that if you use the hard drive for games and apps it will format the hard drive so it means if you have something like old videos on your hard drive it will erase those so you can download games and apps on it.

I got seagate 1TB external Hard disk (back up plus) i just straight away plug in xbox one rather than plugging in laptop but unfortunately it's not detecting even its not showing any sign in display or storage in xbox one

It sounds like the External Drive itself might be faulty. See if you can connect up another USB lead to it just incase the original USB cable is faulty.
My Mate VINCE hey mate I got a sea gate 2tb hard drive today put it into the Xbox but won't come up with that pick music or games part
Try to reFormat the external hard drive to exFat on pc, I had the same problem at first then reformatted the hard drive. And comes up on the xbox first time.
You carnt use more than 1 memory bank. Hope I have helped :)
What happens 2 ur saved game data ?
marcos wells game data saves locally through your account. It doesn't save through storage. I hope this isn't too late
