    Quick tip: when downloading a game from a disc, disconnect from the Internet to dramatically speed up the process. While connected, the game will download from the net by default (which is way slower).

    Thanks for the video, made me feel good and made it simple to use. I plugged my hard drive in when the system was powered off and restarted the xbox one. It recognized the drive as a media server. I had to go into settings and manage storage to make it available for game and apps but the process was quick and easy.

    I'd rent out the spare room in my house but it's full of Kinect, Play & Charge and now an external HDD. As if the system wasn't large enough already. The only portable X1 option is Gaems Vanguard or Xbook mods. I wish they'd launch a slim and Hori comes out with an attachable HD screen like it did for the PS4.

    • @PaulAcevedo
      @PaulAcevedo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Matt Grant If you need a portable screen, the GAEMS Vanguard sells for $350-400 on Amazon and acts as a case for the Xbox One to boot.

    Just curious if moving all data, moves the save file as well? Or is your save data connected to your profile. I don't have Gold, so using the cloud is not an option at the moment. Backing up all my saves is very important. and want to be sure I won't loose all my game progress. So many hours lost. Just want to make sure I do every right in backing up everything.

    I already did this like a year or 2 ago. Got me this little 2tb external hard drive. I kinda wish I got this one because it makes your games run wayyyyyy faster. It is pretty awesome but I wanted to have enough money left over to buy a new controller. The left stick on my xbox one controller that came with the system was super unresponsive. I only had the thing for 6 friggin months. I feel like I should've waited and got this one though. Oh well I ain't spending a hundred bucks for faster load times, I already got my external harddrive. I have a My Passport pro. It works pretty good and does make my games run smoother. It is also pewnie compared to this one and runs soley on power from the system without the need of plugging into the wall.

    I have the same hard drive and I had already formatted it for my pc so I had to delete all of my files off of it and go to my settings, go to storage, and select the hard drive and press format. It would not give me a notification to format it but it gave me the option to open media player and look at the items I had in it.

  • @randybradley4151
    @randybradley4151 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Came here to see what I was doing wrong because I've went through 4 different external hard drives and they keep on becoming unrecognizable on my S. I'm starting to think that it's when the power goes out and it doesn't shutoff correctly. I say this because when the power goes out on my PS4 PRO when I boot it up after a power outage it comes up to rebuild the database and after it does that it comes up with the fact that the external storage device was incorrectly shutdown and gives you the option to repair the hard drive and every time it's happened it always works perfectly right after.

    3 things?
    I persume that will speed the xbox one up, if the internal has 100%?
    & what if the external device breaks?
    Will it still have all your details link to xbox live? So you just have to go through the long re downloading stage again
    Which i persume again, but you never know umtil you ask for sure

    • @PaulAcevedo
      @PaulAcevedo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +jjohnjJP Games load slightly faster from the external drive, as explained in the video. If the external drive breaks, you'll need to replace it. Your saves are backed up in the cloud so you can recover them that way. Your Xbox Live account info is stored on the system itself, not the external drive.

    My external hard drive keep cutting on while the console is off. I have it set in settings to turn off while the system is off. It sounds like it's scanning and turns on and off on its own. My Western Digital did that and eventually stopped working. This one is Seagate, 2 tb. I don't want to have problems with this new drive, should I do something else or is the drive suppose to come on and off while console is off? It has its own power as well, plugs into wall. Thanks for any advice you guys could give.

    Paul - I have the same external drive but in the 2tb size. My issue is that it never seems to shut down when the xbox one is off. The lights are a slow steady pulse even when off. I did a workaround and added a switch between the outlet and the external drive so that I have to manually turn it off and on. Question is do you have the same thing happen, I assume it's not how it's supposed to work?

    Why we don't get the mentioned storage like in this case 3.6/4TB, where those 400GB gone?

    Great video. So, I have one questions. How reliable is adding an external USB 3.0 HDD to an Xbox One console? I ask this because I read that doing this on a PC (for example, to install and run Steam games), the load startup times are actually longer than the local HDD. I don't own an XOne console, but I'm thinking on getting one.

      +Raul T Games install and run faster from external drives on Xbox One than internal, as explained in the video. On PC there are a variety of factors such as the speed of your internal and external drives, etc.

    Quick question if you game share with someone on another Xbox and you move games from the internal hard drive to the external will it disable that game to be shared with the other person?

    Got this very same hard drive have it installed on my Xbox one it's set for games & apps but when I try and move an individual game over its asking to move all, copy all, uninstall all, so if I click move all the next screen says I have to "finish installing before moving or copy", all games are fully installed on my memory ????

    I have a question...
    I'm not exactly how old our My Book is, but I do know that it's fairly new. It worked for I want to say about a month or so, but now it doesn't. It's plugged into the Xbox and everything but it doesn't show up as an external drive in the storage anymore... suggestions?
