    The best modification for a 6.4L truck is to get rid of the 6.4L and drop in a cummins. I love my powerstrokes, but the 6.4L is an engine i wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. At least the 6.0L is rebuildable and can be made reliable.

    • @mr0rgill
      @mr0rgill 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Wrong if you build a 6.4 right it can be reliable. Same as any other diesel. It comes down to how you build it

    • @JLCmike4014
      @JLCmike4014 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mr0rgill, if the block is even saveable. More often than not when either the #7 or #8 piston cracks or melts it also destroys the cylinder. Or somebody puts the 300hp tune on it and the motor kicks a rod. If it was my choice between the 6.0L or the 6.4L it’d be the 6.0L every time. Although i own a ‘99 F-350 with the 7.3L so that will always be my first choice.

      Funny I was behind a 6.4 today and it was pushing a ton of nasty white smoke (not coal) from the exhaust it was ridiculous. Tbh they're great looking trucks one of my favorite front end & overall body style but terrible design

      @@JLCmike4014that is only because most people are too damn stupid to own these trucks. And do not make yourself believe that a dodge is Any better, when stupid gets ahold of them they break. Oh a Cummins swap done properly is way more expensive than building a 6.4 properly. I have two 3rd gens in my shop right now because people tune and hook to gooseneck and haul heavy. One needs complete motor( block heads, injectors, everything). The other needs a minimum of a rebuild. Also don’t “a 12v this or that”. Only thing a 12 valve is good for us fuel mileage and reliability. You bring them up to modern power and they start breaking until you spend money. I’m talking reliably not just occasional use.

    6.4 is so bad that when I see a dealership offering a 6.4 for sale, I no longer trust that dealership for anything. A great condition low mile 6.4 should not be considered anything more than a Fummins swap candidate.

    • @Bodie2020
      @Bodie2020 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why? Of course never buy a 6.4 at more than wholesale or less. But I have rebuilt multiple 6.4 and have had great service from them. When you put the max force pistons and a few other things they are much better. Also never ever buy a used truck from a dealer.

    reliable mods for 6.0... Bulletproof diesel EGR, External air to oil cooler with external oil filter and bypass filter, coolant filter, Billet Water Pump, Headstuds, new dummy plugs/stand pipe/push rods/lifters and you have yourself a reliable truck. Water filter is absolutely unnecessary if you do the air to oil cooler. It's the water passages in the oil cooler that stop up. You wasted your money. Push rod failure is almost unheard of but never a waste of money. Your mods are for reliability and good to do but not for performance

    Nice random numbers you throw out there bro.. bs numbers on the 7.3.. but nice guess by reading the boxes on the parts.. My 6.0 that I bought new in 05 has been built with aftmkt big dawg heads, injectors, lift pump, regulated return, big non vgt turbo, fire ring'd heads & deck, arp studs, full 5in exh.. put down 254hp & 503tq stock, & 466hp & 1022tq.. I owned a 7.3 for 2 years before trading for the 6.0, there is no way you were making 450..LOL.. BTW 6.0 has no DPF only has an EGR, Deleting it adds no HP only keeps exhaust from being put back into the intake for re-burn.. & 6.4 is Twin Turbo BTW.. They are all dead, they have a block that is not able to be rebuilt.. Complete junk, they are very lucky to make it to 150k mi, unless deleted and left bone stock..

      I got a 7.3 and I gotta agree with you...just cuz the box says some numbers don't make that the case. Soooo much needed to get bulls running quick. I think max 500-600hp is doable on a stock bottom end. But you need , exhaust, intake, injectors, fuel bowl delete with fass fuel system, turbo, intercooler, better rocker arms for injectors, maybe even a performance exhaust manifold.....all that hoping your rods don't melt and you just might hit the 500-600 hp if you tranny don't blow up too 😅 oh and a high performance hpop too.
      All in all.... probably around 15-20k in mods including the purple tranny
