    I don't know how many times i watched these gesture drawing videos, i keep reviewing it everytime i feel i am a little lost, that i am not controlling the pencil. we are so lucky to have acces to such a content.thank you so much for this, most of my improvement in drawing is because of your videos.

    Yup, just the first stage where you develop the gesture. I explain it in my previous 2 videos

    Is it weird that I find the gesture drawings little peices of art in them selves. They are each so different and beautiful. Maybe its just me.

    If you look carefully, you will notice that even experienced Stan does a lot of wrong lines before the perfect one. The secret is that he's holding the pencil just above the paper, does his 'wrong' lines, without actually drawing... and when he sees that the lines are perfect, he lowers the pencil and Bam! Perfect line.

      It comes down to practice, when you start it may take you 5 or 10 minutes but over time and as you do it more you get quicker. If you don’t have a live model and are using pose books or similar is to have some way to automatically change the picture every 5 minutes. When I did life drawing our teacher would the model to change positions like that to force us to simplify the drawing down to just the gestures and not overwork them.

    I feel like you just inspired me. I have a lot of art blocks, cause I see so many incredible artists online, then when I find out there only 13 my mind is blown to shreds. I now know to seriously not underestimate people due to there age. I just started figure drawing at 17 but that won't stop me from practicing and becoming a better artist.

  • @ProkoTV
    @ProkoTV  11 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Definitely. You get to use your whole arm instead of just the wrist, which results in better line quality. Also, you can control the angle of the pencil to get thin or thick lines, or a transition from thin to thick.

    okay honestly This is something I needed to see. I always feel self conscious in my class when everyone has been drawing since they were young and I'm the only one who just started. I kept feeling intimidated and like I wouldn't be good at all. And no one has ever mentioned that they have only gotten started so late. Never put it into perspective before...

    Nice but why don't you start a figure from drawing the lines indicating gestures? In one of your videos you said that the best way to start drawing figures is to draw lines. You start here from the head like you knew already how the drawing is gonna be look like.

  • @khunthate

    OK I have two questions regarding translation of 'those important' points/measurements/ratios on your paper... 1) At 0:29; What have you been looking for (which body part on the model)... 2) Does it always differ, or do you always look for, more or less, the same parts (do you have a 'routine' for this?) Did you estimated the 'number of heads' (and or considered 'head height') to position those strokes and or.. umm do you call them landmarks?
    I really would love to know have these kind of basics of construction (when drawing from life, or a photo).... any suggestions on a tutorial or a class?
