Even though I’ve been drawing for 19 years I never actually sat down and properly learned anatomy. I’m a poor college student and just make art as a hobby and sometimes for commissions so I can’t really afford to pay for lessons, so thank you so so so much for making such an in-depth lesson accessible for everyone!

This will absolutely help me with future anatomy studies to try and level up my skill in that department.
I was only ever really taught how to *copy* anatomy and not how to actually *study* it and break it down like this, this is super helpful. Especially for that darn pelvic region, I'd argue I have more trouble with the shapes there than I do with hands! And this from someone who's great at the "How Many Hands Can I Hide" game!

This is so inspiring!! I'm pretty much housebound due to M.E and Fibromyalgia, and I've been desperate to make life more interesting. Over the last month or so, I've started to draw, and now have quite a few 'tools', including a desktop easel, quality pencils, paper and much more. It's really tough due to pain and fatigue, and a host of other symptoms, but I'm determined to do this, as I'm so close to throwing the towel in. I live alone with my three cats, who are so essential, they're on my medical notes, but still, I really need this, to make life worth living, no matter the obstacles I have to constantly battle through, and the days where I can do nothing else but sleep. Richard is an amazing, inspiring artist, who may just assist me in improving the quality of my life, even if it's just by a little, it may be enough to help me continue with my battle against the beast of M.E and Fibromyalgia. It's gonna be a painstakingly long process, but I so need this. From what I've seen, I feel I'm incredibly likely to sign up and become a member. Over the last few weeks, I've seen a few tutorials, and Richard's are the most inspiring. The greatest journey begins with the first step. Thank-you so much Richard for your inspiration. I so hope this has made sense, I didn't sleep last night.

I keep coming back to this episode again and again and each time, so much fruitful information. I draw along as best I can (I am a total beginner!) but slowly the pieces of the puzzle are forming an image. I can’t thank you enough for your generosity and your talent, as an artist and, to my good fortune, as an Educator.

This video took me from being horrified of figure drawing to the point of just avoiding it and doing landscapes to actually drawing a figure and enjoying it! I can’t thank you enough 😊 I’m excited to keep practicing

I followed along with you, and HOLY COW, you've changed my LIFE!!! I've draw, as a hobby for decades, but all the tips and tricks never really came together in my head until you outlined it so clearly and succinctly. I proceeded to sketch three more beautiful figures from photos just using these tips, and I'm just amazed at how well it all translates. I never thought I'd say this, but I can consistently draw realistic figures!! THANK YOU!!!!

ive always felt like such a bad artist for not being able to draw proper anatomy, or figures by just looking at a picture. i feel like so many artists say that they just get it, they dont have to think of how the hand works to draw it. things like that always got me down when they were said to me. this really helped me actually learn how the body parts interact with eachother

Your channel is one of the few channels that doesnt have the teacher screaming at you, playing ridiculous music and generally is annoying and of course I immediately find someone else such as yourself. Very educational, relaxing and since I took numerous anatomy and physiology courses this video is so helpful. Thank you and looking forward to watching and learning from more of your videos.

I majored in costume design and my drawings were always lacking movement. I had no idea how little I knew about anatomy and how badly that was affecting my designs. I wish I had this video in college! The drawing I just did following along with this video after not having drawn in years is better than anything I have ever done. Thank you!! I can't wait to watch the rest of the series

I’ve known for a long time that multi-discipline learning is important, because everything is connected is some way or another, but hadn’t ever thought of costume design with anatomy. (I did theater makeup in college and other extracurriculars. I had an epiphany one day that what I’d learned about bone structure in martial arts explained a lot in both my figure drawing and stage makeup classes about highlights and shadows. [The very thin point in the zygomatic arch is what creates that deeper shadow under the cheekbone, and is also the spot you would want to break if you were being attacked because it’s the weakest 🤷🏽] )
Costume design and anatomy makes 100% sense, that’s brilliant :) Thanks for your comment!
