Hey thanks for watching .. I have another video where I camped out in the Desert close to Mexico and rode into a crater that was on google earth .. you can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/s1pwLNbCVl8/w-d-xo.html
Do you shoe your own horses? How do get them to come back? Play on words, I'm joking Seriously other then the heat outside that looks fun. Not much exp on a horse and I'm close to your age. But getting out on a trail looks fun. 2 places id like to do that Arcadia National park in Mine and black hills south Dakota. Oh dont forget yellow stone national park.
I enjoyed your video and planned to subscribe until the end when you felt like you had to insert your personal politics into it. I watch videos like this to escape and see the outdoors when I can't get out there myself. I didn't come looking for Maga cult nonsense. The majority of this country is interested in democracy not a wannabe authoritarian criminal. You just lost one subscriber and remember there's 87 million more of us. Remember who wants to protect the land you enjoy so much (instead of selling it to oil companies) next time you step in a voting booth.
Brett, I hope your mom's feeling much better. Thanks for sharing this adventure. You do an excellent job of recording, drone work, commentary, and editing. It's appreciated!
It is called wanderlust which basically means the strong desire to explore to travel to the unfamiliar. I have it too. It is what us humans have done from day one. I rather be lost on a country back road than have all the amenities in an apartment downtown.
My wife and I have done that 4 wheeling from Charlotte ar all the way up to Hardy AR on gravel. Only getting on the blacktop 2 times for only a quarter mile or so.
What color contraption do you have on your dogs? I have to go. I bought me a forest with springs 120 achers in a huge 30k achers. And it’s my dream my husband and I can buy some horses mules a little jersey and a bull and build us a cabin by the lake. We found a spring. But maybe my dogs need some ufo colors like yours.
I had it when I was a child exploring miles from home age 4 I still remember the adventures no parents around I was a little traveler if you dare a lid alone now days people intervene or call cops then parents considered endangering children
Wanderlust. Interesting, I have heard of it at least once in the last 53 years. I dont seem to have it. If I lived in a penthouse in the city I would crave getting out. I think living in the woods messes you up lol :) I like it here.
🧡 I enjoyed it too,, brings back memories of the good ol days,, New Zealand,, I lost my dogs of 14yrs ,, going to the river & camping down the river with my 3 dogs,, the best life...😎
im brand new to the channel and this was so fun. i was telling my old man just last night that i was born a hundred years to late. I would love to do what this gentleman does.you are living my dream sir. just you and your dogs a mule and a horse thank you for sharing your journey with us all.
This reminds me of my great uncle, “ it’s just around the corner,” 2hrs later… he was the kindest hearted down to earth person I have ever had the blessing to know.
As you know, the Gila Wilderness area was created in 1924. Looking at the cabin via your video the cabin is older, possibly 1900 to 1920. The linoleum on the floor in the cabin dates to late 1960s to mid 1970s. I'm sure you could go to the county seat and with the long/lat coordinates find out if it was a mining claim or a homestead. Anyway, great video! I always enjoy the ride along!
I enjoyed being a vicarious cowboy for a little while. When I was young I used to work cattle from horseback. It's been so long I doubt I could even saddle a horse anymore.
It all comes back real fast, except for the butt muscles. You might need some cushioning now if you're like me and not as muscular back there anymore, and getting saddle sore was a shock. I'd never had that happen when I was young. 😅
I'll bet you could do it whether it's been a long time or not. Your memories will open up & you'll fall back into the time in your youth. You may be a little slower, but you'll get it done!
It's like riding a bicycle. Your body & soul never truly forget. I agree with Evelyn though; It takes the hips, groin & glutes time to get accustomed to it again. It's been many years for me since I've ridden a horse but by God did I love it. I'll never forget my first time with a gelding named Bartender. Once I checked his hooves, saddled up & we got acquainted we had a blast going through the paces on the trails, doubling back to check on the stragglers & galloping up to the front of the group where the teachers were with unhorsed students leading their mounts along because they couldn't get used to riding. That always made no sense to me; How could you NOT get used to it? It really is like the melding of the heart & mind of a horse & human. Once we got back to where the horses had been lined up for us to choose, I got help with unsaddling him & then brushed him down while talking to him. Since the stragglers were still busy with what they were doing I led him out to the field a bit & we played what I could only describe as a strange game of chase & tag. Everyone thought that I must have had a lot of experience with horses with how things came off but the truth is that I'd only ever touched a horse before that at the fair grounds. I was only a sixth grader & had never gotten the opportunity to ride before that. One of the old ranch hands commented that Bartender seemed really spirited & was acting half his age with me there. He said that they see horses perk up like that from time to time when a rider comes around that they become fond of but seldom to that extent. I was just happy to know that Bartender was having as much fun as I was! I never got the chance to see Bartender again & I only went riding a couple of other times in my life at different places. I'm now pushing 50 & I've gotten a bit wide around the middle since then. If I wanted to ride today I'd probably have to find me a Belgian or a Clydesdale to carry my heavy butt! lol
Thanks Brett, another great adventure "onward and upward". Prayers over your mother, may she be healed. Tha cabin site was cool, especially how you saw it, and then tracked it down. Can't wait to see what you find with the trail camera! Be well!

I loved your trail talk. It was very different watching you and greatly appreciated. I’m Larry out in Bangkok , Thailand. 85?years old and still going strong.
My friend from the Navy lives in Star Valley near Payson . Beautiful country. I 😂 have to admit it gets a little hot in summer and really cold in winter! Still love those somber peaceful mountains and rough valleys! They do grow on you ! Blessings to you and thank you for the scenery! God bless.
Great ride along Brett . Scenery was gorgeous. Bonnie and Clyde are two beautiful looking mules. I believe you can say you got a great pair there. Be blessed ride safely
I love what you do. Them lil dogs are having to keep up with that fast pace. You see they keep wanting to stop in the shade. How fun. What a great life.
what I think you need is a hammock to keep in your pack you never seem to have a shortage of trees where you go and I keep one in my day pack for power naps you get a double wide hammock and the straps they dont weigh anything and they can be comfortable takes 5 mins to set up and the breeze will blow around you cool you off.
I wouldn’t know for certain, but I think that’s an old FS cabin. Fire fighters, trail crews , etc. They were built all the same. My dad and Roland Rice stayed in em , back when Roland contracted packing to the FS. Just a guess.
Am soon happy found this.. Thanks for allowing me to come out on your adventure. Can't get out anymore yet. This was fun and love your animules 😂 and your dogs are great too! Great presentation. There is a young man's page found too. So thankfull🎉 Many happy adventure trails to you
That's not a pot outside- it's a colander! lol love the restful trip even though I have to watch from NC. Thanks for the video of quieter times! and I love the animals.
Fascinating bit of exploring. I located the cabin on Google Earth Pro and was surprised to see it is just a ways south of where I still have family in the area of Winston and Chloride. Beautiful mountains down that part of New Mexico, rugged too. Sure must be a pleasure to be able to wander that back country.
First time finding your channel and I loved it. I can see it now “weekend fixer upper just a little bit outside of town in the country where your only neighbor is your shadow”
Thanks Brett taking us this excursion. Bonnie & Clyde are in some beautiful country probably doesn’t appreciate this just getting outside. As for Clyde I don’t know miles but if I remember my time riding, horses want to be ahead, just like Clyde’s trying. You found place, how old? I bet ok once.-Kid Yuma
I do believe this is going to be one of my favorites. Thanks to you, Bonnie, Clyde and all the canines! You probably don't see these adventures as effort, but I appreciate the effort you put into these journeys. Thanks, Brett!
Great times! Keep it coming, nothing better than a pair of good mules and a mountain range to explore! Thanks again for sharing your time! Big D West Texas
I find it amazing the way you can read your animals and know what’s going on with them. I guess you have done it all your life. Not too many people nowadays can do that. I do appreciate your videos and I learn a lot of your country where you travel, thanks!
I believe that reading critters is a knack you're born with... or not. Have tried teaching many people how, but they either get it right away or never do. If you do have the knack, you still need to do it a lot to get really good at it. That's my thoughts on it anyways. God Bless!
From time to time, when time, weather and resources allow, I explore too. But nothing to the depth and quality that you do! Much appreciation for 'taking us along' and sharing. Prayers your mom gets to feeling better.
My APHA filly wasn't conscious of the terrain regarding her feet and would trip. I touched her hooves at home - said 'feet' and gave her a pellet, then I'd make her step over items while saying 'feet' and give her a pellet. On the trail, I'd take her over rocky areas or over logs and say 'feet'. Now she looks down at the trail when I say 'feet' and places her hooves carefully so she won't trip or slide. Soon she won't need me to remind her, as it is becoming a habit on the rough, steep trails to be aware and slow down.
@@BrettVaughnB100 Mules are so hardy and seem to be more feet-conscious. Horses raised on the flat have SO much to learn! I wonder if I should get a mule to hang out with my filly, then take them out together, one packing and one being ridden. I train horses but have never had a Mule to train, it would be a blast. LOVE your videos and campouts. Wish we could go on a week campout with a group led by you, your dogs, and two mules, Bonnie and Clyde.THANKS ~
Born in NY City. Moved in steps, east to Long Island. We think that we live in the country. LOL! You, my new friend, are blessed to have the old and the new, in the palm of your hands. You have a grasp on things around you. Here, people run away when they see a bee. You, are knowledgeable enough to know that there could be a rattler under the downed tree but comfortable with knowing that the dogs would pick up a scent if there was one. Having survival knowledge along with tech to create a truly enjoyable piece of video. Will subscribe and watch for more. Poppy

I rode an Arab stalion for 19 years in the cascades here in Washington. He was a great mountain horse. I miss him alot .

Arabs are sure footed, hard hoofed and the best long distance stamina horses, I've worked throughout the years with many notable Arabian stallions, wasn't it difficult if someone around you had a mare in heat?

My friend from the Navy lives in Star Valley near Payson . Beautiful country. I 😂 have to admit it gets a little hot in summer and really cold in winter! Still love those somber peaceful mountains and rough valleys! They do grow on you ! Blessings to you and thank you for the scenery! God bless.
You bet thank you for watching .. I do love these mountains
Watching from a small town in Quebec Canada ! That is a nice adventure. Tank's it was fun watching you !
Thanks for watching
That was a great ride. Thanks for taking me along!
Great ride along Brett . Scenery was gorgeous.
Bonnie and Clyde are two beautiful looking mules. I believe you can say you got a great pair there. Be blessed ride safely
Thanks 👍 They are doing good .. looking forward to cooler weather
I love what you do. Them lil dogs are having to keep up with that fast pace. You see they keep wanting to stop in the shade. How fun. What a great life.
Yes got a little too hot for them .. and they are out of shape from a long hot summer ... Thanks
what I think you need is a hammock to keep in your pack you never seem to have a shortage of trees where you go and I keep one in my day pack for power naps you get a double wide hammock and the straps they dont weigh anything and they can be comfortable takes 5 mins to set up and the breeze will blow around you cool you off.
what a good idea.
I have tried hammocks before but I just can't get real comfortable in them I want to .. I might try again thank you!
Good looking mules brother.
Thanks 👍
Man oh man, Bonnie really steps out good! She likes to go.
What a peaceful place to be ! ! !
Thanks for sharing. Be vigilant out there.
Kick’n back and relaxing in the wilderness. Sounds like such fun. Good luck with all your travels.
I wouldn’t know for certain, but I think that’s an old FS cabin. Fire fighters, trail crews , etc. They were built all the same. My dad and Roland Rice stayed in em , back when Roland contracted packing to the FS. Just a guess.
That was my guess
Better then my guess, I was thinking some serial killer or something hideout lol
lol
I bet your right .. back when the forrest service really did anything

Can't get out anymore yet.
This was fun and love your animules 😂 and your dogs are great too!
Great presentation.
There is a young man's page found too.
So thankfull🎉
Many happy adventure trails to you
That's not a pot outside- it's a colander! lol love the restful trip even though I have to watch from NC. Thanks for the video of quieter times! and I love the animals.
Thanks .. I stand corrected lol
Awesome way of living sir.
First time finding your channel and I loved it. I can see it now “weekend fixer upper just a little bit outside of town in the country where your only neighbor is your shadow”
That was fun.
I love your videos, it takes me out of South Carolina and adventure with you, your sweet pups, and Bonnie and Clyde thank you
Thanks Brett taking us this excursion.
Thanks Kid .. they just need more of this
@@BrettVaughnB100 Brett, you know that more than anyone, you are riding them. Besides you enjoy riding like this.-Kid
I do believe this is going to be one of my favorites. Thanks to you, Bonnie, Clyde and all the canines! You probably don't see these adventures as effort, but I appreciate the effort you put into these journeys. Thanks, Brett!
You bet thank you for watching!
Looks like heaven
Great times! Keep it coming, nothing better than a pair of good mules and a mountain range to explore!
Thanks again for sharing your time!

West Texas
Someone lived there back in the day. The cabin could have been built a hundred years ago.
I find it amazing the way you can read your animals and know what’s going on with them. I guess you have done it all your life. Not too many people nowadays can do that. I do appreciate your videos and I learn a lot of your country where you travel, thanks!
I guess so .. I don't think about it much but we do spend a lot of time together .. Thank you
I believe that reading critters is a knack you're born with... or not. Have tried teaching many people how, but they either get it right away or never do. If you do have the knack, you still need to do it a lot to get really good at it.
That's my thoughts on it anyways.
God Bless!
Xcellent 😊
Thank you !
Thanks for taking us along. Great adventure. You have a blessed week.
Thank you .. and you too
I think you got a Tennessee walkin' Mule there Bret LOL ......OnWard......
From time to time, when time, weather and resources allow, I explore too. But nothing to the depth and quality that you do! Much appreciation for 'taking us along' and sharing.
Prayers your mom gets to feeling better.
Thank you very much !
It's 4am... I am trying to sleep... and brother is taking me on an adventure instead..
Great video! Great channel! Looking forward to going along with you on new adventures!
Awesome! Thank you!
I think Bonnie will get better with time and maybe getting a few bruises lol Thanks
Poppy
Wow great thank you .. you understand I do appreciate that ..
Fat Lori fan club just checking in! Glad to see a new video!
lol I will let her know .. Thanks
