    I love this video! It shows the true nature of stone setting from cutting of the seats, fitting the stone and going back in to adjust the cut of the seat until your stone fits. I am a stone setting trainer. I set and train using a microscope and camera. It is a great pleasure watching you work. Seeing you go out of focus a few times made me smile. When I'm training I go out of focus a lot. Lol! Watching someone as talented as you are makes me strive to be a better setter and teacher.

    How do you keep your pilot holes & seats perfectly spaced (horizontally) without marking between the stones upon layout? I see the markings for the vertical spacing, but nothing else. Does that just come with years of experience or is there a step or technique you use to do this that I didn’t notice or haven’t learned?

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gary Zeos you should, in a circle
      Pattern always start dividing from the center. The normal division is all with the same diamond diameters. This shows different ones and should be via trail and error. Also if you take the diameter of the stones and you mark these on the circle (which you drew from the center point) you can just keep marking until you reach the last one. Most of the times these do not exactly match then just continue with tiny stripes and decrease your diameter by turning ‘inwards’ this way you should eventually meet one of your previous marks.

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gary Zeos why don’t you just start by mapping out the actual diamonds bottom up on the jewelry. And use a divider (take the diameter from the diamond) and mark the position. I’m happy to provide some more details over the email. Info@vandoorendiamonds.com

I am going to have 2 rings made and a wondering I get I1-I3 quality diamonds if they would be worth getting to put in the ring from 1mm to 1.5mm, and then get si diamonds 2mm - 3mm.. your opinion on that, would they look nice on a 18 kt yellow gold ring, it would have just a few more diamonds then what you used in this video... my concern is if the small i3-i1 diamonds are very cloudy and bad... can you tell when they are that small ? what is your opinion, it is very appreciated

    • @heinikendude
      @heinikendude  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi liza, I tend to use dental spray when there is a very large stone which doesn't fit in to good. I can determine the remaining contact points and remove these with a drill
