I'm just getting into them. I went back to their old stuff because I heard they used to be more "djent" I found myself wondering if they ever really "opened up", crescendoed, or what ever you want to call playing really loud. This song did not disappoint.
Coming back to this track after discovering them 4 years ago and this song is the one I always use as an example of how underrated Scott LePage is in terms of his playing and melody.
@xborg3236 Considering on their latest album Scott actually plays all the solos (Tim doesn't have 1 solo on RTYWD) I'd say it's the opposite. Old fans barely gave Scott attention lol.
like you, I like chon, animals as leaders, contortionist, periphery, etc. I think there is only one element of music, where polyphia excels: the positive vibes! this music may not be so technical or complex like the others above but by simply listening, I feel happy! I listened this album today when I went for a good running and felt full of energy. so, thumbs up, we need music like this.
Jordan Mandas Oh, I'm not doubting you. I'm sure you can play it. But have you tried learning a full Periphery song? Something like Insomnia or Letter Experiment? Or one of the Chon songs off Newborn Son like Dew or Fluffy? Or something like Lippincott by AAL? Sure Polyphia has some complex solo bits, but I just think you might be underestimating these other guys a bit. I could be misunderstanding, but I just know from learning how to play some Polyphia tracks that I find Periphery and Chon to be a lot harder than even some of the toughest Polyphia songs. In terms of soloing, Polyphia knows their stuff. But in terms of overall difficulty, I think you might be underestimating a bit. Just to be clear, I could be perceiving this wrongly and I'm not trying to talk shit on you or anything. I'm sure you're a kind soul.
Jordan Mandas anyone who has brilliant technique can learn polyphia, if you have put the time into learning every scale pattern and all that it really isnt that difficult. However bands like Periphery, AAL and the likes, all play crazy ass riffs that are damn hard to get your head around. I'm no fret wizard but i find it considerably easier learning fast legato/ noodley stuff than i do with tosin's crazy thumping riffs and the sheer musical wonder of mark holcomb and the likes. Faster doesn't necessarily mean harder
This was my wedding song, and I remember meeting all of you when yall came to Atlanta I think at the Tabernacle. My husband and I came to see ypur show for our first year anniversary 💕 we love you guys
I'm proud of being one of those who donated to make this possible. The pre production version is nothing compared to this. This is absolutely aMUSEing and I'm INSPIREd now to learn every note off your album in September.
easily the best instrumental y'all have made. i actually wrote and recorded vocals over it because it was so inspiring, and just finished doing it. i would upload it and would love to show you guys but due to copywriter, it doesn't allow me. i literally poured my heart out into the song, too. either way, phenomenal work on this track. 11/10
i can only upload the intro i made into the song. if nothing else, this will give you an idea what the song was about. ill keep trying to find means of uploading it. stay posted. soundcloud.com/undefeatedofficial/altruism-intro-v-2
Actually most bands do playthroughs unplugged, alll you want to see in a playthrough is the finger movement and wat you hear is obviously the recorded track. Keyword is "most"
Absolutely soaring! A perfect illustration of how it is possible to say so much without any words. It should almost be illegal to rock so supremely, but I'm so glad it's not.
I'm personally a big fan of well executed instrumental music and i love this album. Im a guitar player and often pay close attention to the guitar parts. The music these guys created is very pleasing to my ears and its absolutely beautiful from beginning to end. They have successfully painted a scene in my head with their music. These guys are very inspiring to me and as a guitarist I hope to one day be able to do what these guys have done with their music, with my own music
I think the direction this group is taking is fantastic. I was sooo happy when I heard sweet tea. Maybe if more groups wrote like this the world wouldn't be so full of files up hateful people!
Been here since Inspire, still believing that Scott is the real boss of Polyphia. His playing has never sounded like mindless shredding, Scott plays with a certain feel that I haven’t heard from Tim. Tim is the guitar equivalent to Brandon when Brandon used to drum for them, amazing musicians both of them, but no feeling. Scott is life Scott is love
discovered these dudes in 2013 also and i gotta say you're completely correct lol. scott's riff direction is so jazy and well thought out, unlike tim who plays like he snorts coke before every song
@@hectorg362 late reply or what, I’m terrible 😂 I agree whole heartedly, Tim is the better guitarist from a technical stance, and Scott adds the sauce to the drip 🙌🏻
I'll miss this....This was why I fell in love with the band. These songs were their best to me. Each one tells a story. They're fucking beautiful, so beautiful 💔😣 not that their new stuff is bad, they're in a phase hopefully though. lol 🤙🏻
This just has so much feel all over it. All their songs do... They are just great. I enjoyed the video and many of their other videos. Keep Rockin' Polyphia.
I used to work a beach wedding job in SoCal before the pandemic and I would put Polyphia on the loudspeakers while we were setting up and again while we were sparking up after we broke everything down and packed up lol such good times, such beautiful music.
Why does so many have to have vocals in their songs? Sometimes we don't need obvious lyrics to tell us what the song is about..use your imagination and feel the music instead
Good to hear some new guys who understand that milking the slow notes is everything. Shredding is just guitar gymnastics without that. Great stuff guys ! Just heard you on 90.3 WESS , E. Strouds, PA ...thanks to that kid DJ
tim + scott = best guitarist / musician duo ever , they really got an "alchimie " ( don't know how to say it in english :D ) plus the clay genius bass lines ... i don't know a shit abvout drum and i know they changed drummer lot of time theses years , but to me this sound like the perfect drummer i would like to have to compose some guitar solos ! cheers guys my favorite album from you so far , muse is a masterpiece !
Why does everyone feel the need to put music in a box with, "it needs vocals"? It doesn't need anything, it is what it is. It's Polyphia, it sets in the spot of music where it belongs. No one ever said Beethoven's 5th symphony need lyrics... Accept it for what it is, if you want Taylor Swift songs then listen to Taylor Swift. That's what's wrong with the music industry, mindless robots who need labels on everything in their lives control the world, embrace art for what it is, "Good art doesn't come to you, you go to it" :) Rant over.
He missed this album, but we'd better see Sithu Aye on the next album if its sound is anything like what this is shaping up to be. You owe yourselves that guest solo.
this has some great rock elements guys!
hello plini i love you
Plini you have great elements period lol
Was that a pun? "rock" element?
Plini you are just too good.
Did my favorite artist really just comment on my favorite bands video? Go get sythu aye and do a cover!!!
After all these years, this song still hits differently than other Polyphia’s songs.
ikr. glad im not the only one
My thoughts exactly. Definitely number 1 in my book
Yeah, still number 1 for me as well. Can’t wait for Album 4 tho.
Yes, definitely this is their best song
I'm just getting into them. I went back to their old stuff because I heard they used to be more "djent" I found myself wondering if they ever really "opened up", crescendoed, or what ever you want to call playing really loud. This song did not disappoint.
love the tone they're getting out of those rock amps
The sound that they get is rock solid
They got the mossy patch and kelp patch
that's a beautiful tone from those boulders
Hey, look! 87.
I used to think 42 was the meaning of life, the universe, and everything. Now I'm pretty sure it's 87

👃 he and Tim make such a great duo.
Fans who followed them since their ep days knows who Scottie is. Unfortunately the new fans doesn't
@@xborg3236 I mean I'd argue that the newest fans know him really well, considered how much they showcased his playing on the last album.

Sanic Approves.
@0:32 solo and @3:45 are the most beautiful solos you've ever written so far guys !
Tim knew how to start it, and Scott beautifully finished it.
Little did you know lol
Seven years later and being plugged into that rock is still beautiful.

then fast forward 8 years to the future, polyphia became the most technical and complex out of all the bands you mentioned.
an absolute masterpiece, still can't get over this song...
Beautiful vid boys!
Two guitarrists. One bassist. One drummer. One nose.
One nose
A Prolific nose
Stop playing Paramore covers, that are making some serious shit in your head.
and one love.
that nose though
Just started learning this. One of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard. This song has so much emotion.
One of the great things about Polyphia's vids: That bottom string flopping around like a loose telephone cable!
Scotts solo at the end always gives me goosebumps and makes me want to cry.

Where they are playing is precisely where their music takes me. Omg so perfect. So pumped for this album.
You guys have really found your niche. Between the album promo, sweet tea and this, the album is shaping up to be one of the best albums of the year.
Dang!! I have been listening to this song on repeat for weeks. Still hasn't gotten old.
My all time favorite song has finally reached its 1 Million views, I'm so happy and proud of you guys how you grew and came so far ❤ !

by a mile their best songs and one of my favourite instrumentals ever
no one wants your trash vocals
Fell in love with this song when it came out and now here we are.
Cant believe it took the world a whole decade to stop sleeping on you guys. 😅
The interlude is just phenomenal. Soothing 😌❤️
Their fingerwork is amazing

One of the best bands!
The very first Polyphia song I listened to 5 years ago and inspired by these guys ever since
This level of guitar playing is astonishing and very tasteful - I am AMAZED !
Holy FUCK the hook in the intro is way more amazing now with that synth.
