Original drums by Brandon Burkhalter: bit.ly/1ofltFj
Mixed, mastered, and produced by Nick Sampson. - เพลง
That drummer can hardly contain his enthusiasm.
Confused Loner HAHAHAAAHA
Y'all are tripping. That drummer is a beast.. Ive been playing for 15 years and im telling you he is sick af
@Confused Loner ohhhh .. Sarcasm. Now i see by the look on his face lol
i think hes trying not to mess up his hair. lame
Infact he left...
8 years later and this song still goes hard.
So fucking hardddd
Bassist is gonna hit his head against Tim Henson's guitar headpiece one day....
Don't worry mate, next video we'll put him behind the drums
Called a headstock dude
well i guess theyre gonna go head-to-head then....
.
.
.
yeah i know this is cringey lol
That hook alone could bring world peace.
the boy band of instrumental metal
they are real boys. The real ones hahaha
Exactly LOL! Nailed it!
OneSight its not metal
That`s right... it`s a djent
It is metal, but I'm not seeing or hearing a lot of palm-muting on the heavy parts so it probably isn't djent and djent is a kind of metal that has a certain sound, but these guys are the boy band of metal
You guys are the soundtrack to my life. I fall asleep listening to Polyphia, I play vidgames while listening to Polyphia, I get pumped up with Polyphia before lacrosse games, I listen to Polyphia when I do my homework, I listen to Polyphia when I skate. Your music makes everyday life so much more enjoyable and significant and I love you guys.
People like you make what we do worthwhile. Thanks so much for the kind words, friend!
Polyphia Thanks so much for the jams, friend!
Polyphia Just a quick question dudes? Are you fans of Ritchie Kotzen? I heard some licks that were Kotzenesque (from about 1:38-2:00) Sweet stuff 😃
Mathis Cactus That's so cute
TobiObito I know that's what all the ladies say. Apparently some guys too ;)
Still my favourite Polyphia song after all these years
I'll always remember seeing Polyphia with my best friend at a show in Austin where they played with Dance Gavin Dance and Hail The Sun. I had no idea who they were, and it blew my mind when the guy who was standing next to us went up on stage and started doing this to a guitar. I had been standing next to Tim the first part of the show. It was an outdoor show with a stage and a big awning, and halfway through their set it was raining and there was thunder and lightning, so everyone was huddled under this awning. I can vividly remember this song, huddled with people mesmerized my this song while a thunder storm is going on around us. My best friend is gone now, and that show was my favorite we ever went to. I'll always remember this song, and I love to see where you guys have gotten to now.
@@youngartz6671 Thank you, I like to think so too.
I appreciate this comment. I've only found Polyphia 1 week a go and I'm mesmerised completely. Here I am digging into some older tracks.... the journey this band has taken!?!!
O_o
So amazed!
Wow. That sounds like such a surreal experience. Sorry about your loss
That is an unforgettable experience.. no question.
The drummer is just like "Alright, let's just get this done boys."
Boysss
boiiis
and succeeds
"Let's get this done boys" then brandon left polyphia
TapTap Kellin more like he got kicked out then begged back then left because he knew he was better then what the band had become.
Please make an instrumental version of this!!
are you serious
That would be amazing
Yeah, those guitars are singing.
what the hell justin bieber fan doing here
Soooo about that instrumental
Guitarists and drummer:😐
Bass player: 🤪😝🤘
You've gotta appreciate just how pretty this song is. Polyphia hasn't made a single album that wasn't awesome and unique. They're not afraid to reinvent themselves, and that's something that really makes them stand out.
2:54 That badass fucking moment when the bass player is poly-rythmically head banging with the hi hat, instant like
+Ashton Montgomery actually lolled

I'm an (old) Steve Vai/Satriani era fan, but I have to say this is quite refreshing to see young dudes evolving down that same path.
inspired but not the same path lol.
@@chrisvalenzuela7911 same path as it is both instrumental
@@adamorosz6534 in that regard yes but that's way too generalized. Their new sound is a alot different than the old guys and have taken a way different approach than they did.

This song is epic.
Just fell into these guys listening to an Animals As Leaders Playlist. I'm not disappointed this shit is incredible any recommendations
Zack effron is fucking mental on those drums
lol
he should get a haircut tho
+metalguy or he could just do what he wants with his hair?
John Johnson it's Justin Bieber on drums.🤘
I cannot stop laughing
that hoodie just makes me want Clay to stand in front of my window and be curtains. awesome.

Wow.
You guys are good.
Have you ever thought of song lyrics??
I think I'd be perfect! :)

Why should I??

Guys, this is what many metalheads are going to start looking like. It's a gentler generation. I'm 40, but sick music is sick music. This is sick.
no, this is pop.
I'm a late comer to the Polyphia scene, I had no idea you guys existed back in 2015. How the heck did I miss you guys? Better late than never, thank you for your beautiful music guys.
Same here. The thing is the more I dig old songs, its getting better too. Aviator n Finale are my kind of song, I wonder y youtube didnt put this in their algorithm to me back then.
These guys of such smooth hair, like a Korean Boy Band
+Joe Pontiac I loved this comment. Hahaha
+Joe Pontiac I was afraid they were when I saw the thumbnail, never heard the band before.
+Joe Pontiac Everytime i see natural straight hair on a non Asian person. I assume one of their grandparents or parents are asian.
+Joe Pontiac Good hair- stylist they might have.
+Joe Pontiac haha thank ya!
This band is about to blow up.
You're a few years too late, man. lol
Michael Ziegler Not really.
Michael Ziegler not really, they just released their album and before then they were mostly a youtube band that only some people knew about. great band though, helped crowd fund their album and I'm happy with the result :)
nah it was an 11 song album
Zach Daigs They have a 5 songs EP called Inspire.
I really love Scottie's solos, he brings so much feeling to it, he has an unique style
I know Tim's sometimes just the star of the show, but an appreciation post for Scott's amazing rhythms, fills and his solo parts.
Absolutely. Im 51 yrs old. Im a music enthusiast. Love your music guys!
Man, Scott looks really different here. At first I thought it was a different guy.
Few people seem to appreciate drums... I found these guys while looking for an instrumental band with good drumming.
You guys give the instrumental scene hope. Who needs words. you can tell a story without it!
Copper Mile Arts Mendel from aborted on his solo project, polyphia and archecho should tour.
1,000% AGREE! THEY BLEND AWESOMELY
Check out Angel Vivaldi and Andy James.
So tell me what story this song is trying to tell?

What am I looking for here ?
drummers facial expression XD the whole song he makes some intresting ones
+Neeko Thank you... I am complete.
welcome, i still love his rape face XDD
+Neeko HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I remember hanging with these guys back stage. They are hilarious. True friends. Followed them up to Canada.
I love the move Tim busts out every so often where he throws a held note out of phase with the whammy bar, making that note change from a clean ring to a rough sound. Very cool.
I came for the guitars but stayed for the bass
what about the drums
Mark Darryl true
jrbaconcheez Needs to get rid of the pick and manhandle the bass.
depwater12 finger style only fits where it needs to and a plectrum adds different depth and tone to the bass. His picking skills are mad crazy watch him play eighty seven and you'll see
rmbloungeact I get you. I couldn't even tell he was using a pick until i seen the vid. He is damn good. I also like the flanger effect he add's to the bass in the other songs. It reminds me of Justin Chancellor from Tool.
dude is wearing two hoodies.
I noticed this, and at one point he had both hoods up while head banging... they are trying so hard I feel bad.
I wore an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time.....
Ever heard of not being like a robot? Guess not
Who only wears two hoodies?
I know its been 3 years since this comment but just to clarify he's wearing a jacket with a hood on on top of his hoddie
Lyrics:
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I take a look at my life and realize there's not much left
'Coz I've been blastin' and laughin' so long, that
Even my mama thinks that my mind is gone
But I ain't never crossed a man that didn't deserve it
Me be treated like a punk you know that's unheard of
You better watch how you're talkin', and where you're walkin'
Or you and your homies might be lined in chalk
I really hate to trip but I gotta, loc
As I grow I see myself in the pistol smoke, fool
I'm the kinda G the little homies wanna be like
On my knees in the night, sayin' prayers in the streetlight
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
They got the situation, they got me facin'
I can't live a normal life, I was raised by the stripes
So I gotta be down with the hood team
Too much television watchin' got me chasin' dreams
I'm an educated fool with money on my mind
Got my 10 in my hand and a gleam in my eye
I'm a loc'd out gangsta set trippin' banger
And my homies is down so don't arouse my anger, fool
Death ain't nothin' but a heartbeat away
I'm livin' life, do or die, what can I say
I'm twenty-three now, but will I live to see twenty-four
The way things are going I don't know
Tell me why are we, so blind to see
That the one's we hurt, are you and me
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Power and the money, money and the power
Minute after minute, hour after hour
Everybody's runnin', but half of them ain't lookin'
What's going on in the kitchen, but I don't know what's cookin'
They say I gotta learn, but nobody's here to teach me
If they can't understand it, how can they reach me
I guess they can't, I guess they won't
I guess they front, that's why I know my life is out of luck, fool
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Been spendin' most their lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Keep spendin' most our lives,
Livin' in the gangsta's paradise
Tell me why are we, so blind to see
That the one's we hurt, are you and me
Tell me why are we, so blind to see
That the one's we hurt, are you and me
First Last not quite, it’s a common mistake but the actual lyrics are,
As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain
I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain
But that's just perfect for an Amish like me
You know I shun fancy things like electricity
At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows
Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows fool
And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that
Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone
I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline
Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin
But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine
Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699
We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish paradise
I've churned butter once or twice
Living in an Amish paradise
It's hard work and sacrifice
Living in an Amish paradise
We sell quilts at a discount price
Living in an Amish paradise
A local boy kicked me in the butt last week
I just smiled at him and I turned the other cheek
I really don't care, in fact I wish him well
'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in Hell
But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it
An Amish with a 'tude?
You know that's unheard of
I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat
And my homies agree
I really look good in black fool
If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears
We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years
But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare
We're just technologically impaired
There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar
Not a single luxury
Like Robinson Caruso
It's as primitive as can be
We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish Paradise
We're just plain and simple guys
Living in an Amish Paradise
There's no time for sin and vice
Living in an Amish Paradise
We don't fight, we all play nice
Living in an Amish Paradise
Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter
Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise anutter
Think you're really righteous?
Think you're pure in heart?
Well, I know I'm a million time as humble as thou art
I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes want to be like
On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife
So don't be vain and don't be whiny
Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie
We been spending most our lives
Living in an Amish Paradise
We're all crazy Mennonites
Living in an Amish Paradise
There's no cops or traffic lights
Living in an Amish Paradise
But you'd probably think it bites
Living in an Amish Paradise

Every once a while I just keep coming back to this masterpiece. Their new stuff is great but for me this song has a special place in my heart because in my 7 years of severe depression (I'm better now) this song managed to make me feel a little excitement, joy and sometimes even get my ass up to the gym
0:16 He's like "Awe damn I can't look it's too good"
Jesus. That twirl Brandon does with his right drumstick at 4:14. He makes everything look so effortless. Such talent.
It’s so awesome to come back and see how the band has changed and improved in so many ways. So much more technical and stylish now, but I miss this feel of them being a somewhat still smaller band.
The way the halftime hits at the end of this song is just orgasmic. Still one of my favorite songs they've ever made.

I've been a musician for years and I have to say. You guys have a sound that is unique. I really like the lack of a singer. Leaves the audience to connect to the music in a more profound manner.
I`ve played guitar for over 30 yrs., these guys blow my mind. I might be able to do it if I even knew what they were doing.
Here I am back again. This is probably the best thing they have EVER composed.

Very impressive, yes.
@@charliesmith3476 I honestly don't enjoy the new stuff. Too many notes and less memorable melodies. They are playing better than never, undoubtedly.

Saw this band last night when they opened for august burns red. Very cool band to watch, the bass player had like 10x the energy live. Would definitely recommend.

Take it from a 55 year old from a family of musicians, most of my friends musicians, performed on stage, wrote music, know some of the best musicians, met many greats, roadied for and so on, these kids are awesome. Excellent work!
Houston went xhen say
I'm 66 from just outside Woodstock NY, the town not concert site. I'm a musician artist as well, (suffered from stage fright, probably saved my life)
These kids are excellent but each track sounds the same to me.
I prefer Guthrie Govan, and a host of others too long to name.
But, here I am listening...
Beauty in music lives not in the notes, but in those quiet spaces between the notes.
The guitarists are awesome and the drummer too and all along it's just enthusiastic
I feel like so many people are picking on the bassist for his head banging but hey he's just getting into the music who gives a shit
One of the reasons i watch Polyphia MV is because of that Headbang
I'm not kidding
I'm actually the same way. I always thought that I'd be one of the more reserved bassists, but the first time I preformed with a band, all of a sudden, the head began to bang. It was so fun.
Yeah for real them haters dont even play an instrument lmao
I love it. I kinda like the odd contrast of everyone else being super stagnant and the bassist going ape in between them
I feel like I see no comments complaining of his head.
I like how in most of their songs, the bass is really keeping it tight and groovy at the same time, never seen that before damn.
The ending with the main riff playing over and over again in slow mo is so sick.
I don’t know why but 3:05 is my favorite part of the song.. just the way everything hits and the guitar just rings out.
There's something about that first lead melody, I don't know what it is about it but it just gives me so much nostalgia...
Matt G P.S. Tim is cute as fuck
Matt G I agree with you completely on both comments. xD
Damn the vocalist killed it!!!!!!! Very talented!

the bass tone is extreme; drummer is awesome; composition perfect; guitars on it; what is not to like?
lol never noticed this before but at 4:23 looks like Brandon knocks something off his cymbal and into his lap
+kalloused haha nice catch
***** and the padding
+kalloused I do that to, his hands go further down the normal
It was a cymbal felt.
its funny because a few seconds after that u can notice that is gone, but by the end of the song its back on.
Still sounds good to me. . I like the drummer where is he now? His grooves and rudiments are so smooth
He quit the band a few years ago. Polyphia wanted to move in a different direction and he didn't like it so he left the band.

this music will always have a place in my heart, but its truly insane the leaps and bounds they have made since this era. they went from doing what others were doing, to making a path all their own
I think it says something that their most popular video is them just playing their music with a white background to accompany them. No bells and whistles, no hot girls, just a bunch of guys playing their hearts out. I like it.

lots of talent from these guys its rare that technical stuff makes you want to rock out and dance at the same time xD
I love y'all's music! I think my favorite thing about what you do is that you don't overdo the drums. The musical melodies are there and easy to follow, but complex and interesting. And there's always a steady theme underlaying it all to keep you grounded.
Love it! Keep doing what you do!
I was in a Uber this morning and heard this track for the first time. This isn't my genre, but this is spectacular and gorgeous, no matter what your definition of music is!
Those tones just make me love this even more. Just how do they get these awesome guitar and bass tones, not to mention the drums?

Thanks for visiting Philly, Polyphia... y'all blended your electronic sounds with the live instruments wonderfully and everyone went absolutely nuts. Can't wait for the next concert of yours that I can go to!

I always liked Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, John Petrucci. Listened to their music a lot. Came across a short 'Ego Death' clip with Ste Vai's solo on YT a couple months ago. And so it started with Polyphia and it doesn't stop :D Amazing stuff that you compose and play!
Drummer has such finesse...
I love this, I love this so much. I'm gonna tell you why, because you sound like a band as a whole now.
Bass cuts through much better so Clay has his presence. Drums have their "solo" part so we can hear Brandon's awesome grooves. Scott brings the heavy side of the song doing chords not as previously when you both played melodies, this sounds way fuller and more natural. And Tim's playing isn't "look what I can do" as previously (it was nice, but this sounds better imo), it's more melodic.
I think you are improving a lot and I'm really glad, because you clearly have the skills, you needed a bit more mature approach to your songwriting, and I think you got it right this time :)
Polyphia is back!
Only question I have is, why EMGs? Haha
New Muse generally, I feel the mix is just better and we can hear Clay more, we can also hear drums more. I don't know if they are retracking muse or just remastering it, but it would make sense to retrack it imo haha I hope next release sounds more like this song and not like some songs in Muse which are basically more shred oriented. Don't get me wrong, shred is cool, but I like songs like Finale more.
***** They didn't record with those EMG's. They had DiMarzio CL/LF set. They will change those out, hahaha.
***** The real question is, why not EMGs, though?
James Hewitt Too compressed for my taste haha
