    The sensei is very popular in finland, it fits really well with the wooded courses here. It's dead straight new and when worn down it doesnt fade at all, it just creeps to the right on a backhand throw.

    I found a used 174g Sensei Active Premium for $5 and had to check it out. The heavier weight was much more stable than the beginner pack weights, and taught this beginner a lot about approach shots. Loved it so much that I got 3 Mind Benders, 2 Midnight Prowls, an Origin, a Razor Claw 3, an MD3, and an Essence.

    Sensei was my first putting putter, even though I was told most people throw it. I plan on switching towards a discmania bag in the future and maybe I’ll try to throw it again. I do throw a warped beat in base sensei occasionally. Flips and goes pretty far

    I think people are often very narrow minded and want to buy the popular disc at a high price/poor availability when there are great or better alternatives available off the shelf. This is especially true with overstable distance drivers. For example the Enigma is better than the DD3/Cloudbreaker for most players and the Firebird isn’t the only overstable fairway driver out there. Supporting your favourite pro or getting a cool, exclusive disc is a whole other story. For discs that you buy to improve your game - there are great underrated alternatives available.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video as always! :)
    I was wondering if you have tried the Yikun Gui (an amazing putter I use for both putting and throwing) It has the flight numbers 2,3,0,2; but when comparing its profile to the Discmania Sensei their shape is almost 100% identical. Could it be that it is (almost) the same mold, considering that it is the same producer (I must say that the Gui feels a touch more premium though usually with less flashing and then also the two different grip zones under it)?
    If you have access to the Gui (either in baseline Tiger plastic which is amazing, or in the more premium Dragon plastic) a comparison with the Discmania Sensei would be amazing!

      My Skygod is a wobble monster. It flips and goes further than I want. It bounces out of the chains like no other putter too. It is easily in my top 5 worst discs of all time. Discmania is so good at marketing, but the discs aren't ideal imo.

I have had some friends throw both and they seem to agree with me as well.

    All Active/Base plastic by Yikun for DM is between 165 and 170g but they go above to 172g and such. It's true for Sensei/Shogun/Maestro/Genius/Magician/Mentor. Don't think Majesty or Rockstar can be found in base plastic. Most of the discs aren't new but renamed. Sensei is formerly the Guardian Warrior and then the Tiger Warrior.

    • @ApolloDiscGolf
      @ApolloDiscGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      *Old Discmania molds, there seems to be an unofficial story of the "animals" in Discmanias lineup having to be renamed to not get mixed up with Innovas own "animals". There was another plausible story as well but thats my take :)

      I think the Pure and Sensei would probably fill the same spot, I think they would be pretty similar in both flight and feel. And the Jokeri feels every different, closer to a Pig in feel. But I am loving the Jokeri! It’s a great overstable putter between something like the Pure and a Zone type disc. But I would put it closer to the Zone than the Pure. I bag it to fill the slot between my premium Luna and my Zone!

      Sensei is a little more stable (not overstable) but considerably shallower in the feel. I think Sensei copy the envy mold Bc when comparing the two they are almost identical molds. Also note a heavier Sensei was deeper Bc the light one I got took off weight by less deep rim
