    Great demo and absolutely incredible spin rates! I tested the hell out of my grip options, forehand included. Realized the disc wasn't ripping from my hand and jumped from 56 to 60 mph with a couple hundred more RPMs, all in two sessions! Clearly not a problem you have, but you'll find all sorts of A/B tests to run.

    I have one of these. It's pretty cool seeing all the metrics. I always thought I throw nose up but I don't, it's my launch angle that is too high. Also I've been told I throw anhyzer but it's actually hyzer. Neat to know.

    Mason Ford taught me to relax my shoulder back when throwing. He’s like 5’4” and 130lbs and throws 67 mph.
    I tend to push my shoulder socket back with the reach back. It is not beneficial unless the return to the resting position is in perfect timing.

    Hey man, I’m a short guy like you, with smaller hands as well. I had a real problem with throwing nose up for a long time. You still bomb, and I’m stuck at 380’, but here’s something that helped me get the nose down. I took my index finger off the rim completely, so my “power” grip is my middle, ring and pinky fingers only. The index finger just kinda rests on the outside of the rim. This way I don’t have to pronate my wrist down so much. This made a huge difference for me. Love the channel!

    • @seanthomas7305

      You can try what overthrow has suggested.
      Just hold the disc out in front of you (arm fully extended forward) with your off arm, at a nose down angle. Then with your throwing arm/hand, grab the disc while keeping it at that angle.
      Your fingers will end up how you personally need to hold it to achieve that nose down angle

    I'm interested in seeing long-term reviews. I have my doubts about gluing a more rigid piece of plastic (the sensor) to a flexible piece of plastic (the disc) and then yeeting it into a backstop a thousand times. I'm concerned that the flex might fatigue the epoxy over time and we won't see the effects until a given disc has 10,000 throws or so. I definitely want one, but I want to know how long they last first.

    • @BodanzaDiscGolf
      @BodanzaDiscGolf  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    • @40ozMonkey

      @@Quixote56 It's 100 throws a day for ~3 months. That's a lot if you're talking about playing rounds. It's well within the possibilities of an offseason training program, and probably on the low end for a disc golf store that's advertising Tech Disc sessions.

    23:05 I noticed the same thing with my techdisc. The harder I tried to throw fast the slower it goes. Not by much but when I smooth one out it and be more form oriented, the faster my speed is and better my nose angle. I definitely need to throw like 2-3 thousand throws with the slower smooth throw before building it up. Simon said on uli’s channel, muscles are dumb. Muscle memory is hard to create and takes time. It is possible and is a thing, it just takes time and effort.

  • @matth8311

    So, obviously take this with a HUGE grain of salt considering you're way better than I am, but I got one piece of advice recently that has been a game changer for me and that might help with your "wrist pop". That advice was "feel like you're pressing down through your thumb" during the wrist release. At 16:37 it looks like you're basically showing a perfect example of the feeling I've been going for. I'm loving all of the form content- a lot of the form content on YT seems to be beginner-focused and/or pretty "high level" so it's awesome to have some longer-form (heh) stuff really going into detail!

  • @NickCarroll
    @NickCarroll 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wobble is an important metric, but it's nearly impossible to have 0 wobble. But the closer you are to that, the better. The more wobble you have, the more gyroscopic forces are needed to correct. Also the more wobble, the more understable the disc is, and the more the disc flips up during the early part of the flight. That wobble will also slow the disc down a lot in the early part of its flight.
    You're right in that the limb's placement, movement, and rotation is determined by the upstream joint. So it helps to look upward as a part of causal analysis for any issue downsteam.

    Yeah those things look super helpful. You said you want to ge the nose angle to around zero, I would think you would want it around -5 or so. In the negatives on that disc, that would be nose down right? Thanks for posting this, if I get one I'll use ur name.

    • @samhowl1152
      @samhowl1152 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's more nose down the faster it's thrown. At speeds he was hitting 3 to 4 degrees negative is nose down. He is actually severely nose up.
      Most people grip the disc harder as they come through the shot. With improper grips and a generally poor understanding of form and how discs fly, it's an easy mistake to make. But honestly kind of an embarrassing issue to have still at his speeds. He such have been addressing this before all his other issues

    Tech disc is awesome for instant feedback. I got a driver and have been using it for a month or so now; it's great to experiment with. I've been waiting to see your numbers since we are in similar places in our form journey (chasing 500') and have similar physiques. Given this I assumed we would be in the same ballpark; and for the most part we are, EXCEPT your spin is insane. Mid 1400s are some pro level RPMs there, freaking congrats. I cannot break 1200 for the life of me right now, has to be the final whip at the end of the motion I'm missing. Side note: I also discovered I was losing power with more steps as well (with what I thought was a more athletic approach). I found fewer steps allowed me to make sure my plant foot got down so my hips could do their job before my upper body got too excited and went off on its own. Anyway cheers.

    This definitely seems like a viable tool for advanced players looking to see instant results when making tweaks and changes to their form, but wonder if it would be useful to a more novice disc golfer......someone like me 😂. I struggle to throw close to 300', and in all honesty I probably average closer to 250' on my drives. I want to add more distance to my throws, wonder if this would help someone like me, who has a ton of flaws in my form, or if I should hold off til I get better with my throws.

    There's another one coming out called Gameproofer and you attach it to your own disc. It's $100 cheaper, but it does not measure nose angle. I think that's one of the main reasons that the tech Disc is glued on. It's calibrated to measure nose angle. Because of that reason, I went with the Tech Disc. ...Gameproofer says they may eventually be able to measure nose-angle, but I don't know if it would be accurate when placed on different discs.

I used the link to take a look at options and the pricing looks good for nets, but I will probably only do 7x7 when I get one for indoor work in my basement. Rpm barely effects distance, rpm mostly makes discs slightly more stable past about 1000 rpm if you're in the 700 rpm range you probably want to work on spin, if you're at 1000rpm and 50-55mph youre fine if youre at 65-70 mph and only 1000 rpm, then increasing spin can help you have more discs the fly more stable but thats about it.

    • @Iliyena87
      @Iliyena87 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well... it makes more stable discs stay in the air longer as well, like... adds glide further into the slow speed phase, so pushing the dump further and further, to the point discs except the Tilt and Zone OS-esque discs just seem to have other flights for the pros. Seen some nasty lovely late turns instead of the fade kicking in this year on tour, I'm
      thinking this is part of it.
      I also think extra spin lets the disc retain speed longer, like if I hit a treebranch slightly with high rpm it won't take away the distance as much beacuse of the spin being the thing lost mostly.
      Will be interesting in some years to read about actual studies towards discs and such, miggt already exist some studies about discus.

      I feel sorta the opposite. I get if anthony just wanted one to review and then send it back. phone reviewers do things like this a lot. Though, it's different if he he's trying to flex his clout to get a free one and make a video on it. I'm not saying that's what he's trying to do, but that seems a little bit self-centered if it is. Just cuz you're a big disc golf channel doesn't mean you should feel entitled to free industry products. I will agree that it's odd they didn't try and come to some sort of sponsorship deal though. The company could at least try and work out a fair deal so both parties can benefit.

    The video isn’t over yet but it looks to me like the correlation is your nose angle at release has the biggest impact on speed and was the overall most important, impactful statistic out of all the variables. This is strictly just my arrogant opinion at first glance

    You don’t care about wobble because you seem to naturally be good at that. But… I believe wobble is super critical to improve for most. For me it was. Went from over 6 to sub 2 average when using the disc. A good thing you’d think?

    • @NickCarroll
      @NickCarroll 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're right. Wobble is super important to minimize, though there's probably a law of diminishing returns with it. The closer you get to 0 the better, but it's likely impossible to completely eliminate it. But every bit helps.

      I believe this is a common view. Maybe the really light Sapphires are very flippy, but first time I threw a Sapphire thinking it would be really flippy I was really surprised about how stable it flew (at least mine). Maybe a review of a Sapphire could be interesting?

    • @NickCarroll
      @NickCarroll 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Nale72 I think since the Sapphire is in the "Easy to Throw" line it has that reputation, despite being the fastest and most overstable driver in that line. 🙂

    Nose angle needs to be 3 to 4 degrees negative. You're severely nose up. How you get to 65 mph but can't figure out how to throw nose down is amazing.
    The reason your nose angle sucks, is because you're trying to "throw flat".
    No matter how you feel, the disc orbits the player in a circular path. There is no flat. There is only hyzer or anny.

    If you are trying to internally rotate your shoulder more why are you resistance training external rotation exclusively? Makes no sense

    • @Iliyena87
      @Iliyena87 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Doing the internal rotation doesn't need training per se, to keep it from externaly rotating at the same time and avoiding injury over time, mucles and tendons around it needs to get beefed. But I get it not being clear, come after me if I am wrong, just started caring at all what my body does... just 20 years to late ;)

    I was in my backyard in NY and lost my Tech Disc and catch net on my very first throw😔.
    At least I was able to retrieve the data from the first throw, it registered 999 mph with 9,999 rpm 🥏💨🔥🔥🔥.
    The good news is I had my name and number on the disc👍, turns out someone 85 miles west of the Mississippi river in Arkansas found the disc and net on a farm🤗.
    Moral of the story if you have a powerful arm like myself 💪 back of your throw by 95% or you will be driving through four states to retrieve your tech disc and net 🤷.
