    These types of treadmills don't seem to get the credit they deserve. That's a fact. I tell everyone I know to get one.

    Most peeps don’t like manual treadmills. They buy one and then gets rid of it. Including me. But that’s a real nice looking good quality one there. The first manual I ever seen with a tension knob. Seems like manual treadmills are for athletes. Someone in great shape and advanced in muscle work.

    I was curious to know if these were more effective than a motor powered treadmill. I don't have the space (or money) for a motor powered treadmill, so I was looking into getting a manual.

      Manual treadmills are a great cardio choice for people looking for high-intensity fitness equipment. Motorized treadmills can do the same things as a manual treadmill and more. But they serve a different purpose. While a manual treadmill is good for building endurance for short high-intensity workouts, a motorized treadmill is ideal for the runner that is aiming for distance. Simply put, you don’t have to maintain a conscious effort to keep your speed over a long distance with a motorized treadmill.     How hard is the highest resistance level? I'm looking for a compact alternative to a weight sled for walking backwards and working my hamstrings.

      The resistance at level 16 is substantial and definitely challenging for walking.

      Put a fitness band on your legs. That definitely increases the resistance level.

    Do you need to hold the handlebars when you walk to create the "push" to move the treadmill belt? The reason I'm asking is that when walking you are supposed to swing your arms in front and behind your body and I don't see the girl in the video doing this.

    Can you still get a good workout or the same interval benefits if your manual treadmill has no resistance options?

      You can get a great workout on a manual treadmill without resistance, but the option to add resistance will make your workout more challenging, and help you to increase your fitness over time

      Manual treadmill work and it will work you hard !! Mine is incline and let me tell you a manual treadmill works me more than the electrical at my gym ! And it’s so much cheaper

      I'm getting the lower-priced Sunny Manual Treadmill without resistance settings. I'd think being manual and also with an incline, that would be enough energy output for a walking workout. I've read comments from some users saying it's already much more challenging than a motorized treadmill. Guess it depends on what you want out of it. I prefer walking as a longer duration, lower intensity calorie burning routine.

    I was gifted a manual treadmill
    without a resistance knob. Can I still do this workout?

    What if your treadmill doesn't have a way to change the resistance?

      Hi Charles! If your treadmill doesn't have the option to increase resistance, simply increase your intensity/speed instead during this portion of the workout.

      This workout is designed to challenge the strength in your legs as well as your cardiovascular fitness. You're welcome to lower the resistance during intervals as well as your pace to work up to the full settings in this workout overtime. As you get stronger and fitter you'll be able to manage higher resistances and push your pace faster.
