I'd like to mention that for Bowser's Whirling Fortress (Up Special) mashing the B button (or whatever you have Special set as) will allow Bowser continue spinning for a bit longer. This is crucial as it can give you the little more height or distance to reach stage ledge.
You forgot to mention his passive armor. Sometimes, bowser won't flinch if an attack is weak enough. This is great against little macs jab as it has no effect on Bowser aside from just damage
Also a little more to add about the down special is that if you're kinda close to the edge while someone is hanging off and you down special, it spikes them and you grab the ledge. Great way to piss someone off after ledge guarding with fire
Im a bowser main and i do occasionally charge a upsmash but just to negate down airs or characters with fall lag because bowser is always juggling the other players all over lol
I'm a Bower main too. I use down smash mainly when I'm up against a smaller character that likes to roll a lot. Up B out of shield is also handy. His up smash and forward smash are his bread and butter because of the super armor.
hey choc your forgot to say that bowser’s up B also goes higher/further if you mash B while performing it. just for everyone who wants to learn even more about bowser. edit: someone commented and his right, to go higher you need to mash towards the end of the up B, if you mash too hard the up B will go less high
I never really used Bowser before, but in Ultimate he just clicked with me. His forward air is arguably his best attack. I noticed a lot of Bowser players neglect using Whirling Fortress on the stage, but it's actually a really solid tool.
Whirling Fortress is okay, but the grounded version is worse in Ultimate, as it's no longer a super viable out of shield option. The rest of his kit is a lot better than older games, though.

@@JustCameronT I like to camp by the ledge with it as players try to get back onstage, cause with a bit of luck you can spike recovering players at a slightly diagonal angle away from the stage.
Also down b i breaks shield of high enough, usually throw some down airs, to see if they block or dodge out. If they block the down air, you can switch it up with a down b for a easy kill.
got knocked into orbit, but not KOd as bowser earlier. while falling from the atmosphere i pulled it into a wicked sick ground pound. Like the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, the 3 other players below were instantly vaporized when i finally landed.
If you tilt down forward tilt when someone is grabbing ledge, you can 2 frame people. Plus it's just really good for hitting people on ledge on general. Also don't use down tilt, everything it can do, down tilted forward tilt can do it better.
Bowser is my main character, all his moves feel comfortable and his armour is perfect for me as I never shield (not out of ignorance, I can just only focus on a few things at once and I never think to shield) but a problem I have a lot with him is trying to perform a whirling fortress but not tilting the stick straight up enough and doing his grab/slam move instead, which leaves him open for a few seconds as he grabs the air.
I LOVE BOWSER!! I'm a Bowser main and Bowser lover for life! No matter what game, no matter how good his he, I am going to play as him no matter what! These tips really helped me to improve and now I can apply them to Little Bowser (Bowser amiibo)!
It should be noted that the ground pound also spikes in its earlier frames. It's also much safer to use as a spike because if you use it right next to a grab point, Bowser will automatically grab the edge and cancel the attack.
If you do it too much you can get read and punished though, and also if you hold shield too much as Bowser you will get grabbed into oblivion, something I've learned the hard way. It's a very useful tool but you gotta do more than that.
Bowser's a pretty simple and straightforward character, but don't let that fool you, his simplicity is backed up by raw strength, since his debut in Melee he has been one of my mains, and with each new game he has become better and better. The only thing I don't like about this version of Bowser is that they changed his down smash, I personally preferred the old static whirling fortress down smash.
Up air and if at higher damage, Up B make great juggling combo finishers because the knockback at the top of the screen takes you past the blast zone easily.
It makes me so happy to see my favorite gaming villain be such a good character in Ultimate. He's definitely one of my most played as I've always loved thicc bois with tons of power.

Consider your opponent’s vertical recovery distance before attempting it. Also, you can influence the direction Bowser moves depending on your and his damage. You can sometimes prevent Bowsercides this way, and in specific circumstances where Bowser has high damage and yours is low, you can actually cause him to self-KO even if he didn’t mean to. I’m always surprised how few people on Quickplay seem to know this.
This is a good breakdown of Bowser's moveset, however to learn and get better at Bowser I would suggest TG Statics guide video, as a Bowser main his video helped me out a good amount
the down shell spike can return you to the stage pretty quickly if you've been launched upward and gives you some maneuverability instead of the straight down butt slam which is good against someone like cloud if they're charging their limit break
On the one hand, I'm kinda disappointed they didn't make Bowser's Side Smash his BIS punch, but at the same time his Spartan Kick Side Smash is honestly just as bad-ass. Also, can we just call his Side B the "Koopa King Cannonball"?
I've been a Bowser main ever since I started playing smash, and I'm really good with him now. I'm always able to dash quickly at an opponent, catch them off guard, and rack up lots of damage at the beginning of the match. I really like to turn the whirling fortress air into a juggle combo, and do insane amounts of damage and knockback. If I get them all the way to the top of the stage, it can KO at the very start of the match, and at any damage percent. Although many matches have ended with me losing because I got too cocky, and missed a few ground pounds, and got caught off guard. Really the only characters that have a decent chance of defeating me with Bowser are other heavies like Donkey Kong, Bowser, and King K. Rool. Other than that, I can tank my way through any medium to lightweight mains with ease.
pro tip from a bowser main: never underestimate his up-b, it is probably one of the best out of shield options in the game as well as racking up great damage easily, and also kills suprisingly easily in the air off the top.
No mention of tough guy, any of his armor, how to properly up b, how down b breaks shields, or how good fire breath is in neutral? I wouldn't call this a "complete" guide.
I'm pretty fine at smash, nothing comp-worthy or anything, but playing Bowser makes me *feel* like I could do competitive. He's just a fun mindless character and I love him. Also, should've mentioned that spamming B while using whirling fortress will make him travel higher.

Best part about bowser is that he has the most armor out of all the characters but the only down side is his lack of mobility besides but his moves pay it off like nothing. But the biggest problem is that he can get spiked poorly.
Bowser Dash Attack should be used as a combo finisher more than a starter. Back air to dash attack or forward air, forward air, dash attack also works, there are a few more variants, but dash attack has too much ending lag to be used as a good combo starter
One thing about Bowser's DSmash It's his fastest smash attack, but it's also great at ledge covering. If the opponent jumps then you can chase with an Uair. Getup attack, well, it's BOWSER. It's not gonna do nothing.
Tips that I don’t believe he said: His recovery you can mash B or whatever the Special button is for you and it will go slightly higher than normal Down B Can Break shields if you hit the nice spot for it Forward Air is one of his best moves off stage abuse the shit out of it Have fun!
Adding to that -Pretty sure some of his smashes have armor -Opponents can influence his side b at lower percents(ex. tilting it away or towards the edge of the stage) -Also his unique passive tough guy, which makes it so that he can hit through rapid jabs and certain aerials
I love these videos, but I think when you do dlc, you should use them for at least a week and try to get more used to them, but this series is still amazing

I have used it for spiking, you can change your direction in the air so you can just spike right next to the edge and go back to the stage.

I just started learning browser. His recovery really hurts me. So many time have I not been able to get back to stage.

I’m not sure if you know but you can bowser while he’s doing his down air, it makes for a good unexpected move for defense against combos and juggles.

Whirling Fortress has better vertical recovery if you press Up+B, wait a bit, and then mash B. It goes more horizontal if you mash the whole time.
If you catch someone in your fire tilt the fire upwards and you can do crazy damage that most characters can't get out of.
