    There's nothing better than being in your tent, all wrapped up in your sleeping bag with hot food and drink in your belly whilst it freezing and/or blowing a gale outside! Absolutely love it and always get called nuts for loving it 😂

    After watching this and other reviews I placed an order for a Soulo BL. Where I hike it is usually easy to avoid the wind when setting up for the night but we have lots of snow so a sturdy tent has it's place.
    For summer use I ordered the 200 g lighter Red Label poles for this tent, the tent then coming to a total weight of 2.6 kg.
    I have a Staika and a Kaitum 3 GT for hikes with my wife, both being around 4 kg, but for solo trips this Soulo is a bit lighter to carry. For some reason the Anjan and other 2 kg'ish models do not look sturdy or feature rich enough for me. Muscles I can train but missing features and comfort in a tent I cannot add.

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Reynold, thank you for your comments... Yes thin fabrics just dont have the durability to last the test of time in harsh conditions.... A good shout with the lighter poles here as the guy lines support the poles very well in the first place... The Annan has 20d fabric on the outside and 10d I think on the inner... seriously light and not for me either... Totally agree re the fitness thing and actually keeping your own body weight in order.... ATB Tom

I just bought the Hilleberg Soulo (tough to get here in Canada!) and I'm very excited to take it winter camping once things freeze up here. Your review that you did on the Soulo was by far the most informative and detailed I've seen, and you helped me with the decision process. It has great volume for a one person tent. I also have a Hilleberg Akto and my next video will concentrate on the internal space for both tents, demonstrating exactly how much inner and vestibule space is available. I will also show the height of the tents at different points. ATB Tom

    Is there any other 1 man tents u recommend ? I feel tents need to be able to take high winds, trying to get a hilleberg soulo but no avail, I seen the v25 can't take high winds , what you think of the Vango F10 2 man tent? Again quality camping video, where abouts on mournes was that?

    • @TOMHEANEY100
      @TOMHEANEY100  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I take it you mean the F10 Mountain 2 tent? Fully geodesic so should be strong. I have looked at them a couple of times. The fabric selection and weights are about right as is the actual tent weight. You are looking at a big range of tents from 1 to 3 man!! As an alternative to the Soulo consider an Akto. As alternatives to the Vango consider more premium products such as North Face MTN25 or Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 or Hilleberg Nammatj 2. These will also hold their value better and are more expedition tested. I have good personal experience with all of these recommendations but there are many more opinions out there too. I hope this helps. Get in touch again if you need any more detail or another product comes to mind. I have also worked in the outdoor retail industry and have experience of other brands too. @@iasonioannes7884 If it was me, I would rather wait and go for the Hilleberg Soulo. I have the Soulo myself, and it’s a bomber tent. It can take just about anything, and gives peace of mind in a challenging situation. The Soulo has been used in the Himalayas on expeditions, and that says something. Personally I would never trust a budget tent in adverse conditions. There are of course a lot of great tents out there, but finding the right one can be tricky and expensive. I live in Norway. And just like people in the UK, I’ve been out in bad weather before. The Hilleberg Soulo is tried and tested, and I wouldn’t trust my life with anything of lesser quality.

      Hi, thank you for your opinion and we all have different ones... At least this is constructive criticism thank you. You see this is an adventure channel about testing outdoor gear in harsh conditions. The winds were only 40mph max and that actually is well within the limits of this tent. I am extremely familiar with this location and enjoy a bit of a challenge provided the risks are well managed. There are a number of Hilleberg tent owners who spend big money on their tents (which are designed for harsh conditions) and never use them to this function. This is to me is foolish but that just shows the difference in opinion of different people... ATVB Tom
