@@StephenJReid cheers! fairly new, subscribed for a couple of weeks or so. I’m catching up on the back catalog, great stuff - lots of fun! Was drawn to this video after searching ‘Osprey Stratos 36’ in the general search, TH-cam suggested this video high up the list
Thanks! Didn’t mention maps, but the location we camped isn’t somewhere I’d bring a paper map and compass as very clear trails. Although always make sure I’ve offline maps on my phone and fully charged.
Thanks Ben! The Mini 2 doesn’t have as much dynamic range as the Air2s but if you expose for the sky and brighten the shadows a bit afterwards. Still great results!
@@StephenJReid Yes I was surprised how much detail it was able to recover with the smaller sensor - perfectly exposed! The Air2S’ ability to recover highlights is incredible.
I always thoroughly enjoy watching your vids. Your seemingly natural comedic persona and obvious genuine enthusiasm is infectious. That drone footage in the intro, the scenery, the music... BOOM! Great video, Sir 👍🤙😎
Brilliant video, I've added a few of those items on my wish list now. I've had that bag for about a year now and still love it after your recommendation.
Stephen J Reid definitely the hand warmers. I'm also looking for a 1-2man tent, I have the vango Cairngorm 300 tent when I have my little lad with me so need something for myself. Would you recommend the OEX? I'm 6ft 4 and would be unsure if it would be a bit snug. Oh and definitely a cheeseboard on the list also.
Hmmm you might find that tent a bit snug. I’m 5’11 and with a few things stored above my head, my feet nearly reach the bottom. Although I suppose you could store everything in the sides.
Love the video, I tend to only day hike in the mournes, so carry slightly different gear, wee fold up foam mat instead of the chair, and I also carry a 2 person Bothy Bag after seeing the Mountain Rescuce recommend them(with a foil blanket inside a small IFAK\0, also on dry weather days like you i leave the waterproofs home, but i will have a festival onetime use poncho in a side pocket for just in case.
This was my first summit camp too! Worked out perfectly. I debated using my bivvi but was unsure of forecast so this was next best thing. What way did you bivvi? Use a tarp as well or just open air?
@@StephenJReid We took the risk and just went open air. Thankfully it didn't rain on us haha. There was a 24 hour race on as well so a few headlamps passed us in the night...thought it was sheep coming for us!
I first discovered your channel because a video was recommended by TH-cam. (I was looking to upgrade my vlog kit, at the time). That said, I subscribed immediately. Your videos are top notch, informative, entertaining, and just a great time. Whether hiking, a run, or review, it’s all top notch. I just wanted to say thank you, Stephen. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻
How many times did Mr.Doyle walk around in circles before pitching his tent? I've the bigger brother (Phoxx 2) to your tent, for the money I think it's a cracking tent, wild camping doesn't have to cost the earth. Great shots as always, the views and tranquility from Eagle are breathtaking.
The bigger version definitely looks a bit comfier!! I wouldn’t use mine in really cold or wet weather as it’s near impossible to change inside it. I do own 6 different tents though 😬😬
Drone (DJI Mini2) weighs 249grams and the controller about 390grams. Can’t fly In rain or strong winds but you can fly in the cold if you keep the batteries warm. Although it does have official limits of 0C but I’ve flown it down to -5C
@@StephenJReid Yes... Jokkmokk in Northern Sweden. The land were we never get rid of the sun during summer and never will see the sun during winter. 😀 /Matti
@@JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA Land of the midnight sun. Sounds amazing. How many days do you go without sun in the winter? We are far enough north that this time of year the sky doesn’t get completely dark at night, sunset 10:10pm, sunrise 4:44. So there is a blue glow all night.
@@StephenJReid During winter we sometimes get a month or two without seeing the sun... But somedays it's because of clouds. I think it's acctually just a couple of weeks without sun every winter. That's not so bad. We have the snow and that make our life little bit brighter. ...and after a summer without sunset it's lovely with some dark nights.
This made me laugh. You're like the opposite of 🐻 Grylls in kit but same happy personality. Lots of nice toys you have. Now go wash that sleeping bag. Tech Wash. Easy peasey.
Amazing you can put so much stuff in that 36 L pack, enjoy your platter and appreciate your candid approach to videos, relaxing and informative !
Thanks Albert 🙂

Love my osprey packs!! I might have a problem owning 5 different kinds but they are so well made I've had them for years!
Yeah I love them, have a couple. So comfortable!

Poncho is a good shout! I would also just carry a foam mat on a day hike. Might look into those bothy bags!
Me and a few mates were up Slievenaglough that night too...sunrise was insane! Tent looks a lot nicer than our bivi bags haha

Need a few tubes of craft beer in there, or maybe a small bottle of plonk to go with the cheesy platter. Enjoyable video.
Thanks Andy 🙂

Great video!! Great enthusiasm. Thanks. By the way, the food packet is not Sea To Summit. It is Summit to eat.
Thanks and good point! My green pillow is Sea to Summit so I mix them up. Was terrible the day I ate my inflatable pillow.
@@StephenJReid Funny. I thought exactly the same thing!!
brilliant
Didn't see an evening tipple amongst your kit. That's more necessity than most things 😆🍺
Haha not sure I’d agree if sitting up there having brought a tipple and no tent 😂
Wow nice sir
Walnut cheese boards are absolutely essential on all wild camping trips!😂
Haha, absolutely, don't leave home without one!
Wish it was me!!!

Hip flask with medicinal brandy...few good pointers there.
For all kinds of emergencies 😁 Think I’ll revisit this when I do a forest camp, definitely a few differences!

What’s the little camping seat make? Any good?
OEX maybe. Can’t quite remember. Was a long time ago now

Amazing how you could fit 72 liters of gear in to a 36 liter backpack!!!
