2016 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Rear Folding Seat Modification

  • What’s up everybody? This is a video on how to modify the rear seat of a Ram Crew cab to be able to fold down the seat for access behind. This is a great way to gain access to hide car audio amplifiers, tools, or custom gun racks. PLEASE NOTE: Do this mod at your own risk. If you cut the bracket too short the seat may not latch and may cause a safety issue.
    Overall, this mod is pretty easy. I made one small mistake and accidently nicked my seat cover/seat on the back with the grinder but you dont even notice it. Just be more careful than i was when cutting the brackets. When cutting the brackets start with small cuts at a time.

    Thanks for the video. Much easier mod than adding a bunch of washers under the mounts.

    Best version of a Ram 2500 quad cab rear seat mod/fix I've seen yet! Reason being I want to put my
    XM 177 e2 back there. Just didn't want to mod it in just any fashion. Was going with raising the seat but didn't want to change the height geometry although it wouldn't be bad because I have a big amp under the seat and raising it would help keep it running cooler. Decisions, decisions??? 🤤😂

    Another option is to raise both rear seats by 3/4 inch .. just need longer bolts and a metal or wood spacer. This way you could return to factory if you wanted.

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I thought about doing it that way but was worried about the seat not being fully secured for safety and losing head room. But absolutely, spacers would work.

    • @davidmueller2780
      @davidmueller2780 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only problem is back seat won’t lock in if you raise the seat

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  ปีที่แล้ว

      True, so if you need a speaker box for example that requires you to add spacers, I would suggest adding spacers first and then cut small adjustments as needed.

    • @djmjr77
      @djmjr77 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, as long as you haven't cut the seat holding bracket, the 3/4 inch raise will lock and allow you to fold the seat down if you want.. did it to my truck

    • @djmjr77
      @djmjr77 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And just for clarity.. I used 3/4 inch plywood which is technically 23/32 in the states. Just in case the measurement diff matters ..

    Hey brother nice video. quick question are the seats able to fold flat or only as far as your folded em in the video?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  ปีที่แล้ว

      They don’t fold flat as the seats were not designed that way but if you need it for hauling something it may compress flatter with weight on top.

  • @crazycanuck4927
    @crazycanuck4927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It doesn’t look like there is a lot of room behind there once the seat is back into place…. May have to trim some of that liner behind for anymore room… great video… I might try this on my 17 3500

    What keeps the seat backs from flying forward during a hard brake without the latches?

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The latch still hooks on. When you lift the bottom seat up it look fits the back latch up too. When you trim the back latch just a little shorter, when the bottom seat lifts it lifts the top latch just enough to unhook.

Everything else was fine. I even stated this in the description of the video. I’m not perfect and never claimed to be. I make mistakes like everyone me else. 👍🏼
