I saw this one video on seat covers where the guy was showing off how great his seat covers are. I think they were from Luckyman Club. Anyway, it was weird because there was this huge black stain on the supposedly brand-new seat cover - driver's side. As to this guy, it's really inspirational to see how he overcomes his handicap as an amputee and dopes the installation one-armed - kudos for not allowing the loss of an entire arm to get in your way.
Excellent tips for fitting seat covers! That issue with hiding the gap on non-powered passenger seats is universal, but I found a simple why, to fix it. You just need 3 pieces of black elastic and, 3 of those metal hook retaining clips. Either get the elastic from the straps on old seat covers you are replacing, or you can get it from a craft store. Make a loop with the elastic and sew the non-loop ends to the inside edging of the new seat cover at that gap area - attach one where the seat bottom cover will slip behind the reclining handle, and another one 1/2 the way between and the 3rd just before where the seat edging wraps around to the front of the seat bottom. Attach the metal hook clips to each of the 3 elastic loops and feed under the plastic edge & hook them under the seat. Is it being OCD...yea, probably but, it's worth that little extra step, to get that same clean and smooth look, on both the drivers and passenger side.
Just installed front seat covers on my Tacoma. Your video was a big help. One suggestion I have to expedite attaching the metal clips under the front of the seat is to locate a good metal bar or hole in a piece of metal in the proper location and fasten a zip tie there and just clip onto the zip tie.
I've had these for a few months now and they are great! People think they are factory leather. I was having a little trouble with the bottom cover wanting to shift forward leaving a gap. But I just did your trick of using just one disc tying the back and bottom together on each side, (for a total of two discs per seat instead of four) and that solved the issue! Now they are perfect! Thanks for the tip. Nice job on the video. I have subscribed. 😊👍
@@upthecreekyt They have held up well. I just wish they were an inch or inch and a half longer on the seat bottoms. I'm always having to re-adjust them and pull them back to cover the exposed gap where the seat bottom meets the bottom of the back. That is the only issue I have with them. Hopefully they're cutting them longer now.
I bought a set of those for my new to me 2011 Ranger XLT..Mine were blue and white to match my blue exterior..They were easy to install..fit like gloves, and smelled like a new interior..Now, a year later, they are still ACES !!! They were just beautiful.
The Carhart Precisionfit seatcovers are just as impressive. Different material philosophy, but just as well designed and cut to give the impression they were put on at the factory. Took 4 hrs to install just the front seats on my Tundra, using two hands!
I just ordered a front set from luckyman and have watched a few install/ review videos. They all look good, but they all have the little imperfections you mentioned due to improper install. I'm so glad I found this video and now I'm even more excited for my covers to arrive. I'm now confident that they'll look amazing Edit - they look so good! I never thought relatively cheap seat covers would make my interior look even better. They look just as good and factory as in this video. Highly recommend to anyone still on the fence. I went with one that cover the sides. Not sure I would have looked the one with the entire side uncovered. They still have a pocket for the side air bag
I installed these in a tacoma for a customer after I detailed the truck and was super impressed... im trying to find some that will fit the mercury....but there high backs and I can't find anything..... there are a few companies similar to LMC and I can't find anything that'll work... but can attest to these being great!
Hey man just wanna say I got these for my car not too long ago and your video has helped me greatly in doing this task! One of the best DIYs I’ve ever seen… Great Job!!
Great work man, very detailed instructions. It brought some light into some questions I have. I ordered mine last week and still waiting. I’ll come back to this.
I purchased these covers after watching your video! I found that in order to reinstall the clips that you removed at 4:30, required me to remove the seat as my hand couldn’t fit under there to clip them back in to the factory location. It also allowed me to make sure the front clips were anchored correctly under the seat making sure not to anchor to a cable. No need to remove the seat from the truck but having that extra room by tilting the seat, was key for my installation.
Thanks for the video I just put the same ones on my Taco I put some leather conditioner on the them now my truck smells like leather and you can slide in and out easier
I bought these also for my TRD Sport didn't need back ones that seat will hardly be used anyway thanks for the video I used 4 of those clips per seat worked fine
It is a good video with a lot of details and neat look. The only issue is the side airbag, the seat cover will hinder the deployment, god forbid something bad happens.
that looks really nice. I got another seat cover, the drivers seat is the worst getting the clips under the seat is almost impossible to clip together due to the eletric motor for moving the seat.
You are the best I've ever seen you have shown me exactly how to do it with out a problem I watch other videos and could not get the jest of it they didn't seem to know what they were doing you are awesome you are number one in my book
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of getting seat covers for my new F150. However, you didn't go into any detail regarding the side air bags. I was wondering how seat covers work with side air bags?
Had these for a year now, great look and decent for what it’s meant to do but the material that actually touches your seat is weak. It crumbles all over your seats over time.
Found your video while looking for seat covers for my 2020 Lexus RX350 I just purchased. I wish these were available for mine. Great job on your video.
I found it necessary to unbolt the seats but not bother to remove them entirely, just tip them forward or backward, in order to get access. Not a big deal - very simple and made the process so much easier (for me). Something I found different on my 2012 Tacoma was that my driver's seat was exactly as your video showed (needed to release the clips from the bottom flap of the factory seat in order to pass the 'pucks' through) - however, the passenger side did not require that step at all - the 'pucks' simply pass through between the upper/lower sections of the new covers. Pretty odd they'd make them different.
I just bought some seat covers for my F150. Similar but not quite the same. I'm returning them to buy these. The headrest area on the ones I have is where I can't stand them. The headrest cover doesn't fit all the way around and the top of the seat is zippered and looks stupid. Great video. I would have used all 8 of those pucks.
I would think you would want to remove the original seat cover so there's no issues trying to line up tiny holes there website should say if they work or not
These look great but the passenger misfit and the headrest are deal breakers for me. If you raise the headrest the edge is exposed and the passenger side looks horrible. Although you doing that one-handed was pretty impressive!
I never thought of seat covers - I don't know why but I've had 2 cars with leather seats and one got a hole in the driver seat cuz of me and the other is looking rough. BUT I'm in the market for a new car so perhaps I'll put seat covers on to give them some longer life.
So I went to check out the same seat covers for my fourth generation ram 1500 and the seat covers available are the ones with the elastic man straps on the sides of the seat that don't give it a custom look like the ones you installed on your Tacoma?
I have a Lexus RX 350 Pebble Beach edition 2009... I got the fronts in just messing with the back set.. They day take the seat out .... What's your thoughts on that.. Thanks..PS. JUST SUBSCRIBED
You did a great job on your tutorial on a solo install of the seat cover. Sad that the company doesn't have a cover available for my frontier. Aren't katskins split leather that's thin? We used to have Katskins installed on a lot of vehicles.
