Thanks Kev! Yeah is like nearly year round really busy, was definitely a nice and quiet spot. Can't wait that the weather improves as I am almost out of rubbish weather tours now 😂
Great video Stripey 👏 cracking pitch ⛺ beautiful autumnal scenery in Glen Etive 👌 well done on the dodgy river crossing 😨 and getting out in the rain 🌧 good for the soul I reckon 🙏 atb Brian 👍
Thanks a lot Brian! Had the area for quite some time in my head and it was actually better than I thought particular due to the great autumn colours 😎 Cheers Stripey

What a great glen for a low level camp surrounded by awesome mountains. It all makes for an excellent setting. As ever a most enjoyable video to watch.
Hi Charles 👋, yeah absolutely, didn't think that Glen Etive is so beautiful. Can't beat the sound of running water paired with a mountain view for a wild camp! Thanks Stripey
Such a lovely area Stripey! Haven't actually seen anyone camping 'in' Glen Etive - seems like that the camping near the street is what people rather like to do. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot MaliceGLA, yeah probably it looks like it, but tbh. you can only see all the tents from the street and 'all' the other might be well hidden or probably more likely they don't film their Glen Etive wild camps 🤔😂
Great camp, watched murchies but missed this one, Been looking at the map as the spot was magic, Will have to try a camp down by the river, it’s always put me off as the valley is so busy, and never fancied leaving the car, but you two did it, a bit off season but I bet the roadside was still busy ? In the valley. Cheers for the views and video
Cheers mate! Thanks for watching - I wouldn't watch two of the identical videos either 🤔😎Finding the spots takes always some time and this one worked actually better out then I thought 😂. Yeah Glen Etive was pretty busy, not as mad as in season but again what is the season in Glen Etive? ATB Stripey
Fantastic views, colours! The sound of rain is so relaxing for some reason. The amount of work you put into your vids is much appreciated I’m sure by everyone. Keep up the great work Strippy 👍
It absolutely is, unfortunately it is also very busy - particular during summer and the street is a single lane with passing places where most people park in 😒, I actually promised myself after my last experience driving there in summer that I would never ever drive there again...
@@StripeyHatGuy My husband and I had the same experience when we stayed there in our van about three years ago. We hated it. He often climbs on the Buchaille so I plan to explore it more on foot.
The Buchaille is such a versatile mountain - probably one of my favourites as well 👍. Not sure if you are into 'scrambling' but if you like to be 'lonley' I can highly recommend one of the gully's up the Buchaille/Sron na Lairig or even Sron na Creise.
@@StripeyHatGuy I did used to scramble and rock climb but felt unable to do so after I had children. My husband still climbs at the age of 69. I am 71 and still manage to walk long distances.
That was a different scenery, pretty nice surrounding. You really must change your hiking boots for a pair of fishing waders , you hike most of the time in the water 😅 thanks for sharing
Another amazing video! ☺️🙏 you have such a brilliant personality for the videos and you seem like such a nice person ☺️🙏 It's brilliant to see someone who loves scotland like I do 🏴❤️🏴 keep at it 💪👊
Good stuff Stripey. It is legal to camp in most remote locations in Scotland under the Land Reform Act so you'd have been within your rights to camp there. The No Camping sign may be a response to previous campers who have left litter etc rather than following the "Leave no trace" ethic.
Thanks a lot mate, good to know! Yeah is a kind of a downside with busy and easy to reach places like Glen Etive that it attracts a couple of 'bad' wild campers who spoil it for the rest....
It is not as bad as people talk it. I used in the Alps like 90 percent of the time single wall tents (self-built) and now in Scotland for some time the duomid. Yes it gets wet inside but so far I had it not 'raining' on me when it is windy 😉. I think it is more important that you pick a descent camp spot than it would be with a double wall tent - the only hindrance in Scotland are the wee beast's for me 😎
Hi Kevin👋, yeah I did, only the river crossing was to deep for my shoes...said this I was wearing some 'sealskinz' socks for the first time and they worked fine. Thanks for watching! ATB Stripey
I've got to agree with Iain Mc, you have a right to roam , you are not breaking any trespassing laws by camping there , they can't stop you. It probably is someone's favourite fishing spot and don't want to share it with a camper 😅
Really enjoyed that Stripey. How do you get out so much? You must have a very understanding Boss :) ... has Robert got a utube channel ? and have you ever considered completing the munroes even in the future?M☘️
Thanks a lot Merky! Aye Robert has as well a channel - link in description 👍. No I haven't considered completing the Munro's, I had an Excel sheet for my peaks in the Alps for memories. For me it is really not about a number, rather for the experience I have...when I 'bag' some it is ok but I would never sit in the clag on top of a mountain just to get it 'bagged', for me it is about the views. Of course it can always happen that weather changes but heading knowingly on top of a mountain in bad weather is for me just pointless and even potentially dangerous 🤔.
@@StripeyHatGuy understandably so. I agree with you. I can only imagine the heights and views you've reached in the Alps for sure. For me also the wild camping and views are what it's all about. A fantastic glen, I camped overnight there beside the road and got my kids to collect bog myrtle to keep the midges away from the air vents, although I hate camping in the rain .... far too many soggy mornings carrying a heavy damp tent. Personally that sign would have ended up in the river, whether I intended to camp there or not. Probably some gillie from a local estate trying to mark out a fishing spot for paying customers. If in doubt regarding a dispute with landowners or their employees always suggest calling a policeman and of course video the incident. I bet they give up before the rambler does. As long as you're not invading someone's privacy (if they don't mow the lawn there it isn't a private garden) or damaging their livelihood you should be on the right side of the law.
Thanks a lot for the advice, good to know if I would ever run into a problem like that. This is actually how I understood the regulations: Not camping and or crossing gardens, out of sight and leaving no trace. The sign was for me on a kind of a random place tbh. might be a left over from the end of 'lockdown rush' where a lot of camper behaved like .... for the defence of the sign 🤔
That 'No Camping' sign is illegal under the Land Reform Act (Scotland) 2003. There are always some people that try to enforce English laws up here, but as much as they might want them to be, they are not valid in Scotland. If it was me i would have taken it down and brought it home with me.
That is actually interesting as I talked with Robert about it but tbh I am happy that we continued our hike - better views for sure and the river crossing gave as something to talk about 😉. Would have been a nice souvenir 🤔😎
