  • Filmed on location in the Scottish Highlands at the river Orchy which is a gold bearing river. The last time I was here I was absolutely blown away with the stunning scenery and how much gold there is to be found here. And yes, I did find a lot of lovely Scottish gold. If you are into gold panning and prospecting videos then this video might be just what you are looking for.
Gold Panning, gold sluicing, gold sniping, Gold prospecting, How to find gold gold in the UK, where to find gold in the UK, Is there any gold in the UK, gold panning and camping

Well I wish you and your family all the luck in the world, let me know when you make your first find of that precious gold, I’m sure Darren would say it’s a thrilling experience, but don’t expect to become a millionaire overnight! On other estates people just pan for recreational purposes and it appears to be tolerated but it's the bank diggers and people who use banned methods who cause problems for the hobbiest and the community in general.

Daz, That's Quite a sluice, A bit expensive for my pocket though. A Question, do you think that sluice is the reason for the big clean up? (Not taking anything away from your skills or hard work.) Congratulations, what did it weigh, if you do not mind?

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures
      @MrDazP1adv3ntures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hello Freeman BN, The sluice is designed in principal for moving a lot of material and getting through the buckets but on this occasion I wanted to try it out by just gently feeding it.
The difficulties on a river such as this one are the heavy black sands etc which fill the riffles up quickly and means that you have to do frequent clean ups. It seems to work well in both situations though but I always go back to basics with regards to how much gold you find. It has to be present in the ground at the spot you are working for you to have better outcomes. I think it goes to show that micro crevicing the cracks can pay off at the end of the day. I didn't bother weighing the gold from this trip as all I needed was enough to see in the pan in order to make a video worth watching.
Thank you for asking the questions.....

@@MrDazP1adv3ntures You are welcome and thanks for the reply, I realise now, they have different size sluices, was yours the 'super', it looks like it, the fact that you said they were made for those particular rivers impressed me. I think We will own one soon :)

Amazing video's Daz. I'm just planning on starting out with my kids, and I'm wondering if there are any rules on panning in rivers like landowners permission etc?

Hi Gareth, it's always better if you have landowners permission but some locations are well known for it taking place without.
You can get permits at Leadhills and Wanlockhead for a year though which is good news. Likewise up at Baile an Or.
Best of look with the hobby, I'm sure you will have loads of fun and learn something on every trip.
Keep me informed as well about your adventures.👍

@MrDazP1adv3ntures Hi Daz, Amazing thank you for the advice it's much appreciated. It's just hard knowing what's what starting out, and any tips on things like that and where to start is greatly appreciated. I love your channel, and your videos keep it up. It feels like I'm on the journey panning for gold with you 😊

Thank you Gareth, best of luck. Do your research, watch lots of tutorials, learn to read the river , practice how to pan with sand and a few small fishing weights and check them cracks in the bedrock. 👍😉

@MrDazP1adv3ntures Thanks Daz, It's much appreciated. I'm doing lots of research online to find places to go, and I ordered some paydirt for practice which is due to arrive on Friday which I'm looking forward too. Is there anywhere you'd recommend to sell the gold once I've accumulated a decent amount?

    • @MrDazP1adv3ntures

Good idea with the pay dirt for practice 👍
As for selling the gold, that's one thing I don't do.
There will people out there who are in certain circles who will offer you so much per gram for it or who then make up bags of paydirt themselves with a guaranteed amount of gold mixed in.
I just enjoy the adventure and fascination of it.
It is space dust after all ....

Hello Lucy, I've had a few trips out up to the Mennock and Leadhills this year and am hoping to get out soon.
Can I ask what kind of sluices are you are developing.
It's interesting when talking to other prospectors about what systems they prefer to use, but
by all means, if I can help you out I would be more than happy to.🙂👍

Anyone able to inform me about the legalities behind gold panning in Scotland? What permissions are needed? Genuinely wanting to give this a wee go, looks fun regardless of a find or not

If you go to the old Pine trees campsite up here they permitted panning in the river which runs by the pitches. It's changed it's name recently
