Love the German accent with Scottish slang, great sound, Stripey
oh that’s great, can’t do much about it 😂😂😂 Thank you
It’s a good mix, the two accents work well together. I love listening to it!
Home-made bread on a wild camping trip! That is impressive. I loved the wee gecko too - he seemed a bit sleepy. Maybe disturbed from his hibernation.
Thanks a lot! Yeah I know a kind of over the top but worth it 😂 Not sure even what the little fellow was but he was for sure not a quick one 😂😂😂
Thoroughly enjoyed that Stripey 👍 lovely spot, and therapeutic rainfall on the flysheet 🌧️⛺
Cheers 👍
That cooking setup is fantastic.
You are living like a king without the biscuit stripey. Beautiful location once again! 😊
Hahaha very true Jim!
It's great to see your wind screen and pot stand that you designed working really well! It still looks new and shiny!😀
Thanks a lot! Yeah it needs some more brews to fit to the rest of the kit 😂
Sometimes it’s just nice BE in the outdoors and enjoy the moment…..
👍
Great video. Watching this before a busy day rushing around London for work, this calms me for the day ahead. Thank you.
Thank you very much! Hope your day will be better than anticipated 🤞

Harsh weather but awesome overnight adventure. Clear and good info leading to the loch... Well presented and thanks for sharing stripey.👍👏
Thank you very much George!
Nice place for a wee quiet camp Stripey. Bread looked good 🍞😋

Nice camp Stripey, the cone looks like a great piece of kit.
Thank you very much! Yeah sure it is 😊🙌👍
Cracking pitch Stripey ⛺ chilling listening to the rain bouncing off the tent....bliss, top notch cuisine 👌 Empire biscuit for breakfast 🤤 great wee vlog atb Brian 👍
Thank you very much Brian! Was a brilliant time outside with a little excitement at the river crossings - can’t ask for more.

What a nice surprise to see another video this week Stripey! The FeatherLight 700 looks beautiful well done 🙌. Thanks a lot for sharing
The advantages of not having a schedule MaliceGLA 😉. Thanks a lot!
Stripey
Great video buddy as always
Thank you very much Craig 🙌
Nice to see you again 😊 nice new tent ⛺️ and your dinner looked good you cook.up a nice meal 😋
👋 Thanks a lot! Oh the tent is still the same, probably just looked a bit different as I am usually not filming so much inside - felt almost like a ‘tent’ day and I need to admit that I really enjoyed it. Just being outside, listening to rain and eating tasty food 😂
Hi Stripey 👋. The cone is superb, you must be happy. Such a peaceful spot too. Thanks for taking us along Stripey. Serk
Hi Serk 👋, thank you very much and yes I am 😊. Aye is a really nice spot for just being outside 👍
Always a great watch and I always check on the map your route.
Cheers 👍🏕️
Thanks a lot Dave! Really nice area for a short and enjoyable outing 👍
you two are out there doing it !!! well done - love your videos Stripey
Thank you so much!
Lovely video! I don’t mind the rain when I’m tucked up nice and warm inside my sleeping bag 🙂. Keep up the good work, I’ve liked and subbed 😃👍
Yeah absolutely, it is actually quite nice to listen to the sound even when it makes me for example really tired 😅
Thanks a lot for the sub!
Loch Dochard is so beautiful. The idea of baking fresh bread is wonderful but for me the best trekking food is Potato Scones.
Yeah absolutely! Oh I do really like potato scones as well - thank for bringing them back to my memory 😅🙌👍
They're not difficult to make either.@@StripeyHatGuy
Just so relaxing watching your brilliant vids. The colours of the surroundings and the tranquility are really apparent! Thanks Stripey👍
Oh wow, thank you so much Jeffrey.
Great camp Stripey, such a stunning location. That spaghetti Bolognese with the fresh bread looks good! ATB
Thanks a lot! Oh yeah it was, have the feeling that it will be my new go to meal 😎
Great adventure even if the weather was not the bedst. The camp at the lake is magic 😊😊😊
Thanks a lot! Aye it is just always worth going out or let me say it like this I never regretted when I went out 😎
What a beautiful area. That bread looked really good but I definitely wouldn’t enjoy an empire biscuit, as you said it would be much too sweet.
Yeah I am not doing it again :-)
...cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Nice video SHG 👍. I thought you were giving yourself a very long hike, before realising you were heading to Loch Dochard and not Loch Dochart (foot of Ben More) 😅 !
I wish 😂👍
I need to go back to Scotland again this year (did Cairngorms last year)
Oh you definitely should! So much more to explore here 😊👍
what a great wee spot. empire biscuits are just so heavy and stodgey, like a full meal in two bites
I kind of like them usually, but never had one in the morning and it got me cold…nothing for me! I am usually a bread and cheese guy for breakfast 😂
Hi Stripey, a cracking camp that in a stunning location, a nice little Island camp. Thanks for tak8ng us al9mg mate, all the best, Dave 😀⛰🥾🏴🏴🇩🇪🏕️
Glad you enjoyed it Dave! Thank you very much 🙌
Nice to see the new FeatherLight 700 in use. What is the tiny alcohol burner you are using?
Thanks a lot, It is just a self built one. A 30ml aluminium tin and some ceramic wool. I did a short video about it ‚DIY cheap and ultralight alcohol stove‘ or something like that it is called. It is leakproof and incredibly light.
Excellent little trip. 👍
Thanks a lot! 🙌
Nice video my friend, lovely camp.
I really like your tent set up, what tent is this?
Thank you very much Nikki! The tent I am using is the mld duomid.
Cheers
Stripey
Great video ( as always) and location looks like an ancient site out in the lake like that that was possibly once occupied. Lots of atmosphere! I am intrigued by your tent - can you tell me what it is ? Thanks GreenMan from Carpathian Mountains .
Hi GreenMan, thanks a lot! Yeah sure it is a mld duomid. Will probably do soon a review of it as I used it now for roughly a year (a little longer) in all seasons.
I did modify it and I am currently waiting for some pieces to arrive for the last modification. Said this in my ‚Gear 2023‘ video I give a short overview of the tent.
Thanks a lot

@@StripeyHatGuy great thank you . I may have missed that episode so I will have a look .
Good to see you again stripey 🎉
Oh that is nice, thank you! ☺️
Another great video. Scotland is such a beautiful country. I've just booked my train for the third week in May. Yorkshire to Fort William £43 one way. I intend to climb Ben Nevis for the first time. Set off 46 years ago, but the chap I was with wasn't up to Scafell Pike, one thousand feet lower, so carried on further north. However discovered Orkney and have been there many times since. Is your bread prepared with yeast or is it in unleavened?
Thanks a lot! Which route do you plan on doing Ben Nevis? Yeah the bread is with yeast, prepared it with roughly half the amount of yeast than you normally would do and put it over night in the fridge 👍
Edit: In summer I did mix it on the hills before but it is a kind of messy even when kneading in the bag.
At 76 years of age it's probably safest to use the Tourist Route. I always remember the height of Ben Nevis in feet. In the early 1950's my father's sister had a Morris Countryman with a Manchester registration. NB 4406. I am looking forward more though, to catching the train to Corrour station and walking back to Glen Nevis via Meanach bothy which you stayed at last year having approached from Kinlochleven. Afterwards I will catch the train to Glenfinnan and walk to Inverie via A'Chuil and Sourlies. I did this last May and thoroughly enjoyed it. Last Sunday walked over Wessenden Moor here in the South Pennines. Saw several mountain hares in their winter white coats. Nine miles at two miles an hour. As Billy Connolly used to say " marching through the heather you'll fall flat on your face". By the way you haven't followed my suggestion for an item about weather forecasts in Scotland. Was it not feasible? Regards Charles.
Nice camp. What boots are you wearing in this video ? Thanks
Hi Sean, I am wearing in this video the Altra Mont Blanc BOA. Why I choose this one I explain a bit in my 'Gear 2023' video.
In short: Really comfy shoes, quick drying, BOA system is fantastic - durability is around 600km with my type of tours (regarding the sole).
Cheers

@@StripeyHatGuy Excellent. Thanks for the info
Hi Stripey. I think you were using the BeFree for water before? Is there a reason you switched to the Platypus? Thanks.
Hi Chris,
yes I used the BeFree before. The reason that I swapped is that the BeFree needed (after nearly 1.5 years of use ) almost after every usage a proper clean with bleach and/or vinegar. I think I filtered just to much muddy water with it and kind of ruined it tbh. . When I was looking for a new filter I liked the idea of the Platypus as you can back flush it on the go. The flow rate is not noticable slower and I like that it can be detached from a bottle without dripping around (really good in the colder month when you need to put it in the sleeping bag against freezing) as well that it fits on nearly any supermarket bottle. What I don't like so much is the size of it, as I wouldn't leave it to my dirty water bottle attached - so I always unscrew it after every usage which gets a kind of annoying plus it doesn't really fit like this into my shoulder pocket holder (just to high sticking up, basically in my face).
I think they are both brilliant little filters and I do not know which one I prefer over the other. Probably the Platypus in the colder month and the BeFree in the other 2 seasons - but I don't see the advantage as this big that I would get a second water filter at this price point 😎
Hope you could follow my thoughts/impressions.
Thanks
Stripey
Thanks for the reply and thoughts :) @@StripeyHatGuy
Is that the MLD quilt too? Which temperature rating version is it, please? And how do you like it? Is the temp rating from them accurate, or do you feel warmer / colder than that? I was thinking of buying the same one, also with the green outer and yellow inner.
Hi, no the quilt is from enlightened equipment, the enigma custom (-6) but it is rather a -3 in my opinion. I am not sure if I would him again due to the baffle design and the down migration what happens with it.
@@StripeyHatGuyThanks for the reply. The MLD Spirit quilts look good. Synthetic though, not down.
Yeah apex is a good choice, I do believe that Sam is using an apex quilt - at least his winter sleeping bag is for sure. Said this I never had a problem with a down version.
Please can you tell me the recipe for your pasta bolognase? Is it freeze dried or something you make yourself. Thank you ❤
Hi Matthew 👋, I am doing it myself. Have a video about it, something like ‚Dehydrating my favourite backpacking meal‘.
Thanks
Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy can you link the video. It always looks lovely 😍
@@matthewwoodward2738 will do later on tonight or tomorrow- just on my way to my parents in law
@@StripeyHatGuy OK let me.know 👌
Can I ask what you film your walks with stripey? I was considering getting myself a hero12 bundle to film my own adventures. Do you have any recommendations/tips?
Hi Ross sure! I use a GoPro 7 when it gets steep/scramble and otherwise just my phone (google pixel 3 xl/ or my work iPhone). Used before a bigger camera (Fuji XT2) but the lack of image stabilisation was a kind of annoying 😂
I think a GoPro is an excellent camera, waterproof and hustle free. My tip would be just using what you have and have a look if you enjoy it. You will pretty soon figure out what you need vs. what you like vs. what you can afford.
I personally spend my money rather on gear than on camera stuff for filming - I guess other people might be a better resource 😂
@@StripeyHatGuy thanks for the advice. I’m definitely going to go for a GoPro. It will be great to keep all my treks and look back on them some day. Thanks
@@rossturpin859 no problem mate! Thanks Stripey
I want to walk from Forest Lodge to Taynuilt. Looks possible but don't know what the path is like past Loch Dochard. Anyone know? Anyone done it? It's a long walk to do in a day, if the path is bad it might not be possible.
Haven’t walked the complete bit only past Beinn Suidhe but as far as I could see it looked like a 4x4 track. It will be for sure possible particular when you walk. Hope it helps
Nice video. Interesting kit.
I love the Highlands but always sad at the lack of trees.
Nothing to do with you but I'm baffled by this modern trend of putting the word "wild" in front of something that people have been doing for centuries.
Thank you!
What's an empire biscuit?
That is basically a sweet biscuit with some jam in the middle and some icing on top. Pretty popular in Scotland, but not for breakfast 😂
I thought empire biscuits were world famous !!!
I love em !
So are Maultaschen 😂😂😂 I need to admit they are pretty good but I prefer them in the afternoon 😎
