My favourite thing about the weeping angels is how the only way to beat them is to outsmart them, as a lot of the times we see them beaten it's because they were tricked or trapped. Definitely one of the most unique creatures in the show, and the more we learn about them the scarier they get. I wonder if we can see a compilation of the many ways the doctor and their friends have beaten them? I remember during the siege of trenzalore episodes it's implied that the doctor used a mirror to trap a weeping angel by making it perceive itself?
I don't think that's how they work exactly. They aren't exactly stone. They seem to live in a different reality and turn into stone. I think there was an episode where a guy trapped one and chipped away at it. It didn't die.
@@quiteslayer4067 If you think about it further though, you really can't kill a stone. You can turn it into smaller bits of stone, maybe even quite a bit smaller, but that's not 'killing' it. The angels don't really seem to mind one way or the other and it's said to be their perfect evolutionary defense, so I doubt something as simple as pulverization would have any effect on them. 16:20 when you rewatch this episode after season 6, you truly get more of a sense of River doing whatever she can do to make sure her mom gets out alive so that she can be born 😅 And I don't think Alex knew about that aspect of the relationship yet.
I remember seeing something with Alex saying that she had the diary and it was full of Rivers memories that Alex thought were just character building but turned out were upcoming episodes. However even if she did know about all these aspects of the relationships it doesn’t make it any less amazing
Alex Kingston said she had been told by Moffat over a year prior what River's and Amy's relationship actually was -- it was Karen/Arthur/Matt who were kept in the dark until S-6, being genuinely surprised when reading "x" during the run-throughs. Alex kept the secret to herself for over a year with Moffat having told her it so as to inform how she approached certain scenes from an acting/delivery POV.

I know nothing about Doctor Who. I've never seen an episode. But I do know that the Weeping Angels are one of the most ingenious creations to ever be written. What great horror!
Suddenly realizing that the angels were terrified of what was about to happen ... in the sight of the Doctor and others, they literally could not make a move to save themselves. The fasted unseen things in the universe ... frozen as they are sucked through the rift. Never thought I'd ever feel sorry for the things ... and yet now I do. Damn good writing.
I really love the silence in doctor who. The thought of this race of aliens that are immediately forgotten the second they’re looked away from. Absolutely love those weird things
I think my favourite moment was when they were exploring the caves and the doctor asks why all the statues have one head when the aliens that lived there had two ... that moment of realisation that every single statue we had seen was a weeping angel ...
Okay, woah woah woah, wait wait wait wait wait. I just watched the episode where the Doctor meets the Devil - an ancient beast from before the beginning of the universe or after or during, doesn't matter - that's the quote. Defeated and imprisoned by an unknown force. And the Angels, nobody knows where they're from - but they're angels. No matter what statues they inhabit or become or whatever - they're always angels. Always angels. So, here's my standing theory: Whatever imprisoned the Devil either utilised, impacted, or became the Weeping Angels. The reason the angels turning to look at Amy is such a poorly received scene is because it goes against the logic of the angels, they don’t choose to be stone, its a biological fact, they would immediately stop being stone and know Amy is defense less.
