    10 years ago I would say that Kook's was an upgrade over SW, anymore I'm not so sure that is the case. The SW fit better, at least on the new 500. They also eliminate the thin 2 bolt flange.

    Interesting. You all tuned my 10 Speed back in August, I have the H pipe, TSP Headers, JLT intake and 170 degree thermostat and I made 455 whp and 420 wtq on 93. If I could hit 500 whp on the inferred E85 set up, it may be worth the trip back up to you all to have a full catback system installed and stop the hop as well with GT350 axles and some good Viking suspension before I go single turbo in the next 6 months.

    2022 Mustang MACH 1 with handling package
    Wisdom on going down in wheel and tire size to: Size: 275/40ZR19 Size: 255/40ZR19 ? Continental DWS06 tire?
    Also, I’ve seen where some people go with the same size, wheels, and tires, front and rear. What are the pluses and minuses of doing that?
    For street vs the massive Handling package: 305/30R19 315/30R20 (rear) CUP 2 tire. I’m thinking this larger size wheels and gummy tires will be throwing rocks all over my car. And also the CUP 2 tires would wear out super fast.
    I figure smaller wheel, larger sidewall equals less tram lining and obviously protection for the wheels suspension, the whole car. Also better fuel economy.
    For a car with this much horsepower and weight should I go to anything smaller than the 40 series that comes stock without the Handling package?
    Also, what do you know about wheels? What is a high-quality durable light wheel that I should buy for these smaller tires?
    Thank you.

    • @fordmaster50
      @fordmaster50 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Forget the smaller tire concept. I run 295/35/20 front & 305/35/20 rear on Michelin PS4s. I went through 4 sets of the sport cup 2 & xould not get 10k miles out of each. The ps4s last about 15k. If you go smaller & cheaper tires you will ruin the handling & the look. Nowadays a 19" rim is small & not as much tire selection in for that size rim.

      If you stick a blower on that car and it now makes 650hp, that same 15% power loss accounts for 97hp lost through the driveline... sound accurate to you ?
      All drivetrains have a certain amount of power loss depending on the layout.. mid-engine and rear-engined cars will have the least amount of power loss.

    • @NationalSpeedInc
      @NationalSpeedInc  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      We view drivetrain loss in terms of factory advertised brake horsepower (i.e., horsepower at the engine) subtracted from our baseline wheel horsepower as measured by our dyno. After our work is completed, we simply add this value back in to calculate the new brake horsepower. The reason we do it this way is that drivetrain loss does not increase as power increases. Numbers get pretty inflated when using a percentage correction method. We'd rather be on the conservative side.

    American racing is good but reality is you dont need to fork over 1300 to 2300 for good headers. 600-700 for some basic long tubes will do you and no aftermarket CAI is going to add any hp worth the $ vs just stock or a drop in filter. Plus, unless the air intake tube is more straight or curved less than 30°, your losing power the higher the angle of the curve of intake tube. Rip the useless rear seats out too, the rear seats are only 15-16 lbs total.. And stick with smaller, light wheels like 17x10 in back and 17x8.5 in frt or 18x8.5. A 36 lb wheel (sans tire) being replaced by a 25 lb wheel thats what, 11 lbs per wheel x4, so 44 lbs less rolling, so lets do the average math, each pound of rolling resistance is equal to dropping 4.38 lbs x 44. It has the effect of almost 193 lbs of curb weigh droppedt!!!. And if you got 20 lb wheels, closer to 280 lbs. Each 100 lbs lost is equivelent to 10-12 hp.. so theres an another 25 to 40 hp gained for taking equivelent effect of 350+lbs off it. Taller wheels are always heavier and that slows/ increases 0-60- and 1/4 times. Example: two cars, one with 17" wheels the other idenitical car with 20" wheels. Taller 20" takes more distance to complete one rotation, thus the car with 17"s does 0-60 4.5 sec, while same car swapped to the 20's does 0-60 in 5.7 to 5.8 sec.. Taller wheels lengthen stopping and hamper handling/cornering as well as decrease mpg's... You also dont want to go to wide, no more than 11 in rear and 9.5 front. Rolling aerodynamic resistance. Lastly, seal up the hood on the mustangs. They catch air like a tarp or sail and create lots of drag above 75mph and angle the front chin spoiler down. They are angled up 3°-4° from factory and create lots of life.

    This is so misleading... It's not a "GT350-besting" anything when comparing modified to stock... a FBO E85 gt350 can be 600HP so technically this doesn't "best" anything

    I know you have to promote the sponsors but the MGW wasn’t really necessary. As for the GT350 elitists, it wasn’t just the engine that made the difference. Lighter framing, hell lighter wheels. Simply engineered differently. For the regular mustang this is pretty solid.

    Just SC a PP2 gt and call it a day . Either that or just go straight to the top of the mustang foodchain and get a GT500 . This incremental chasing horsepower spending way too much money is easily avoided by just going straight to 750 + horsepower and never going to another tune shop again

      Car and driver set faster times with the Mach 1. Different day different driver, but after driving both unless you are a pro semi-pro driver your not going to see much difference.

      Boost both cars, see which lasts longer.
      Let’s be real, aside from FBO, it’s rare for folks to do a full n/a build with these S550’s. But in that aspect, an A10 2018+ with FBO will walk a FBO GT350 🤙🏽.

      Naturally, since this upgrade not even include a TC or a SC, most high-end sports cars would still outperform it, not just the Roadster. It would be quite easy to bump it up to levels that would shit all over the Roadster, though. There are plenty of 70s Mach-1s that can run the same times as the ones advertised on the Roadster, while working perfectly fine as a daily and not running out of juice after 20-40 quarter mile runs.

    You've either got a happy dyno or an absolute factory freak because every mach 1 I've seen dyno has been between 408-422whp depending on if it's a 21 or 22+model that is slightly detuned. Never seen one rated at 480 or 470 hp either year pull 440whp from the factory.
