Hey one question here, do they already support Bluetooth as well? Overall great guide, but I'm a little surprised that you didn't cover adding system art. I personally find that having an icon for each emulated system really adds to the visual appeal of muOS, and makes it a little bit faster and easier to navigate the systems menu.
Glad that this OS is here, I love my Miyoo mini plus and a huge part of that is Onion. This seems to really be the closest option we have to onion and it even does some things better! Here's hoping for an easy netplay option someday
RG28xx literally got here in the mail today and Russ had this video up almost as if to tell me that this was a better choice than the stock firmware, haha
The 35XX SP is my favorite and most used emulation handheld of the year. I actually really enjoy trying out all of the different operating systems and I had yet to try MuOS. I have to say, after 12 hours on and off, I am disappointed. I tried 6 different SD cards all new, all brand name 128GB x2 64GB x2and 256x2, tried all with fat32 and exfat. I can get most of the games to play although many of them don't work with the controls and config options are very limited. I also have been unable to get the images to show despite going thru the exact steps that you outlined in the video. I usually have no problem configuring various operating systems and devices, it is intriguing. I am starting to think maybe I got a dud. I'll take a break and come back and mess around with it this weekend. Good stuff.
EDIT: Ross seems to be fond of working directly with the SD2 card, but as many porters working on portmaster ports know: SCP/SFTP is invaluable. Just connect to wifi, activate them, and just push anything you want to the device directly. No cursing that you have just clipped your nails. If you like ArkOS for its ability to quickly save state, shutdown and power on and immediatelly back into your RA game with quick resume, youll going to be blown away by muOS. I also love the quick, mostly text focused menu (using VBgo theme), because, after a while, I stopped caring about box art and just spend my time playing games on a tram, bus, metro, waiting at the doctors or whatever. 5 mins is good enough for a quick game with muOS.
A config change to consider, at least for some systems: Scaling. Under the scaling menu, you can turn bilinear on or off. Off makes everything sharp, but it will look janky if the scaling is fractional -- like GBA, which is between a 2x and 3x scale so some pixel rows and columns will be 2 pixels wide/high and others will be 3. Turning bilinear on makes it fuzzy and smooth like many emulators on computers do by default, but you might not like it do blurry. You could turn on integer scaling, which will force GBA to a perfect 2x scale that doesn't fill the screen. **OR** you could look under video filters. Select the "Normal 2x" filter and enable bilinear. This does a perfect 2x integer scale in the filter, and then does a fuzzy scale from that up to fit the screen -- in my opinion the best option by far. Coincidentally, it also appears to be what the "Game Rooms" emulator on the Anbernic stock OS does. You can also mess with other filters and check out the shaders menu under Quick Settings to get scanlines, simulated composite/RF artifacts, warped picture with curved edges like on a CRT, etc. You can also get a similar effect using no filter, bilinear scale, and then a sharpen shader. Remember, a native system-sized frame comes out of the Retroarch core, then the optional video filter uses CPU power to modify and resize it, then Retroarch scales it to the size to be displayed on the screen again using CPU power, and finally one or more optional shaders use GPU power to apply whatever effects. Since your scaling and filter/shader config is probably specific to each system you emulate, you should save those changes as an override file. In quick settings, manage overrides, and save it as a core, folder or game override file, depending whether you want it to apply to games in that folder, any game run using that core, or just that one game. Also, Syncthing sounds interesting. I have an SP and am somewhat considering getting a 40XXV. My first inclination was to put the OS and any sort of configs I want to be console-specific on TF1, and then move TF2 between the two like I would with a game cartridge or floppy, but now I have a couple options.

Glad that this OS is here, I love my Miyoo mini plus and a huge part of that is Onion. This seems to really be the closest option we have to onion and it even does some things better!
Here's hoping for an easy netplay option someday
Thank you so much for details!
Thanks so much, this is exactly what I needed.
RG28xx literally got here in the mail today and Russ had this video up almost as if to tell me that this was a better choice than the stock firmware, haha
For the RG28XX i MinUI is also pretty nice. If you don't plan on using Portmaster i'd say that is the better option.
@@Seltendenker I actually am using Portmaster. It's an awesome way to have UFO 50 in my pocket!

No shift, that came up and cracked me up
Great video me as a beginner ,when mine comes in I know how to set this up great! (New to the hobby)
I JUST installed this last night! I should have waited a few hours 😂
Yo dude love your videos😊😊
Great guide. Thanks for posting it.
Good stuff.
Bios files tip for anyone watching they are located on the SD card the unit was shipped with. Hey also thanks for the videos love the channel.
The Goat thankyou so much Sir!
Even though I already installed Banana on my RG40XXV I'm happy this video finally dropped 😂!
Banana kind of broke the pokemon and zelda theme i was using on the sp :(
Love how much they work on the OS, super smooth.
Thanks for the video.
I love MuOS, but I have an RG40XX-H and I was waiting for the compatible version.
Can't wait for my RG40XXV to arrive in the mail!
Top notch. Thank you sir!
