BUDGET RAT TRUCK BUILD - Making new floor pans (Part 7)

  • Time to make new floor pans and drive shaft tunnel! I build a frame for the floor and a new tunnel. Then make templates for the new floor pans before cutting them to shape and bead rolling to add stiffness. Finally I install the new floor pans and plug weld them in place. We also look at the overall cost of this budget build so far!

    I love the way you couldn't be arsed for holes here and rust there because they are just adding character and giving it houding, but then you cringe when your beading goois a lefty. Your inner struggle is real man. There's a war going on 😜🤘

    Nice work. The thin strip plywood is a great idea. I do this for all my flat pieces. A little trick is use hot glue to glue the pieces together. They wont move like screws do sometimes. Keep up they great builds and videos

    Duff, another great video ! For a motor for your bead roller grab a windscreen wiper motor off that Ford truck you harvested your bedsides from and use it with a 12 volt battery ! It works or youo can use a 1/2" drill to do it as well !

    You need to put 6 extended handles on the outside- like a pirate wheel, and that will make it easier to control, because it harder for you to turn it from the inside of your bead wheel- now that's what I see, now that's a comment- that's all- GOOD JOB ON THAT FLOOR 👍👍👍👍

I believe that your steel prices may be less expensive than mine here in the states presently. Cost of a Big Mac in the U.S. is currently $4 x 268 = $1072 interesting comparison. That tiny bite looks great! I’m watching every bite of that elephant. Lol!
    Question: How hard is it to get a rat rod titled and licensed for the road over there?
    I don’t even know how hard it is here. Lol! I do remember a guy making a hotrod model “T” with a Chevy V8 on a homemade chassis, and they wouldn’t title it because back in the day, they used the engine number as the vin on model “T”s. The engine was a Chevy. Don’t know what he finally did.
    A big Texas thank you for your videos!

    • @ratrodsafrica
      @ratrodsafrica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gotta keep gnawing on them elephants!😂 Licencing built up vehicles legally is a very difficult thing here! But we improvise in other ways... one method is to buy a donor truck with legal title and licence, then build your rod with that. Vin is the chassis number, so no issue to swop the engine. And It IS Africa... third world... things are a little different here..can'tt say too much in public space...😅
