- I sort out the radiator and start up the engine again to check for leaks. Then the Budget Rat Truck rolls out of the shop under its own power for the first time since the build was started! We even go for a short first test drive. Very short...

Back from the dead.==RESURRECTION! Good name I think. From the guy in Oregon USA
Thanks guy in Oregon!😅
She looks great Diff. 👍
You said she so ugly that she’s beautiful, so Fugly it is. lol
I like Fugly! Will add it to the list of contenders, thanks
Solder would be the best option
I like your repair!
Looks GREAT! Being in the US, I watch this in the mirror, so it looks right to me.
Haha! Thats funny man!😂
Thorough repair!..We have some similiar stuff called J.B.Weld. I've never had much luck with it, but many people swear by it for metal repair. I used in on a hole in a transmission coolant line, and it blew it right off after several hours of running. Hope yours holds!
Me too! Will keep an eye on it😅
She looks like a sweet ride Div, I love it
Thanks brother!
Love this truck another nice ratrod .
Thank you!
I love your videos!! Never miss them! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! spell out your name on a wall and keep it there so we all know how to spell it! 😊
Thinking of a name for the truck… just ain’t got it yet🤔
Thanks Mario. My name is spelled Div. Or even Diff if you want, because thats how you say it😅
Congratulations my friend! As far as the color you'll have to make that call my friend, but I'm sure I'll like it.
Div, I Just wanted to say, A day without your show is a day lacking Wisdom ,Wit, Humor and honest conversation This is what the world needs more of Brother. mike
Thanks Mike! Appreciate your kind words
Congratulations Diff on a job well done!! She looks FANTASTIC!! 👏👏👏👏👏
Not quite finished yet, but thank you Jiminy!
i patched a radiator like that and it lasted years ,, i like this little truck , cant wait to take a ride ,
Thanks. Soon as the weather clears we ride!
Your truck is a diamond in the rough. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Matthew!
Congratulations, it's already working and it's been very good, I took a good look at this truck and I think you could call it Mickey.
Thanks! I'll add the name to the list!
I like how you show what regular guys' shops are like. Not everything goes smoothly, and slick. Dead battery, low tire. Reminds me of my shop. Very real and fun to be a part of your adventures. I just acquired a 1957 Ford station wagon that has a future of becoming my first rat rod at the tender age of 72, me, not the station wagon. Old people rule. 😊
Yeah man, OG's rule! And we don't have time for fakery. Enjoy that build and remember, growing old is inevitable, BUT growing up is optional! 😄
it already has a name... buttercup! great build series. thank you!
Glad you like it! Not sure if Buttercup still suits it...😂
Hi Div, I look every morning for your vids. Love your work! Here is some name ideas - "Chevroniss On" , "Russ T. Hardbody", "Bowtie Hardbody" . Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the cool name suggestions! Will add them to the list. I try to post vids every Wednesday and Sunday😅
That talking frog under your hat got me every time. Man, you do some very nice work. I really like this truck. Except for the noise! 😊. I’d name it Buzz.
OF COURSE we want to come on the ride. Well I do anyway. 👻
The noise irritates me too! Muffler for sure! See you on the ride
Great to see it finally running Diff.
I think that he should be called Frankentruck.
Thanks brother. Still need to go for a proper drive. Soon! Someone else also suggested Frankentruck!
Hey Diff, great to see the old Chevy running. Maybe " Bride of Frankenstein"!?:) About this time last year I took my 64 F100 for it's first drive in over 30 years. Of course I didn't have a windshield either. Only here it was about 30 degrees Fahrenheit. I guess that's about "0" C by you . Only getting colder here. Thanks for the update!
John! You are frigging crazy man! I would die!😅 Thanks for the suggestion!
Super final job, amazing truck.
Thanks! Still a few things to do. And the first real test drive!
On the ground and loud and proud. Well done my brother will done 👍.and l am pretty sure you have stayed in the budget.l love it when a person well build it rather than buy it and, put it together keep up the good work. 👍 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you! Yes, I will be doing a build cost video one of these days.
Glad to see that you fixed the rad! Epoxy is the budget build mechanic’s friend!!!😉😁
Yes, so I'm finding out!😅 The magical potion...😂
½
The glass turned out awesome just like the rest of the Truck, all because of you! How about calling it a Chebby Truck!
Thanks brother! Clever name, will add to the list
Good location would be on the lower hood close to firewall. Place 51 on each side of truck.
Wow an Afrikaner building rat rods. Awesome
Who would have thought! 😂
Can't wait for the first run in "Rusty."
Fitting name! Cant wait myself!
You could name it, the Recipe. It has a pinch of this, a bit of that, a Nissan base, a Chevy crust, and a Ford center, and four mixing bowl center caps spinning round and round to mix all the ingredients together. It might not fit everyone's cup of tea, but you built it from scratch, it's homemade, and you built it to suit your own taste. I love it Dif, great job sir!
Thank you! We dont care about everyone's cup of tea, do we? 😅
Trifle? Potjie? Div you need to get a young appie so the art does not die.
@@justincase8532 the youngsters of today are generally not interested...
That's Cool!
I would love to be along for a ride. Wish I could afford a ticket and I would be there. You do great work my friend.
You did a great job. It looks great to me. You really do great work. I’ll be watching.
Thanks Lewis, appreciate!
Great looking truck Div, a credit to your artistry.
Thanks! 👍
Excellent result. We call it jb weld.same thing. Works great
I call shotgun!!!!!!😂
Man that thing looks good outside. I’m happy to things are working out for you.
Better go get that safety glass. 😂
I knew the liquid weld stuff would work. My Grandfather used JB Weld in a 10”x1/4” crack in the block of his straight six engine. Held for years.
👍🏻👍🏻!!!!
Wow, unbelievable about that crack! I have newfound confidence😅 Thanks, will keep a virtual shotgun spot for you!!
Bars Radiator repair. It used to be in a can about the size of a spice can. There was also stuff that you could buy at the drug store. It was called water glass. It also worked and fixed radiator leaks.
Really glad I discovered your channel. Love your creativity, resourcefulness and your being relatable to common folks building their dreams. A refreshing departure from the check writing crowd. Thanks, Chris
Welcome to my shop Chris! Yes, we all live in the real world man!
That truck is absolutely beautiful !!!
Thank you Tim! Just need to enhance that patina still. Watch this space😅
Excited for this one Boet!!!! Lets go!!!
It's running good looks good outside.
Thanks Henry! Was great for me to see it from a distance for the first time!
@@ratrodsafrica You're welcome 😉
I CALL SHOTGUN!!!!! now that's a rat rod African style ,good for you . Cheers PS I really enjoy the comment section and your comments also its gives more context to the project
That seat is a bit full, but we will squeeze you in!😂 I feel it's just common decency to answer guys who take the trouble to comment😉
Jis awesome! It looks amazing! Well done! See you soon soon!
Dankie Sharn!
very cool truck ! im from the USA glad i found your site , will be waiting for your next video
Thanks brother! Welcome to my shop in the forest!
Great looking truck, well done. I would name her ' thrifty'
Thank you Richard! Now for that first test drive!
I love the way the truck turned out . Tetanus shot would be a cool name for it. My only input would be that new battery looks way out of place .. maybe a cool cover over it to blend it in .. but great job .
I hear you about that battery! Irritates me every time I look at the truck. Good observation my man!
Looks and sounds awesome outside
Thanks. Great to finally stand back!
Love the sound of the exhaust ❤
I’m with you, Div. I don’t like that stop the leak in a bottle stuff. It ends up in everything in the cooling system. I never thought of trying your idea! Next rad leak! Watching these out of order. I am still new to the channel, but enjoying your content!
Thanks man. Welcome to my shop
Well done, I love it. What's next, I hope we see continued content and this one looks almost done...!?
Thanks Rich. Still gotta do a few things. And we need to take it for a decent drive! Got quite a few options lined up, might ask you guys to vote...
Congratulations 🎉 on successful first drive.
Thanks! Now for some glass and a proper drive!
Looking Lekka Div. Loving how it turns over straight away, exhaust is sflightly noisey but that's on the list to fix.
As for a name Bitsa Rat, as it bits of this and bits of that
Jeez, the sound of that 4 banger is strange in my ears! Maybe a muffler will ease the pain a little😅 I'm used to straight 6, V6, V8. The name is a great suggestion. Will add it to the list to ponder...
4 banger kinda yelps like a small dog where a 6 cylinder, v6, v8 growls like a junkyard dog
@@dragontattooee exactly! 😅
How about naming her "lil bit" alittle of this a little of that. Tons of ingenuity and a boatload of love for the project and quality
Congratulations Diff she's a runner ! Now take the loud out of the exhaust and insert some tone and it'll be perfect.
Thanks. That's the plan!
👍👌👏 Great fix, maaaan. I don't think that the muffler doesn't muffle enough. For a 4banger the car sounds good and not too loud.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
I love your work and your ideas. I'm just an RC model builder, but I put the same love and effort into my models as you do. I'm also very connected to the rat rod scene and live it out in model building, unfortunately, but not in real life Size also in real rat rods because I don't have the money and the space. In addition, the Tüv wouldn't play along here anyway. I love the rat rod theme because everyone is welcome here and it's not about how much money you have but wivil creativity .Furthermore, it is also sustainable from various cars and share something new to build.
I wish you always a good success and good people in your life. Greetings Michael from Germany
Thanks Michael! As long as you build stuff, the size doesnt really matter. It's about creativity!
Div I'm going to S.A.soon in May month ,I'm an expat working in Kenya , checking you out on you tube , Ill try to find you and visit you as my hometown is Stillbay , groete uit Kenia ,Gert .
once i fixed an aluminum cored radiator by cutting out about one inch (25 mm) of reed , flaring each end open slightly , cleaning inside (briefly) w/muriatic acid , rinsed and dried completely , injected a liquid epoxy , then folded/crimped each end w/needle nose pliers . local radiator shop had told me they couldn't repair aluminum , but this worked . btw , knew a guy w/a sedan delivery with nearly the same grille as your truck . he bought a second bottom grille bar , flipped it and fastened to already existing bottom bar . made a nice completion of the grille . i seem to remember that he even welded a flat piece of steel , at an angle , to the added bar , for a chin spoiler . painted it all w/black crinkle paint , looked good on his orange car .
Same here, local radiator shop also told me they couldn't repair! Nice idea with the grille bar. only the problem here is that they very hard to find!
Such a sweet rig
Thank you Ratty!😅
In New Zealand we can buy a product called one shot which is a powder like brass fillings and it works every time and stays circulating in the system and if you get another little hole BAM it stops that leak to - this product is amazing
Diff…What a ripper! Nice ride brother and keep it up! Love your style!
Thanks Brad!
Great engine sound
Mr Patch could be a name, or Half or Cross Breed! LOT ( Little of this, Little of that) or Rusty Mix Or (Captain Patina) or RustiCan or Rustzzle(rusty puzzle) Twisted Steel or Sir Rust or Bobbie Brown!! Those are few off the top of my head!!!! Enjoyed the video, truck looked awesome in the outside light!!!
Wow, so many suggestions! You have a knack for this kind of thing! I now need to go and chew on all your great suggestions😅
Hey Div ma man!!....the rat truck is looking so good my bro, it's been a pleasure and a highlight following this build so far, and that exhaust has some real bark and snap to it!....very nice 😁
Cheers brother Div!! 🍻 🚬🇦🇺
Thanks brother Stevo! Glad you been enjoying so far. Remember to come with for the real test drive! I'll keep a seat for you😅
@@ratrodsafrica Absolutely Div, you've out done yourself my friend, it's a true one of a kind war horse! And a real head turner for sure 👌🏼
Mate I may just take you up on the offer of a test drive one day 😁 it would look even better in person I imagine.
You've got my vote Div!
Cheers buddy! 🍻🇦🇺
@@stevo.jurisic1980 you welcome anytime! Until then, you can come with on a virtual test drive😅 Soon, soon!
really cool shop, and truck Duff. I have had pretty good luck with the epoxy repair stuff.
Thanks Glen! There's some hope for my fix then!😅
That truck really took shape. I love it!
Thanks Rick!
It sounds great 👍
That's awesome brother !!!! Sounds like a mad bumble bee in a steel drum lol !!!!!!! But it's awesome !!!! The stance of the truck is awesome as well !! Great beginning to many journeys ahead !!!! Hope yall have a lekka day as well brother !!!!
Ha,ha, thats actually a very good description! I'm used to straight 6 and V8, so the sound of that little 4 banger is strange in my ears...😅
@@ratrodsafrica lol !!!! Thanks for finding it humorous lol !!! That's what I tell the youngsters here when their car makes alot of noise but not really impressing lol !!! That little Nissan 4 banger sounds great !!! I had a 1993 Nissan hard body !!! Had over 500,000 miles on it !!! Pray yall have a lekka day brother
Love the way this one is coming out Diff. Great job
Thanks Rich guy!😅
I have ben using black pepper for over 40 years it work grate
I learned to drive on Grandpa's 3 window '53 Chevy; it is WILD (to me) seeing the steering on the opposite side! Excellent job man.
Thanks!
I love your resourcefulness and fearlessness to think up and try things. Much respect brother!
Thanks bro, appreciate that!
Hi Diff. When your radiator first pissed like that my immediate thought was “Vasvat”
( Or in other words steel epoxy)
Glad it worked out:-)
Hey, that Vasvat stuff is good. Fixed the casting of my water pump at the dam with it. Years ago, and still holding!
Div
Great job mate.
The bars leak works well so if you do need it at some stage don't be to afraid to use it.
Been using that in Aus for years.
Can't call it he Chatsun nor Chord LOL
Maybe a Nisalet pronounce (Nis-o-lay)
Thanks mate!
Pretty cool sound good too 👍
Looks great outside can't wait to see it on the road brother keep up the great work 👍😎🤪
Thanks 👍
Looking forward to the drive Boet
Me too! Soon as the weather clears up!
It's great to see it like this. Progress at the start was maddeningly slow. Watching you lift the body off the chassis and put it back on over and over. I couldn't wait to see it together.
Thanks! Its only in those fake and flash shows where stuff happens in a flash! In the real world, with just one guy, its a different story...😅
I love the exhaust note! It sounds perfect. Will you be allowed to leave it that way?
@@sgt_mark check out the next video to hear the final sound
Glad to see the patch work. Looks great. Thumbs up buddy
Thanks Steven!
Thanks diff entertaining as always.
P.s pepper is a great cooling system hole plugger
Spice it up a little!😂
How about “ Horse with no name “
Good song with that title! At this point, the most fitting name😅
Brush Popper , sounds good !
Hey Duff I have really enjoyed watching u build this truck I'm from here n Arkansas in the states at 1st wasn't sure how I would like when it was done but my guy u did a sure good 👍🤟 job
Hey thanks Eddie! Greetings to Arkansas
Good brakes !
Very nice truck. Great idea on the rims
Thank you!
Man you did an outstanding job on that pickup I come in on your start for this bill watching your videos on here then I went back and watched some of your other videos of builds you do really awesome work keep it up and by the way a good name for that truck would be Scrappy because of all the scrap parts from different Vehicles you used on it
Thanks Don! Scrappy will certainly fit😅
It came to me in my sleep, " The Boet Mobile ". It has a nice note, it would be good to hear what it sounds like going through the gears.
😂😂😂Thanks man. Hopefully we can get it through all the gears soon!
Great video Duff! Truck sounds good. Can't wait to see you go for a drive
Thanks! We will drive soon!!!
The only thing I might add is I have done this repair many times over the years but what I found was to tie some fine stainless or copper wire around tube either side of hole before applying metal epoxy and had extremely good success
Good idea!
Nice job cool looking truck good luck on a road drive I’m sure it will be ok keep on
Thanks 👍 First drive as soon as the weather clears up!
Your little truck looks good, and I like the exhaust sound. Let's go for a ride.
Thanks Randall. Ride coming up soon!
Hello Div, great to see the Bush-Master running and driving. Nice job, looking forward to your next program. Be good and take care. 👍👍👍
The Bush-Master! Ha,ha! Thanks boet
Man that looks great outside, a little stretch of the legs is a good thing, nice fix on the rad, I hope it holds up for a long time
Thanks! Yes, was great for me to see the old rust bucket from a distance for the first time!
The tow truck is awesome
Thanks!
Looks great outside. Well done!
Thanks!
Truck turned out awesome! I never thought when you started with just the cab and front fenders that it would ever turn out this cool! 👍
Thanks!
Hi Borg Warner The radiator will last for ever good bush job truck looks good
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦
Hello there!😄
Looking great moving under its own power, Diff. Nice accomplishment.
Thanks brother! Now for the first drive!
I admire your commitment to "frugality". lol I just had to weld a fender back together on my wife's truck after she wrecked it because I couldn't spend the money. (I actually just made a video about it.)
You've actually knocked this out really fast. I've been working on the same car for 7 years and it's still in pieces.
Yes, the mission is to build something cool for as little money as possible
greetings for California…nice Rat ride!
Howzit Jeffrey from Cali! Thanks bro.
I repaired a leak in my radiator from my old postal jeep with JB Weld and it’s been holding ever since. It’s strange to think that I think like you. Nice job on the truck.
There's hope for my fix then! Thanks brother
