- I sort out the radiator and start up the engine again to check for leaks. Then the Budget Rat Truck rolls out of the shop under its own power for the first time since the build was started! We even go for a short first test drive. Very short...

I like how you show what regular guys' shops are like. Not everything goes smoothly, and slick. Dead battery, low tire. Reminds me of my shop. Very real and fun to be a part of your adventures. I just acquired a 1957 Ford station wagon that has a future of becoming my first rat rod at the tender age of 72, me, not the station wagon. Old people rule. 😊
Yeah man, OG's rule! And we don't have time for fakery. Enjoy that build and remember, growing old is inevitable, BUT growing up is optional! 😄
Div, I Just wanted to say, A day without your show is a day lacking Wisdom ,Wit, Humor and honest conversation This is what the world needs more of Brother. mike
Thanks Mike! Appreciate your kind words
She looks great Diff. 👍
You said she so ugly that she’s beautiful, so Fugly it is. lol
I like Fugly! Will add it to the list of contenders, thanks
it already has a name... buttercup! great build series. thank you!
Glad you like it! Not sure if Buttercup still suits it...😂
Solder would be the best option
Back from the dead.==RESURRECTION! Good name I think. From the guy in Oregon USA
Thanks guy in Oregon!😅
The glass turned out awesome just like the rest of the Truck, all because of you! How about calling it a Chebby Truck!
Thanks brother! Clever name, will add to the list
I CALL SHOTGUN!!!!! now that's a rat rod African style ,good for you . Cheers PS I really enjoy the comment section and your comments also its gives more context to the project
That seat is a bit full, but we will squeeze you in!😂 I feel it's just common decency to answer guys who take the trouble to comment😉
Call it the wizard!
That truck is absolutely beautiful !!!
Thank you Tim! Just need to enhance that patina still. Watch this space😅
Great looking truck Div, a credit to your artistry.
Thanks! 👍
Wow an Afrikaner building rat rods. Awesome
Who would have thought! 😂
Great to see it finally running Diff.
I think that he should be called Frankentruck.
Thanks brother. Still need to go for a proper drive. Soon! Someone else also suggested Frankentruck!
She looks like a sweet ride Div, I love it
Thanks brother!
Love the sound of the exhaust ❤
Can't wait for the first run in "Rusty."
Fitting name! Cant wait myself!
How about naming her "lil bit" alittle of this a little of that. Tons of ingenuity and a boatload of love for the project and quality
*Rad Chad enters the room*
🤣
Looks GREAT! Being in the US, I watch this in the mirror, so it looks right to me.
Haha! Thats funny man!😂
I like your repair!
OTIS should be the name
"Oh this will work"
Bars Radiator repair. It used to be in a can about the size of a spice can. There was also stuff that you could buy at the drug store. It was called water glass. It also worked and fixed radiator leaks.
Sounds like a pissed off bumblebee 😊
Haha, yes that little 4 banger makes strange noises!😂
Jis awesome! It looks amazing! Well done! See you soon soon!
Dankie Sharn!
Lol anybody else hear the Ghost in the machine? “ yesss sirrr”
Jip, he's there!😂
You Could call her the Dynafour instead of Dynasour because it's Old and Powered by a Four... Ha ha!. I Love it
Clever name!
Australian Rat would be a perfect name
Diff does it right because he does it more than twice
Haha, he's pretty good at doing things twice. Like the twice water leak fix!😅
Love this truck another nice ratrod .
Thank you!
Hello from Canada 🇨🇦
Hello there!😄
Great engine sound
i patched a radiator like that and it lasted years ,, i like this little truck , cant wait to take a ride ,
Thanks. Soon as the weather clears we ride!
Your truck is a diamond in the rough. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Matthew!
The tow truck is awesome
Thanks!
Brush Popper , sounds good !
I would love to be along for a ride. Wish I could afford a ticket and I would be there. You do great work my friend.
Looks and sounds awesome outside
Thanks. Great to finally stand back!
Thorough repair!..We have some similiar stuff called J.B.Weld. I've never had much luck with it, but many people swear by it for metal repair. I used in on a hole in a transmission coolant line, and it blew it right off after several hours of running. Hope yours holds!
Me too! Will keep an eye on it😅
Duf, better keep Christine in the garage don’t want her to get rusty 😉 👍🏴
Haha!
Congratulations my friend! As far as the color you'll have to make that call my friend, but I'm sure I'll like it.
Way to go Duff
Thanks brother!
Looks great outside can't wait to see it on the road brother keep up the great work 👍😎🤪
Thanks man👍
Looking forward to the drive Boet
Me too! Soon as the weather clears up!
It's running good looks good outside.
Thanks Henry! Was great for me to see it from a distance for the first time!
@@ratrodsafrica You're welcome 😉
Congratulations 🎉 on successful first drive.
Thanks! Now for some glass and a proper drive!
Congratulations, it's already working and it's been very good, I took a good look at this truck and I think you could call it Mickey.
Thanks! I'll add the name to the list!
Hi Borg Warner The radiator will last for ever good bush job truck looks good
Super final job, amazing truck.
Thanks! Still a few things to do. And the first real test drive!
It sounds great 👍
That's Cool!
greetings for California…nice Rat ride!
Howzit Jeffrey from Cali! Thanks bro.
Great looking truck, well done. I would name her ' thrifty'
Thank you Richard! Now for that first test drive!
Coolant = the forbidden cordial
Good brakes !
👍👌👏 Great fix, maaaan. I don't think that the muffler doesn't muffle enough. For a 4banger the car sounds good and not too loud.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
very cool truck ! im from the USA glad i found your site , will be waiting for your next video
Thanks brother! Welcome to my shop in the forest!
Pretty cool sound good too 👍
Very nice truck. Great idea on the rims
Thank you!
I think MR. B.would be a cool name. Cause it sounds like a Bee to me
Does sound like a pissed off bee😂 Gonna fit a muffler to see how it sounds then
That talking frog under your hat got me every time. Man, you do some very nice work. I really like this truck. Except for the noise! 😊. I’d name it Buzz.
OF COURSE we want to come on the ride. Well I do anyway. 👻
The noise irritates me too! Muffler for sure! See you on the ride
Excellent result. We call it jb weld.same thing. Works great
Duff….make sure you never leave any anti-freeze laying around to where a dog or cat can drink it as it will kill them grave yard dead…they like it because it is sweet. We lost a cat because of my negligence several years ago.
Jeez, lucky I only swallowed a drop! Noted!
One of my distant relatives (years ago) committed suicide by drinking antifreeze.
By all accounts its not a 'good way' to top yourself.
@@phillipembury2271 Jeez!!!!
R.I.P
@@ratrodsafrica Whatever you do don't use leakstop metal flake it clogged my thermostat and everything else, and made a mess of everything including clumpy coolant... I ended up JB Welding it an epoxy as well...any all it the Rad-illac lol
Such a sweet rig
Thank you Ratty!😅
In New Zealand we can buy a product called one shot which is a powder like brass fillings and it works every time and stays circulating in the system and if you get another little hole BAM it stops that leak to - this product is amazing
Your little truck looks good, and I like the exhaust sound. Let's go for a ride.
Thanks Randall. Ride coming up soon!
I'd name her SOUPPY. For them there baby moons you made and that she's mixed up , LIKE SOUP ! 👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. WE THINK YOU DID A JAM UP JOB ON HER
Haha! That's certainly an out of the main stream name suggestion. Thanks, will add it to the list to ponder.
Very Divverant
😂 Classic!
@@ratrodsafrica you sell shirts
@@lencsalovszki9194 look in the description of the video, that's currently all that's available
African queen or Zulu mama are the names!!
😄Thanks, will add them to the list!
I call shotgun!!!!!!😂
Man that thing looks good outside. I’m happy to things are working out for you.
Better go get that safety glass. 😂
I knew the liquid weld stuff would work. My Grandfather used JB Weld in a 10”x1/4” crack in the block of his straight six engine. Held for years.
👍🏻👍🏻!!!!
Wow, unbelievable about that crack! I have newfound confidence😅 Thanks, will keep a virtual shotgun spot for you!!
I love your videos!! Never miss them! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! spell out your name on a wall and keep it there so we all know how to spell it! 😊
Thinking of a name for the truck… just ain’t got it yet🤔
Thanks Mario. My name is spelled Div. Or even Diff if you want, because thats how you say it😅
Sounds awesome to me!
Got to be “beetle eyes” especially when you lift up the hoods looks like a beetle opening up their shell to fly off. Definitely made right decision on the front grill.
Definitely not the typical V8 sound, but I'm its growing on me!😅
Hi Div, I look every morning for your vids. Love your work! Here is some name ideas - "Chevroniss On" , "Russ T. Hardbody", "Bowtie Hardbody" . Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the cool name suggestions! Will add them to the list. I try to post vids every Wednesday and Sunday😅
That's awesome brother !!!! Sounds like a mad bumble bee in a steel drum lol !!!!!!! But it's awesome !!!! The stance of the truck is awesome as well !! Great beginning to many journeys ahead !!!! Hope yall have a lekka day as well brother !!!!
Ha,ha, thats actually a very good description! I'm used to straight 6 and V8, so the sound of that little 4 banger is strange in my ears...😅
@@ratrodsafrica lol !!!! Thanks for finding it humorous lol !!! That's what I tell the youngsters here when their car makes alot of noise but not really impressing lol !!! That little Nissan 4 banger sounds great !!! I had a 1993 Nissan hard body !!! Had over 500,000 miles on it !!! Pray yall have a lekka day brother
Here in America, we have a disparaging phrase that is used when describing someone's ignorance - "He don't know from Ducomb Snot." Maybe consider naming her "Ducomb Snot"
I name it the old Bucket of bolts !!!
Could work! Thanks, I'll add it to the list
Glad to see that you fixed the rad! Epoxy is the budget build mechanic’s friend!!!😉😁
Yes, so I'm finding out!😅 The magical potion...😂
½
i like that truck
Thank you Joe!
RatGet truck!
It came to me in my sleep, " The Boet Mobile ". It has a nice note, it would be good to hear what it sounds like going through the gears.
😂😂😂Thanks man. Hopefully we can get it through all the gears soon!
Love the truck brother
Thanks boet!
once i fixed an aluminum cored radiator by cutting out about one inch (25 mm) of reed , flaring each end open slightly , cleaning inside (briefly) w/muriatic acid , rinsed and dried completely , injected a liquid epoxy , then folded/crimped each end w/needle nose pliers . local radiator shop had told me they couldn't repair aluminum , but this worked . btw , knew a guy w/a sedan delivery with nearly the same grille as your truck . he bought a second bottom grille bar , flipped it and fastened to already existing bottom bar . made a nice completion of the grille . i seem to remember that he even welded a flat piece of steel , at an angle , to the added bar , for a chin spoiler . painted it all w/black crinkle paint , looked good on his orange car .
Same here, local radiator shop also told me they couldn't repair! Nice idea with the grille bar. only the problem here is that they very hard to find!
Great job, like it.
Thank you
Of noem hom the rusty beast
Kan ok werk!
I have ben using black pepper for over 40 years it work grate
You did a great job. It looks great to me. You really do great work. I’ll be watching.
Thanks Lewis, appreciate!
Yes, I did know antifreeze has a sweet taste
I learned to drive on Grandpa's 3 window '53 Chevy; it is WILD (to me) seeing the steering on the opposite side! Excellent job man.
Thanks!
Hi Duff
Name it FRANKENTRUCK or “FRANKIE”
for short version
You created it in your LAB and Brought it
To life.
😂 That could work! Thanks for the suggestion.
Awesome
Thank you Bo!
I love the way the truck turned out . Tetanus shot would be a cool name for it. My only input would be that new battery looks way out of place .. maybe a cool cover over it to blend it in .. but great job .
I hear you about that battery! Irritates me every time I look at the truck. Good observation my man!
On the ground and loud and proud. Well done my brother will done 👍.and l am pretty sure you have stayed in the budget.l love it when a person well build it rather than buy it and, put it together keep up the good work. 👍 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thank you! Yes, I will be doing a build cost video one of these days.
Good location would be on the lower hood close to firewall. Place 51 on each side of truck.
Lets go for a ride
Soon, soon! Watch this space...😅
Sr Duff. 😃😃
Call it Grunt.
I'm sure you will understand when I say that repair is 'Tiffie' approved. I recently found your channel, excellent work and interesting projects. Baie Lekker.
Haha, ja korporaal! Welcome to my shop boet!
@@ratrodsafrica Many thanks, you are an inspiration.
Well done, I love it. What's next, I hope we see continued content and this one looks almost done...!?
Thanks Rich. Still gotta do a few things. And we need to take it for a decent drive! Got quite a few options lined up, might ask you guys to vote...
really cool shop, and truck Duff. I have had pretty good luck with the epoxy repair stuff.
Thanks Glen! There's some hope for my fix then!😅
Hi Duff Don here from the states good job on the old chevy looking to see more Thanks
Howzit Don from the States! Thanks brother
Black pepper was an old trick in the states. Black pepper expands when it is in hot water. I remember Barra radiator leak
Spice it up a little!😅
