I have a friend who lives in this exact neighborhood, and while it is somewhat far from the beach (15-20 minute drive to the closest beach), it is a beautiful neighborhood with beautiful views. It’s not too far from the city but its location gives you a remote/wilderness feel that is impossible to get in La Jolla or Del Mar.

I might get to teach Arvin something! Gaggenau makes burners that are fabricated inside the slab. You turn it on with controls in the front of the cabinet. Wolf makes a vent hood that is set flush in the ceiling. When you’re not cooking, it’s all invisible. I’m installing this in a Tahoe project next year. Love you. Thanks for educating people how to work with a designer. I get to know my clients needs and dreams. By the time I present, I’m telling them what to do, not asking. The best results are the clients who trust me and let me do my job.

Edit: kudos to his interior designer. And I love the curves and the foyer. An entrance foyer is useful if it’s done right. A place to greet guests, a place to doff coats & hats (and shoes in some areas), a mirror to check your appearance. An umbrella stand if needed. And as Arvin says, to set the stage and mood for the house.

  • @deanchur
    @deanchur 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I kinda like the coffee-shop-in-a-house idea, even if it's a scaled back version of Jimmy's; a quality coffee setup with a decoration/signage is more interesting and characterful than a coffee pod machine dumped in a nook (aka it' creates a little "moment"), and just like coffee shops it can be decorated and adapted in a ton of different ways.

Anyway - thanks for such a great channel! Not sure you answer random questions in comments -- but I have not yet heard you comment on some of these Prime Bedrooms that have no door to the Prime Bathroom. To me, that would be a negative because it wakes up your spouse/partner every time the other gets up and flicks on the light. But, maybe that is not a factor in the super luxury markets? I was curious of your thoughts since I see it quite a bit in the high-end market.

I like the 2 acres flat land of Jimmy Butler s mansion. I see my self creating different gardens in the lot, a regular garden, a Japanese garden, an herb garden. I will put fountains, and a Koi pond. I still will have space for a small soccer court, and a combined basketball, and volleyball court.
I like Jimmy Butler U shape Italian style mansion. I am a sucker for French doors and French windows. I like the house volume, and interior decor. Jimmy paid a low price for that 2 acres mansion. I would rather have this flat land mansion than a $20 million LA mansion on kayson or poles.

I am the Grandom of connoisseur❤
The absence or hidden stove is not a flaw!! I'm sure this man is not a cook, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know there is a well equipped chef's kitchen within the estate.
The one major flaw I spotted was the small awkward " traffic- stop-light" looking chandelier which didn't appropriate the scale of the room.
    Scoring the transformation: A+
Neighborhood: preliminary B (ground inspection needed).

At 2:40 I was thinking "I don't see any cooking vents" -> Assuming that I just missed the stove. Nope, there's just no stove, hence no cooking vent is necessary, but the stove missing is really bad. Also the room looks rather small in scale - so I felt like it would be pretty tight if people were to cook there, but if it's just a glorified snack room, then I guess it's similar to a snack pantry and you won't need too much room to move around..
If you have a wife then you want them to be able to cook and have a place for it - but I guess for those sorts of rich ppl, they prioritize eye candy a lot more, and I know there are plenty of women who don't want to cook if the husband is rich. But at the same time, wouldn't it be good to have a stove for a private chef - or I guess healthy foods aren't a priority in that household?
Honestly, I don't know how to feel if there's no stove in the house - it feels crazy for me.. My wife makes great food and it seems crazy if there's no place for her to cook, even if we had that sort of money..

    "HOA $2000/month "
What? That's like the maintenance price of a luxury condo building. Why does the HOA in the middle of nowhere need $12,000 unit/year? To repair an automatic gate and some lights? A golf course is not that hard to maintain.

Stylish without being ostentatious. Needs s pickleball court more than a tennis court.

Ummmm. 4.3 mil for this is amazing. I like Mountain View and he got another lot to make a basketball ct. i dont even understand how because 4 mil in Chicago suburbs barely gets you a house that big.

The wealthy people in San Diego buy homes in Rancho Santa Fe and Del Mar. People spending above 5 million go to those areas instead of Poway. Very limited to non existent dining and shopping options near the location of this house in Poway. In the past, a lot of the local pro athletes ( Chargers and Padres) bought homes in Poway. Even this house was owned by a pro baseball player before selling to Jimmy. That guy lost a ton of money too, bought for 9 million and spend millions remodeling, then selling it to Jimmy for 4 million after 4 years on the market.
