  • This is the version of this video you were looking for. Glorious 4K. Motion blur and depth of field deactivated. No stupid outfit. No unfitting weapons equipped.
The hidden nuclear disarmament event was triggered in the Steam version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain even though the conditions were never met.

This scene hit me hard... all our efforts just to buy a few weeks of peace at most... then venom in the story having such a sad story. He wasn't remembered, wasn't really known since he was treated as just another appearance of the boss yet he came the closest before solid snake to make a peaceful world, to let the world be, and yet it was all thrown away by the boss, even then he nevered spoke back he felt rage, desperation, phantom pain for a man who threw his efforts away and yet he still carried on until his last breath, still wanting to believe his once idol still has that same spark he did all the way back in msf to do the right thing. I want to believe he died with a somber smile remembering all of his achievements in outer heaven not seen as the bosses but his, leaving with a small smirk.

I just got done producing a nuke just so I could disarm it. My playthrough was completely offline, and I didn't trigger the cutscene. Not sure if it's because I did something wrong or if it's because it can't be triggered despite meeting all requirements

Maybe... Maybe this was the Chapter 3 we datamined. "Peace"... It might not be what we thought it was, nor what we wanted. but it was Peace.
For a brief moment, all was quiet. Even if we had to hack and cheat to get it to happen, all was quiet. For one brief moment, we had achieved disarmament. We achieved Peace.
We may never get the chance to have it happen again, but we can say it DID happen. the peace we sought, True Nuclear Disarmament; a world with Zero Nuclear arms, is simply not possible, so long as the knowledge exists to make it. There will always be another who will one day build a Nuclear weapon.
"Those who do not learn from history are condemned to repeat it."
It's fitting Kojima planned this; he knew total disarmament was simply not going to happen; that war will go on even if the world tries to stop it. How fitting.

does this cutscene trigger before mission 46, in chapter 2? I thought this was after chapter 2 ended

For me, this announcement was damage control by the community manager as a result of the mined cut scenes and data. A few points in question:
When this is Modded on the PC game to trigger, you get the cutscene and are then awarded a 'Kojima' emblem with his face.
The scene itself occurs at a timeline where the childhood soldiers are still at motherbase (they place the wreath), Quiet is alive and you know the 'truth' (based on the end of scene dialogue). It's totally not in sync with the cobbled together game they gave us. Just more smoke and mirrors.
