What I Believe: Chapter 3 was SUPPOSED to be unlocked w/ nuclear disarmament. That would give the studio time to release the game & finish it w/ a patch. Kojima and Konami parted ways. Konami TOOK his notes about Chapter 3 and made Metal Gear Survive from his notes w/o his permission. Hence “Survive” having a hidden meaning. The concept Survived. All the clues are there. The Motherbase soldiers. The dimension loading screen. Chico in the TGS trailer. He would’ve made Silent Hills and that would’ve armed him with the tools needed to implement his “horror” ideas into Chapter 3. “PEACE”… no. When you die you’re at peace. It would’ve been ironic titling. You achieve “peace”, the world is free of nukes. We realize it’s an alternate timeline, that the vortex opened up and Goodluck changed history. Hence why Sehalanthropus is more advanced than Rex. That’s the significance of the nuclear disarmament ending giving us the Obama quote. In THEIR 2008, there are no nukes. Now as far as Death Stranding, it’s clear that Norman Reedus is the stand-in for OLD SNAKE. This was his last mission - his post MGS4 story. So, honestly, you can see, the future is different. Wait, I've seen the nuclear disarmament cutscene in my playthrough many times by now (pretty annoying when you're trying to get back to the ACC swiftly), how are there still people who didn't ever see it once? I've been playing the game for not longer than two years now.

Hence the last rumors about "Silent hill", and who was supposed to make the last "Silent hill" game... and now Norman Reedus mentioning just like that about "Death stranding 2"... maybe it's not "Death stranding 2" but two death stranding games... after all, "death stranding" was also supposed to be a strand between games... my heart hurst :P

The whole game was a phantom pain. It never really existed. I dont believe any of the game is cannon to the real story. It's just kojima basically telling us he's done with metal gear.

The true ending may never be revealed...that is when "PEACE" (the title of Chapter 3) is achieved. Since "PEACE" has yet to be achieved, MGSV is still...not...over.
It did get achieved without any cheating on the PS3 version of the game and another version, but Konami said they were "illegitimate" and when it was achieved nothing happened after the cutscene, there was no "Peace" titlecard or nothing which confirms it was rigged. There is no Chapter 3.
Kojima said you were never suppose to unlock the Peace ending, or that last cutscene because peace is unattainable no matter how much you try. It was a meta thing. A social experiment.

I enjoy venom snake's story. He had his identity taken from him. He was thrust into the responsibility of leading an army who he considered his brothers and whom he genuinely cared for. I think I'm in the minority but I like him more than OG Big Boss. I think he has more heart and is less cold.
i don’t really consider Venom Snake to be big boss. You’re correct, venom is more loving and caring. Big boss is bad because he, as he puts it in MG2SS: “start wars, create victims, take them in, and turn them into soldiers.” he profits off of the war economy. he’s a warmonger who uses child soldiers and creates nuclear equipped walking battle tanks. Venom goes around disarming nukes, saving child soldiers and doing everything he can to make sure they don’t pick up another gun,
It's all a ruze, while Venom 'Punished' Kojima is creating Death Stranding franchise and got attacked by Sony, the real one secretly finishes the MGS V.
I need someone to clarify something for me Wouldn't MGSV being a prequel mean that we literally *cannot* have complete nuclear disarmament, as it's still an issue in every other Metal Gear game?
That's kinda the point I think. The cutscene for disarmament itself implies that they know full well that it isn't really the end of nukes just because they took away the ones everyone else had.
That theory would at least explain why Konami hasn't fixed the Permanent Nukes problem (as documented by Hastatus Atratus for years before DidYouKnowGaming's video which didn't mentioned his work despite my advices to do so) which still prevents Chapter 2's completion by blocking The Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event achievement in a legit way on any platform, in any region, since the game's release date.
Thank you for all of your metal gear content this game is a huge part of my life and I think you for giving your time to make great insightful videos. Always a pleasure to watch your theories and I always feel the phantom pain of not seeing another Metal Gear game since V.
The worst part is that these theories make so much sense lol. And the timing is perfect since I assume we'll probably get MGS Collection Vol 2 later this year, and having extra content is the perfect excuse to have Phantom Pain be part of it

Seriously. I just learned that the gunfire you hear in the background before Venom Snake punches the mirror is gunfire from Solid Snake invading mother base. Apparently this was obvious? lol. A lot of people already knew this, but whatever. You gotta pay close attention and have a working memory of the lore from the NES games to catch it. When I found out, it got me all excited for a Metal Gear (NES) remake. That would be dope af if they did that. Especially after you got to play as Venom Snake in the previous game. It's crazy to think that you'd be playing the guy sent to kill him in the next, like that would be QUALITY story telling. Quality is an understatement actually, and quality storytelling is something the gaming industry is sorely lacking in these days.
@@MavisRecon I really hope they remake MG. When rumors started leaking of a MGS1 remake I was super disappointed. I don't want to go back to shadow Moses again. Id like to see an open world game in Africa where you gey dropped in with your two objectives locate outer heaven and eliminate Big Boss. You have to scour the land, find little outposts and patrols etc for gear and intel on where the base is located and how to navigate the map. And when you find Outer Heaven you have to find your own way to infiltrate. The base would also have various subterranean levels. Limited HUD and limited map information as well.
I'm not holding my breath for this to happen. If it does though, it will be the most amazing artpeice ever made. It will be studied in universities for decades to come... Why are we here? Just to suffer?

If this is true and I think it is, it will make MGSV the most iconic and epic video game release ever. From the planning, to the teasing, to the release of GZ and TPP, to being able to keep the secret for so long, it will honestly be amazing. I'd lose my mind if this is true. I'm a fan since the PS1 release. As a kid back then I couldn't believe that a game had so much grip. Now being 41 and have this theory going around. It's just amazing. Decade's of following this man mind and work and still be surprised.. what a time to live.

Listen everything can happen in the gaming industry but i highly doubt Konami would remove someone as deep routed as Kojima.The guy has been a part of Konami for 28 years.As a new/huge Metal Gear fan that i am,im really crossing my fingers that he isn’t completely done with the series.Ik that milking smth to death is stupid and i don’t like it either but im sure there can be another game or two for the franchise.

I’ve definitely had this same thought of the rest of the game unlocking after 9 years. If this happens I’m calling the Big Boss is Skullface too. I’ve always Fucking thought that and I know there’s tons of evidence for and against it. Not gonna lie playing thru MGS3 with Skullface in the background is definitely a fresh way to play and so is playing MG 1 and 2 with the body double shit. But anyways I’m ranting. Chapter 3 Peace could be we finally found peace in knowing the game is and always has been complete and not missing content. MGSV really is one big 4th wall break after another. Kojima really did something never done before alright. And its impressive. I always love seeing in dev stuff and also like lost to time cut content like in Sonic 06 or the cool prototypes of Zelda Ocarina. So when MGSV came out and all this came out bout the game around launch, dang straight i felt the Phantom Pain of "what could of been" But it was all a Ruse. ive made peace with it I got Chapter 3 Peace Thank you

I won’t mind if nothing happens, one thing I will do is play through again on the 9 year anniversary. This game is a masterpiece as far as I’m concerned.
MGS3 remake confirmed. That and Silent Hill being revived shows Konami is gearing up to make a big return onto the main gaming stage. If there was a true ARG style ruse going on with MGS5 then next year would probably fall perfectly into place with that timeline and the newer big titles they are planning.
Let's be honest, it's at least possible. I am quite sure konami execs do respect kojima as he is a worldwide legend. What would make sense would be if his pitch to them was, "this game will be too expensive, and take too long to make as a single epic, so I'm going to split it up and also perform a massive stunt that will gain you so much autistic respect you wont know what to do with it, and we use the best technology to send mgs off in the grandest style" But that's likely not the case...
I think it was agreed decision. By 2015, Konami was impressed with low profile games, especially mobile games. Then Kojima bursts in, says "no more metal gears for the next 9 years", and they were not going to either because they wanted to make nobile games for eternity. Made up drama with Kojima's exodus. Kojima makes Death Stranding and other stuff, Konami mobile games and eFootball, but 9 years pass they join forces and Make MGSV: ULTRA DELUXE EDITION
Yeah I've been suspecting for a while now that Kojima and Konami never split let alone badly. I think it was to set up a secondary partner company and long term goals to bring certain franchises back to life

It's funny to think that Yoko Taro did pretty much this exact thing, 11 years ago with Nier Replicant's ending E. the remake was released 11 years after the original, but with a secret final ending.
@PythonSelkan I figured it all out. And basically it's a total brain twister... MGSVTPP is a combination of a hallucination and a false memory combined. 1. Why does free roam was kill spots and mission boundaries? Because you can't enter a place in a memory that has never been remembered. 2. Huey and Miller both have inconsistent recalls of events. Huey mistook Snake as the one who wanted the nuke, but it was Miller who wanted the nuke. Miller knowing who Paz was really. 3. Why is it after you meet with Paz at any time, do all the soldiers on motherbase vanish without a trace? 4. The mammal pod was destroyed in Peace Walker. How would The Boss's A.I. still be around? If V had come to, why the Truth mission? Why the 2nd Chapter mission rehashes... Why the phantom nukes? Did we "forget" we had those nukes? Or were they not part of Snake's memory?
Kojima wanted a break from Metal Gear & left us in a coma for years MGSV has multiple cliffhangers Truth, Quiets exit and Disarmament. Also wasn't the first Metal Gear set in 1995? we just need to keep playing until we get to Outer Heaven.

Just gotta say I love these kinds of metal gear videos. I’m a bit different to most as I started with MGS4 on my PS3. The series has been a huge part of my life ever since and I’m glad people like you are still around that actually acknowledge the complicated plot. I always thought I was the only person to try and make sense of it all.
It would be hard to pull this off since the “metal gear online” services are down, and have been for some time now. If the hidden chapter was locked behind the unified nuclear disarmament- it will now remain forever hidden because nobody can access the servers in order to disarm themselves. And if it’s to be patched in as an update, can they even do that? My PS3 always acts like I’m playing in offline mode, like I couldn’t get game patches if I wanted to. Kojima may have had a 9 year plan to hold the epilogue, but he couldn’t predict or prevent the mandatory obsolescence of Legacy systems as the console war arms race expands into wider terrain and leaves the old socom pistol in a Fox hole in favor of something bigger and better. And he couldn’t predict that they would shut down the servers and lock players out of their own games (or the FOB portions) meaning I can’t expand mother base and increase the staff roster beyond the default and gain access to higher level equipment. And he might have planned to pretend he was fired from Konami- but in that time it feels like he was ACTUALLY fired. And nobody could plan for their corporate chess games tbh
Excellent video, as always! I hope this is one of the cases that the profecy becomes real, because someone takes upon himself to make it real. In other words, even if it's not planned to be this way, now that Kojima is watching this video, he can still do it. And we can only hope!
I always thought that the cassette tape and ground Zeroes the one that says do not play an audio cassette is meant to be played in a video playback just like how sunny did in mgs4 with the soltan radar
Analyzing my favorite creatives - Kojima and David Lynch (which Kojima is a fan) - I remember that Lynch said in one of his books that an IDEA it's like a piece of a puzzle, you should hold on to it and love it even if the rest of the puzzle it's in another room, and you don't have the key to it yet. That sometimes means creating loose ends, to connect later. Maybe these 9 years can also be some time to tie this (super highly complex) story, that is the MGS series. Btw, this video gave me hope. I really got emotional. Keep up the good work! I Love MGS.
Here it is 2 years later making it 9 years and we are getting all kinds of new metal gear stuff. We just got the collectors set volume one and now we're getting a remake of three in Delta but it is only using the original audio there's no re-recording could this be because they're busy finishing Metal Gear Solid 5 under the radar add Delta is a reminder of big bosses past?

Metal gear truly does feel like a phantom pain to me too because 5 is the only 1 i played through myself because I'm 19 and didnt experience the old 1s so all my experiences with it after 5 are only these type of videos and play throughs so if this is really it then I have to accept such a great and iconic series that I missed out so much on and that there will probably be nothing like it after.

Wouldn't MGSV being a prequel mean that we literally *cannot* have complete nuclear disarmament, as it's still an issue in every other Metal Gear game?

That's kinda the point I think. The cutscene for disarmament itself implies that they know full well that it isn't really the end of nukes just because they took away the ones everyone else had.
That theory would at least explain why Konami hasn't fixed the Permanent Nukes problem (as documented by Hastatus Atratus for years before DidYouKnowGaming's video which didn't mentioned his work despite my advices to do so) which still prevents Chapter 2's completion by blocking The Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event achievement in a legit way on any platform, in any region, since the game's release date.
Because it was discovered long after development resources moved on from the game.

Seriously. I just learned that the gunfire you hear in the background before Venom Snake punches the mirror is gunfire from Solid Snake invading mother base. Apparently this was obvious? lol. A lot of people already knew this, but whatever. You gotta pay close attention and have a working memory of the lore from the NES games to catch it. When I found out, it got me all excited for a Metal Gear (NES) remake. That would be dope af if they did that. Especially after you got to play as Venom Snake in the previous game. It's crazy to think that you'd be playing the guy sent to kill him in the next, like that would be QUALITY story telling. Quality is an understatement actually, and quality storytelling is something the gaming industry is sorely lacking in these days.

Id like to see an open world game in Africa where you gey dropped in with your two objectives locate outer heaven and eliminate Big Boss. You have to scour the land, find little outposts and patrols etc for gear and intel on where the base is located and how to navigate the map. And when you find Outer Heaven you have to find your own way to infiltrate. The base would also have various subterranean levels. Limited HUD and limited map information as well.
I'm not holding my breath for this to happen. If it does though, it will be the most amazing artpeice ever made. It will be studied in universities for decades to come...

I've watched a lot of your videos previously, but only watched the deep analysis and body double theory videos for the first time last week, I've had GZ and TPP since launch and never even realised Venom wasn't Big Boss until I saw your video (I'm not sure how I missed that to be honest). I’ve definitely had this same thought of the rest of the game unlocking after 9 years. If this happens I’m calling the Big Boss is Skullface too. I’ve always Fucking thought that and I know there’s tons of evidence for and against it. Not gonna lie playing thru MGS3 with Skullface in the background is definitely a fresh way to play and so is playing MG 1 and 2 with the body double shit. But anyways I’m ranting. Chapter 3 Peace could be we finally found peace in knowing the game is and always has been complete and not missing content. MGSV really is one big 4th wall break after another. Kojima really did something never done before alright. And its impressive. I always love seeing in dev stuff and also like lost to time cut content like in Sonic 06 or the cool prototypes of Zelda Ocarina. So when MGSV came out and all this came out bout the game around launch, dang straight i felt the Phantom Pain of "what could of been"

I won’t mind if nothing happens, one thing I will do is play through again on the 9 year anniversary. This game is a masterpiece as far as I’m concerned.
Hopefully Death Stranding 2 is a cover for an MGS6 that remakes MG 1&2 into a game that connects V and MGS1
MGS3 remake confirmed. That and Silent Hill being revived shows Konami is gearing up to make a big return onto the main gaming stage. If there was a true ARG style ruse going on with MGS5 then next year would probably fall perfectly into place with that timeline and the newer big titles they are planning.
An interesting theory, however, it ASKS A LOT of Konami... I'm not sure a company would willingly take on the stigma Konami has just for some gimmick.

What would make sense would be if his pitch to them was, "this game will be too expensive, and take too long to make as a single epic, so I'm going to split it up and also perform a massive stunt that will gain you so much autistic respect you wont know what to do with it, and we use the best technology to send mgs off in the grandest style"

I think it was agreed decision. By 2015, Konami was impressed with low profile games, especially mobile games. Then Kojima bursts in, says "no more metal gears for the next 9 years", and they were not going to either because they wanted to make nobile games for eternity. Made up drama with Kojima's exodus. Kojima makes Death Stranding and other stuff, Konami mobile games and eFootball, but 9 years pass they join forces and Make MGSV: ULTRA DELUXE EDITION
Yeah I've been suspecting for a while now that Kojima and Konami never split let alone badly. I think it was to set up a secondary partner company and long term goals to bring certain franchises back to life

It's funny to think that Yoko Taro did pretty much this exact thing, 11 years ago with Nier Replicant's ending E. the remake was released 11 years after the original, but with a secret final ending.

MGSVTPP is a combination of a hallucination and a false memory combined.
1. Why does free roam was kill spots and mission boundaries? Because you can't enter a place in a memory that has never been remembered.
2. Huey and Miller both have inconsistent recalls of events. Huey mistook Snake as the one who wanted the nuke, but it was Miller who wanted the nuke. Miller knowing who Paz was really.
3. Why is it after you meet with Paz at any time, do all the soldiers on motherbase vanish without a trace?
4. The mammal pod was destroyed in Peace Walker. How would The Boss's A.I. still be around?
If V had come to, why the Truth mission? Why the 2nd Chapter mission rehashes...
Why the phantom nukes? Did we "forget" we had those nukes? Or were they not part of Snake's memory?
Kojima wanted a break from Metal Gear & left us in a coma for years MGSV has multiple cliffhangers Truth, Quiets exit and Disarmament. Also wasn't the first Metal Gear set in 1995? we just need to keep playing until we get to Outer Heaven.
Now I am wondering if Kojima's departure was deliberate between both sides for this.

Just gotta say I love these kinds of metal gear videos. I’m a bit different to most as I started with MGS4 on my PS3. The series has been a huge part of my life ever since and I’m glad people like you are still around that actually acknowledge the complicated plot. I always thought I was the only person to try and make sense of it all.

It would be hard to pull this off since the “metal gear online” services are down, and have been for some time now.
If the hidden chapter was locked behind the unified nuclear disarmament- it will now remain forever hidden because nobody can access the servers in order to disarm themselves.
And if it’s to be patched in as an update, can they even do that? My PS3 always acts like I’m playing in offline mode, like I couldn’t get game patches if I wanted to.
Kojima may have had a 9 year plan to hold the epilogue, but he couldn’t predict or prevent the mandatory obsolescence of
Legacy systems as the console war arms race expands into wider terrain and leaves the old socom pistol in a Fox hole in favor of something bigger and better.
And he couldn’t predict that they would shut down the servers and lock players out of their own games (or the FOB portions) meaning I can’t expand mother base and increase the staff roster beyond the default and gain access to higher level equipment.
And he might have planned to pretend he was fired from Konami- but in that time it feels like he was ACTUALLY fired. And nobody could plan for their corporate chess games tbh

Analyzing my favorite creatives - Kojima and David Lynch (which Kojima is a fan) - I remember that Lynch said in one of his books that an IDEA it's like a piece of a puzzle, you should hold on to it and love it even if the rest of the puzzle it's in another room, and you don't have the key to it yet. That sometimes means creating loose ends, to connect later. Maybe these 9 years can also be some time to tie this (super highly complex) story, that is the MGS series.

We just got the collectors set volume one and now we're getting a remake of three in Delta but it is only using the original audio there's no re-recording could this be because they're busy finishing Metal Gear Solid 5 under the radar add Delta is a reminder of big bosses past?

Metal gear truly does feel like a phantom pain to me too because 5 is the only 1 i played through myself because I'm 19 and didnt experience the old 1s so all my experiences with it after 5 are only these type of videos and play throughs so if this is really it then I have to accept such a great and iconic series that I missed out so much on and that there will probably be nothing like it after.

there are secret nukes that have a timer that you have yo disarm in ground zeros, but they only appear AFTER you complete phantom pains 2nd chapter, you must also set you clock to 9 years earlier than the games release date.
