Where the camera and charge port are mounted are called fender flares not wheel well. Wheel wells are the inside area behind the wheels.

I think whatever's showing up at the 7:29 mark is just reflections, especially that blueish light. The exterior lights just shut off, so it wouldn't make any sense for there to be things lit up inside. Plus, its shape doesn't look like it lines up at all with anything you can see inside.
definitely just a reflection. Watch as the camera moves, it disappears BEHIND the reflection of the column. It's just a big screen/TV inside the factory.
Yes it is just the reflection of the overhead TV. You can see the TV in another angle in the video

7:24 , that is a reflection. You can see the paralax showing it is much further away than the inside of the car, the reflection distoring distoring and the reflection being ocluded by other things being reflected as the camera moves around.
I can't help thinking that if the windows had actually broken the steel ball would have been inside the car.
If I was inside and someone threw a rock or petrol bomb at the window that stayed outside, I'd call that a win.
Windows are even tougher to break. Those broke because they were accidentally left lowered a few cm and the impact from sledgehammer caused tiny cracks. Excited to see how they would improve the strength to really make it bulletproof

so, something people seem to mis understand a lot, often bulletproof glass does shatter when fired into, though the bullet does not make it through, same with other objects. dropping a steel ball from 20 feet (or throwing it into it as hard as you can) onto a piece of glass without any visible damage, is actually more impressive than people realize, not a new invention really, but thats some pretty advanced glass for a vehicle.

For lack for other options. Question. Why does my model 3 sr+ only supercharged at 70-80kw tops at a 150kw Tesla supercharger? Battery was at full regen. Any help?
They didn't partially break the glass with the hit of the sledgehammer - see - Franz didn't hit the rear doors, but glass crashed the same. The problem was that both windows were not closed at the top - so, top edge of the glass was not supported by the door frame. If you look careful, you can see it can be noticed on the front glass, right edge.
It’s good that it broke because now they (hopefully) will try to produce tougher glass so it could stand more torture

Thanks for this video, Ryan! I enjoy watching your news about Tesla. Like you, a rock cracked my windshield. I really hope Tesla Armor Glass will be available for Model Y. I am now scared to drive my car on freeways because it's very expensive to replace the windshield and rocks hit my windshield often.
It is a very clean design and superior to the prototype. They eliminated the door opener leaving a clean surface and also moving the charge connection inside the plastic flares also provides a complete stainless steel look. Front glass has been extended as much as possible to almost match the truck side line to make the overall look more futuristic and integrated. Love it.

Minor error on your video, it does work with the phone on the B pillar. This is a feature only available on android devices due to apple not giving permissions for applications to use NFC.

I have one on order. Needs bigger mirrors that are telescopic for towing a trailer. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I have a fully capable F250 4x4. Not sure the 3 motor is going to cut it when in the NM mountains in bad weather. Also, needs to be able to tow trailers that are not proprietary.

Great video. You covered everything except one thing: the design of the tailgate. In the concept car, the tailgate closed at a 45 degree angle with the body of the car. They removed that and went with a regular design, where the tailgate shuts orthogonal to the body

Watch the video of the original at 2:45. It meets at a 45 degree angle in the original design. It no longer does that. What makes you under the impression that it doesn’t meet at a 45 degree angle?

No one who has seen it has thought to get a video or picture of the inside of the bed where the window is? There has been a lot of rumors that this section might be removable to allow you to access the cab from the bed. Can't tell from this video though.
Since it’s composite you can bank it not having a hinge. It would never hold loose materials if it did
Not sure if you've tried it, but you can actually hold you phone up to the B pillar on the model 3 and it will unlock and lock. I use it on my model 3 whenever it doesn't work automatically.
I do not think the front trunk "seam" is really showing something like the F-150 Lightening. Mainly because US regulations require the headlights to stay attached to the static body of the car and not be "removable" like on a hood lid. That is why MINI has to use oval cutouts on their hood so the lights stay in place but the entire hood (bonnet) can still lift up.
Really wanted that SS metal bed, not sure I'll bite if it's 5.5ft plastic with no upgrade option.
Mirrors aren't that great either. Always thought they'd integrate them into the empty triangular space as a fold out that could fold flush into the frame

I feel fortunate to have ordered a DM with FSD at 7K at start of 2020, since now it looks like SM/TM variants will need to up/downgrade to DM/QM variants *AND* cannot retain FSD price.. which should *NOT* be the case and hopefully changes.
I bet the bumpers were rounded off to comply with NHTSA pedestrian testing - cant be too "sharp" or rough edges that can cause additional injury in case of an accident
The rims without the weird cover look so much nicer than with the cover.

update we love space x we traveled to Boca Chica to see the starship get built. & we got the S dual motor fsd last Christmas 🎄 😎 still have the cybertruck tri motor or 4 motor fsd on order, i got lots of solar & backup battery system to charge them both. i have tsla too. i just got tried of paying $5 for a gallon of gasoline.
This is actually looking really good. I liked the triangle camera thing though. The holes look sort of tacky.
I am making a bet that they may add a center based wiper like the GMA T-50s or the just announced GMA T-33. That design may have a minor issue of having to offset the camera though. Maybe put two offset cameras for redundancy.
And what happened to the ramp we saw on presentation to drive on the bed?

The "screen" you see in the interior is a reflection on the window of a TV in the room next to the truck. You can see it later in the walkaround.

The only thing I don’t like about the new prototype is the front end being so small. The F150 lighting will have a huge front end with loads of storage vs this and will be able to store much more than the cybertruck.

guess i would rather have my storage in the cabin instead of under the outside frunk. Would say the F150 looks smart but waste of space with a gigantic front where the huge engine normally is placed - no need for that now - F150 looks like a normal build ICE pickup - waste of space i think
Well, it can't win in every regard...gotta have some drawbacks but not many I can find. More range, more towing, much better, longer lasting body. I'm hoping there is a mid-gate (hence slightly smaller bed than original?) and still has the stainless tonneau cover.
@@mnp3713 people that buy the f150 lighting won’t be actual truck people that use their trucks like trucks. It’ll be the rich suburban folks that use their 80k truck like a normal car to pickup their kids and groceries. They would much prefer the security of a closed frunk than the open space in the back.

But i think that segment would much rather have the space in the cabin, that was my point about the waste of space using 1,5m of front of car, to store only 2 sportsbags. i Would guess the Cybertruck have around 70% more liters of space in the cabin compared to the F150 as 1/3 of that truck is for a small fronk storage in a huge front - F150= waste og space and bad design.
The bed closes to something that is humidity protected and enclosed though.

At 8:35 you can see in the top right of the video the tv monitor that was causing that reflection in the cyber trucks window
Hopefully they change the windshield wiper to a more flat and smooth design. Maybe they even could hide it beneath the front trunk or something.
The small notch below the frunk appears to be day time running lights.

Not a huge fan of any of the new updates aesthetically, I actually liked it when it first came out, but it just looks sorta deformed to me now. would pick the Rivian or Hummer if I had that kind of money to spend on a vehicle if they produce something similar to that. (ill bet the first quad motor ones are well over 100k maybe even more than the plaid S but less than the roadster)

There's no alternative to the Cybertruck. The new design is better in many ways but it's no big change except for the (removable) side mirrors.
and the $40k version is probably now 60k with the industry pricing now days

@@williamhaynes7089 well 500 miles of range is the full range. But you would likly only use it between 15% and 85% SOC, meaning you have 70% useful range (350miles) typical. With light towing pushing it to the max using trip charging going near zero can yield ranges of nearby 65% of max (325 miles), but again you would not typically do this and doing that on a regular basis would damage the battery. So light towing typical range would be more like 50% (250miles). Now heavier towing can dramatically reduce range as many YTs have shown. Typical range could be as low as 175miles (70%*50%*500miles). If you are doing heavy towing on a regular basis, you are probably better off sticking with a ICE truck, or at least getting a hybrid or better yet a diesel.

I never understood the rumor of the sledge hammer braking the front window because he never hit the rear door with the sledge hammer and yet the ball broke that window too.
ever carried a big sheet of glass? you have to carry it upright because if you carry it horizontally and you lift it on one edge more than the other, you'll break it - same thing with the car, he hit the door and this put pressure on the side of the glass, breaking it-the vibrations prob went through the whole side of the car
The drone shot truck has a different wiper. It's completely straight. The one in Texas has a different shape. Rims look different too.

I'm not a fan of the single wiper. We rented a Yarris once. It went straight back to the rental place when we saw what its single wiper did. Itt was NEVER out of the driver's line of sight when it was operating.
