    Great video on replacing the P.S. pump. I own an 08 Honda Accord myself and am in the process of shopping around for a P.S. pump and replacing the old one. This video was helpful and informational.

    Excellent, just what I needed. I replaced the oring on the low pressure side and it was fine for a month, then I noticed it was now leaking at the main seal. So new pump time.

    Is the after market steering pump ok to use? The honda oem one cost 400+ and the aftermarket is half that price. Someone told me those aftermarket ones don’t last long and leaks time to time. Whats your advice on oem or aftermarket

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve had my Napa in for a while and zero issues. I recommend it.
      Say, you have 400, go for the OEM. My OEM lasted 11 years. If you don’t, then aftermarket is fine.
      Starters - i put in an aftermarket, next car I’ll do OEM

    • @JohnT2088
      @JohnT2088 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@YoDIYVideos i am asking cause $400+ is too much for me at the moment. If its 100% necessary than i have to choose oem. I just heard bad reviews about aftermarket. If after market works fine and at least last at least 5 years then i rather go aftermarket to save money. I was just wondering what is your advice.

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bought a Napa remanufactured. No issues with it. The seals in them are replaced and rebuilt (put back together) and repainted black.
      Part # - NSP 826046.
      Save the money, lifetime warranty. Don’t think too hard about it. I always check for leaks no, zero leaks

      My power steering pump wasn’t that bad, ended up having some issues with leakage. Every time I would check the engine bay, mainly had really loud whining.

  • @laj382

    Did you try installing an oring kit on the original pump and replace the internal orings and seals or did you just replace orings on the high pressure and low pressure connectors before deciding to install a new pump?

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the later and then moved on to replacing the entire pump. I didn’t have the time to break it apart and replace the seals.
      I went with a Napa in house brand and it’s been rock solid the entire time.

  • @Snairb_C824

    So how do you know if it’s the o rings?

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's leaking at the entry way or exit, then by process of elimination and cost, the O-rings are the cheapest way to eliminate the o-rings. It could be the pump or the connections in those steps. 3-10 bucks versus 150 for a new pump, i'd go with o-rings first to try it out. Good luck and let me know how it works out.

    I like how you say you need a wrench to remove the belt. No size given... and then you pull out some long as unique looking wrench that you need to do the job with no description of this tool that makes the job easy 🤣👏

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Ok, so that’s my bad. The tool is a belt tensioner tool and one end is a 14mm and the other is 19 mm.
      You can totally get a breaker bar and use your sockets that already own. Using a pipe as a lever, that’ll be enough to reduce the tension.
      I’ll link in description.

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went with a Napa brand one and didn’t notice any noise.
      I’d probably try to work out any air bubbles and see if that cuts down on the noise.

      @@YoDIYVideos Thanks for the reply and great to hear. There are so many videos that condemn reman power steering pumps, saying only get new ones. I'm glad to see that mindset is really not necessary and we can both save some money as well as help recycle parts by buying reman.

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyone always talks about the negative things, very few people talk about their success stories. In this particular example, the power steering pump is very easily accessible, worth a chance on a remanufactured item. Good luck, hope the car keeps on driving for a long time

    Is there specific configuration that the serpentine belt has to be in order to work correctly? You know how some belts are going in multiple directions? Also, in order to get leverage on the belt, did you have to remove anything underneath the car?

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The serpentine belt does have a specific configuration for it to work.
      For this car no, I didn’t have to do much under the car.

    If my steering pump is making noise and leaking, do I replace it or will the O rings fix the leak?

    • @YoDIYVideos
      @YoDIYVideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on where it’s leaking. If it’s leaking at the input or output of the pump, then try the orings. If it’s the casing, it’s most likely the pump.
      The oring and new fluid should be under 20 bucks, a new pump should be under 200 at your local parts store.
      My oring fix lasted for one year and then the casing started to leak. Replaced the pump and zero issues.
