@@pierrex3226 Garmin watches are more bulky due to display and buttons. And wearing Garmin watch means you can't wear regular watch. The fact of zero display is exactly my favorite feature of whoop this means I can use it anywhere not necessary just on wrist - for instance on biceps. I also can wear whoop on right hand and watch on left hand and it doesn't look weird as if I'm wearing two watches.
After watching this video for 14 minutes, I still don't really understand how collecting all this data actually improves your life? What does it tell you, that you don't already know by listening to your body?
I see some utility if you have some physical condition, like in the heart or something. Also it gives some information on oxygen levels and stuff. But unless you need that info it seems like consumerism to me. And social signaling.
I use a Huawei watch for cycling, and there are some genuinely useful things it tells me. It will tell me how much time I spent with different metabolism (aerobic vs anaerobic), and it will give me a grade for how much of an improvement that particular session has made for me in both metabolic processes, which is important to me since I do sprints. It also measures strain and estimates my recovery time, which I find genuinely useful, along with tracking my speed and route. But by far the most useful thing is actually telling me how long I've slept for, and I'd get the whoop strap for the sleeping metrics. This is because I have sleeping difficulties. :') The point is, my regular watch has all the features that are genuinely useful to me in what I do, so the whoop makes no sense, but sleeping data would be very beneficial to me because I have difficulties, so I think this is only really useful to people who have a genuine need for it :)
I think it is targeted at high performing athletes who care about this data. I wear it and my coach uses the data that uploads to my Training Peaks every day to monitor my recovery and fatigue throughout training blocks. If I wasn't an athlete I would not wear one. I think the regular person should get a smart watch and get way more functionality, but for me this is the best option!
I wear a nice Rolex left arm and the fitbit charge 6. With the fitbit app I have all necessairy datas and on the whatch is a small display (when not wearing the Rolex)
Been playing with the idea of getting a Whoop. But I can’t justify wearing something else other than a watch. I hate accessories. I don’t wear rings. But I wear a watch. So an Apple Watch + Athlytic does the same as a whoop 🤷🏻♂️ And a lot cheaper. Do I need all this data? I don’t know. But I’m learning what my behaviour (food, rest, alcohol, etc) means for my health data.
My Garmin instinct 2 has all the sensors, all the data and training and health. information and algorithms, and it cost little over 200 once ! but has a screen, GPS, training information and programs, and 30 days of battery life. I am a watch guy that wears mechanical watches so I looked into woop, but it is stupid expensive with the subscription and all. I just wear the garmin at night and workouts it gives all the health and fitness information onward can want
The worst thing is that the data is consistently poor and frequently it is objectively wrong. I’ve tried two generations of whoop with the same random spikes in hr etc. the strain score and recommendations therefore are based on flawed information. Virtually useless. The only thing that was helpful was the habit tracker (which you can benefit from without the tech)
The price per month is ridiculous. And I made a quick bicep band from fabric I bought online that cost $2 instead of $40. But it needs at least an alarm, payment, and notifications.
It does take all measurements without internet though, it just synchronizes them later so you can look at the app only with internet i guess. For long hikes without internet this might be annoying but if your phone dies or you dont have internet for a couple hours it still tracks everything. Been wearing it for half a month only though ^^
Nuh, I’ve yet to meet a person in real life wearing it. All the athletes and TH-camrs get a free one along with affiliate code to promote…just like you. Reddit full of people that got scammed into it and returned theirs me including.
I disagree, I got one, decided it was expensive and never renewed it. Since then I have tried cheap watchs and expensive ones including Garmin and Fitbit and none have been no where near as accurate. It also works with tattoos which many devices don't as the ink can block the light the device uses to track your metrics. Am going back to them, really wish it just showed the time but it's not a deal breaker for me.
I have a Garmin fenix 6 pro. It tracks sleep, HR, hrv, has a body battery measurement that depletes throughout the day, and given that I train 10+ hours a week, it's keeping tabs on my performance, recovery, vo2max, training load and so on. No subscription. Last time I looked at Whoop, I couldn't find a reason to even try it. I'll blow my dad before I pay 30 EUR a month to track that data.
I have been wearing my WHOOP now for four years, it is hands-down, not only the best fitness tracker, but one of the only must have subscriptions in my life. I wear an Apple Watch and a WHOOP, I mainly use the Apple Watch as a simple device to know, phone calls and text messages, and a WHOOP does the rest. Having the ability to track your sleep, journal, and then use all the data to actually improve. Your life has been life-changing for me. Could not recommend WHOOP more if you want to take your health seriously! Also, a common misconception about WHOOP is that you don’t need one because you don’t work out or are not an active lifestyle person, that could not be more incorrect as it is more so designed for your every day life not just your workouts.
@@mattb2906 no, not at all. I did not even know what they were until a gym in which was a client of mine started using the product after they were given a few subscriptions by WHOOP. We all got one month free, after that, we had a decision, whether to keep it or not. I was hooked, absolutely have been buying it every single month since, the product, and the data is far too valuable in my daily life.

Whoop is way overpriced and overrated. Get a Garmin wearable like forerunner 965. Has the same metrics and even a display and no subscription fees… how you know it’s no good? You are constantly being spammed with ads by whoop. Never seen a garmin ad. They are the market leader…
Because steps truly have no impact on your physical health. Steps would be tracked via strain, which is automatically calculated into your personal algorithm for your body. Steps are virtually worthless in the sense of knowing what they are doing for you. This is far more in depth, and if you want something to track your steps, then obviously you have the ability to wear something else. Knowing you walked 10,000 steps today doesn’t tell me where my body is in the sense of physical strain for that day.
knowing the time and heart rate when I run seems essential. bonus for displaying notifications. wearing 2 watches is dumb... it would have been nicer with a basic screen
I hate that there’s not a good alternative to WHOOP.
30 euros monthly is insane
You can pay annually though
Vaguely recent Garmin products do the same thing, as far as I can tell. No subscription

$30/month is crazy. Why does everything have to be a subscription, man?
thats how they generate revenue for their years of R&D and lean scaling
Imagine there were other ways to fund it before. Now it’s just pay per minute of your content-rich life. Hate it
There is a very clear reason for strain going to 21! Suggest you do some more reading.

30 bucks is not in addition to buying, it‘s instead of it. Yearly plan is 22 a month.

Does anyone knows if you need another “wristband” for wearing your whoop in the bicep??

Why steps are important? It's not a good metric.
3:46 even a dot matrix could look cool on the Whoop
only thing holding me back from buying it is price: more than 400€ every 2 year as a young person is still too much
Can it count calorie intake then measure the calorie deficit would need?
How and why should it be possible
Yeah it also counts your micro nutrients and it tells you how many more chicken breast you need to hit your daily intake goals.
How can it know how much my body is « strained »?
