According to The Quantified Scientist's latest video, WHOOP is very inaccurate measuring heartbeat when it comes to bodybuilding, which really sucks because I don't do cycling, running or any other sports other than bodybuilding. I don't know how would my other parameters be when the device not measures correctly.
I literally just tested the on the accuracy of the Whoop vs Apple Watch vs a classic chest strap in terms of measuring your heart rate and will show my findings soon. In terms of bodybuilding Whoop has the strength trainer which will track your strain a lot more accurately because it actually uses the tonnage (reps x sets x weight) to calculate your strain. This will make all your other parameters more accurate. I did a deep dive video on how to use it and my thoughts on the strength trainer here th-cam.com/video/-uAdSJsmb2g/w-d-xo.html. You should check it out.
there is NO Device that is tracking Bodybuilding accurately, because all of them track it through your heartrate what is not the best way to track your sessions. BUT, if you use their "Strenght trainer", they track it WAAAAAAY Better, because they know what exercise you are doing and how it affects your body. But still yeah... not Apple, not Garmin can do it "really good".
yup agreed. As you get trained your HR is never really high enough to get strain from bodybuilding. Yes, the strength trainer had about double the strain than a “weightlifting” session Whoop automatically detected .
I bought one and after a day of having it it occurred to me to check about EMF output to make sure it's safe, from what I'm seeing it seems to be but any input would be much appreciated
Heres what I found. According to information from WHOOP itself, the EMF output of a WHOOP device is considered very low, with the company stating that it emits EMF at irregular intervals and not continuously, with the absorption of power by the human body from a WHOOP being measured at 0.31W/kg; you can find the full Bluetooth reports on the FCC website for further details. I wouldn't worry too much about it considering how many devices we all have around us 24/7 that have EMF, but I do appreciate you bringing this up because its not a factor I have thought about for awhile.
I have an Apple Watch. But want to wear mechanical watch more often. The whoop calls my attention because of it. Idk if I should spend the money. Last yr my wife gifted me the Apple Watch. What are your thoughts on Apple vs whoop?
I 100% understand this situation. I love wearing nicer dress watches (my citizen in this video) and was in this same predicament. I own both and In my opinion the Whoop is way more robust than the Apple Watch. The app has much more data and it’s a lot easier to wear all the time to get that data. I can’t sleep in my Apple Watch, so that’s out the window completely for me. I know the whoop is expensive, but to me it’s worth it year after year.
@@IronOathFitness This is exactly how I stumbled onto this video! I love watches and always wore a decent watch before I got my first Apple Watch. Recently I've wanted to get back to wearing traditional watches. I was thinking of just wearing the AW when I workout and the Whoop would let me do that since I really don't want to lose the fitness tracking... As a coincidence, I think you're wearing the Citizen Eco-Drive dive watch that I've been eyeing.
Yup, I was in the exact same situation with the Apple Watch. Yeah that would work great. Yes sir! I have had that watch for about 10 years and absolutely love it. The Eco-drive technology is no joke either. As long as I wear it 1-2x a week it stays fully charged. Couldn't recommend it enough.
@@IronOathFitness Just broke down and ordered a Whoop with the 10% discount. Thank you! I also see a Colorado flag in the background on one of your other videos! I'm just up here in FoCo!
@ You won’t regret it man! Give it a week or so to “learn you” in terms of the accuracy of the calories,hr, rhr, etc. Went to CSU man! If I flipped the camera around you would see my Rams flag haha. I love Foco.
@@IronOathFitness I have tried, originally with an Epix Pro and found it cumbersome. Not to mention almost knocking my wife out with it during the night. I then added a second, lighter weight Garmin 265 to the mix that was better for nighttime use. That said, even then I still don't like wearing a watch for sleep tracking.
@@IronOathFitness I was joking by the way, but it was a practical observation on your part. I also have a Whoop and never thought to rotate it around at night for extra illumination.
Haha I could see the potential of the KO to the wife. Yeah I talked to my buddy who’s been a long-term garmin user and he said it’s tough to sleep with, but did mention turning it over and having the face on his inner wrist was more comfortable for sleep.

The best video ive seen on this topic. Subscribed
Appreciate that!
Great Video. Thanks. Just one thing: if you use a withings scale, your weight will be added automatically from the withings App to whoop
Did not know this! Thanks for the heads up. Will be looking at getting one of those right now 😂

You lost me at pee flashlight. Garmin’s is better.
Haha fair enough. That is quite the feature in my opinion. Honest question, can you consistently sleep with your Garmin watch on?

I literally use that function every night, which means I probably drink too much water.
Old hardware technology. Nice try Whoop
@GoBrand0n what do you mean?
