I used this video yesterday to install my own. Took about 3-3.5hours for me and although it was scary cutting into my hood they came out perfectly. I wouldn’t have had the faith to do it without this in depth video. Thanks.
Just did this to my varis hood yesterday. Following this video it came out perfectly. Thanks for making it easy. Hardest part was bringing myself to drill the first hole lol.
Honestly lad they way this video is written and your explinations, showing everything, great little tips, etc. is absolutely perfect. I'm a bag of nerves when it comes to working on my own car but this has given me the balls to act. You're a saint
Bro I've never seen such in depth instructional videos before 👏👏👏👏 keep it up man!! Too bad there arent too many type R owners yet. Keep it up and this channels going to grow huge in the Honda community
Hey, thanks! I actually have alot more installs recorded... just haven't edited them yet. And recording more as we speak! Stay tuned! You can find me on IG here -----> instagram.com/geforce_ginger/
You’re the goat!!!! Love the video. I’m using this for my civic si hood. I got a type r carbon hood but the latch doesn’t hook so I’ll use these latches instead
Great job man! Nice clear instructions. I also really like the way you highlighted which nuts needed to be removed etc. I found the music a nice touch too, not super repetitive and annoying like most time lapse sections of other videos. More type r content please. There are decent videos out there but yours was really impressive, thanks a lot for the good video. GeForce Ginger, cool name too hahaha
Man... what a great video! Totally helped me just install mine. Question though, the drivers side pin goes in right in line with the air box. I have not water tested the aerocatches yet but they do not seem water tight. Anyone test that yet?
This was a solid video as I've seen other ones and they were not as perfectly described and honestly the way you speak calm me down to know it's okay to cut 😂. I have one question though. I have a Kevmsnz VO carbon fiber with center see-through acrylic. I cannot mount at that exact location that you used on the seibon hood and was thinking about using the two exterior factory holes. You got any thoughts or tips?
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. Man, I'd hate to set you off in any direction without knowing 150% sure I was right. One of the main things to consider (which is mentioned in this video) is that the plastic fasteners need to be able to lay completely flat on the hood wherever you mount them. If when using the stencil the center pins line up and the fastener is able to lay 100% flat in that spot , you should be good to go. But don't take my word for it since I haven't done that hood before. My best advice is to find someone that has and ask them. Else have a professional install them.
is there any other areas on the hood to install them? my first molding hood has a hump where the airbox is, so the driver side placement of the catch won't be usable... hmmmm..
The important thing is that the latch lays flat across the hood when you install it. So, if you do pick another location, keep that into consideration.
Hey there. Sorry, but I don't do installs anymore. I switched careers and no longer have time. A local body shop shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred dollars or so. Best of luck to ya.
@@geforceginger thank you! I figured it out it was diamond cutting discs, Your video is the only reason I was able to install mine😂 thank you for going into so much detail
I appreciate it. Not sure I really care about having subs. My main mission here was to fill in gaps for FK8 info that I couldnt find myself. And now there are many other FK8 channels so I really don't see the point anymore.
@@mkFF4693 @mike stone Mine fit like a glove. I'd give it a 9.5/10. Other brand carbon fiber hoods I've installed for other FK8s weren't nearly as good a fit. Hope this helps!

Awesome! Glad to hear it. I've been running this for several months now with no issues whatsoever. Even when I wash my car, I dont worry. Good to go.
You did very good job and details on carbon fiber hood with the aerocatch, It looked awesome on Type R!
Thank you!
Professional installation video guide…. Thank you… Learn a-lot… clean install 👍 great editing

how short cut the pins
Doesnt have to be exact. Just about as long as you see in this video. The pins are too long to fit without cutting some off the end,
That's a great tutorial video one of the best videos I have seen great work 👍
Thank you!
Nice video that helped me out hellas bro
Thank you. Glad it helped! Cheers :)
Curious, how much does that hood weighs vs stock?
Also how much does the aerocatch fasteners weight?
Honestly probably very similar. The latches are super light. This hood isnt about weight reduction. Its about cooling.
Should I wrap the hood before or after install? What's your opinion on the best route. Because it WILL be wrapped.
I would install the Aerocatch first. Wrap 2nd.
I gotta do this like now.
You should. Its really not that hard.
Why the need to cut the pins down? Do they hit something in the engine bay?
Exactly.

Thank you!!!
Damn I need an installer
Drill bit sizes?
Yes.
How much you charge to do this to my FK8?

@@teemohnay thanks Tyler for responding
What is the purpose of this?
It's to keep the hood securely shut at high speeds. Seibon recommends using pins on all of their hoods (as well as many other brands).
What kind of cutting discs did you use?
I just bought some basic ones off amazon. The type that come in the small bit kit with most rotary tools.

Serious proposal. If you are local I would like to pay you to install the pins on my varis hood

Safety 1st.
YeH F that 😂😂. I'll keep how it is
Not very safe at high speeds. This definitely isn't for looks.
