@@johnhise4225 You’re right. If the laser would have the power to do so, I would have done that. Since the one I’m using is just powerful enough to engrave I went that way. I could have used multiple passes but then the edges are kind of ruined, why I went that way.
Just wondering why you did not use the laser itself to cut out the shape of the bookmark, and then just hand sand the edges to remove any char?

I hope not 😊 But the oil is already hardening for 1 week. I will give it a try soon and let you know.
Wouldn't the oiling of the items leech into the pages of the books?
I‘m using one of the bookmarks myself now for a couple of weeks and there is no oil leeching into the pages of my book.
