What a superb review. 💚🤎 Love the dark filter analogy. A very well balanced patch fragrance to be sure. In fact, balance seems to be a theme with Diptyque. Pep once described it as an introvert's patch and I agree. Something about the tea and sage aspects that give it character for me. No question that autumn is the perfect season for it. 🍂

@@pixieandthenotes To me it’s quite elegant, a bit old school with it’s earthy, a little boozy kind of patchouli. A hint of cacao and tobacco as well, but the patch is truly dominant.
Ooh I really need to try this. I was looking at Diptyque in a department store recently - tried Eau Capitale and l’Ombre dans l’Eau but ignored Tempo as I thought it may be too masculine (i like a few masculine leaning fragrances but for some reason thought this would be too much). It sounds really nice though. My favourite patchouli based perfume is Lady Vengeance by JHAG, not sure it counts though since it has a hefty dollop of rose. Loved the detail and imagery in your review ❤

The best patchouli perfume that i know so far is definitely Patchouli Intense by Patricia de Nicolai. It is a wonderful fresh blend and the patchouli is not dominating at all. You should really try it out!
I know it very well, I even I reviewed it a few years ago. Unfortunalely, I don't see patchouli in it a all. For me it's only in the name. I heard a few people say there's not much patchouli in it. I really love the fragrance, but it's too powerful for me. I can't handle the strenght.
I grew up surrounded by the strong, pure scents of attars like vetiver, rose, sandalwood, jasmine, and kewra, so I've never been able to appreciate light fragrances. Over the last 20 years, I've tried many perfumes, but I was always searching for something I would want to own forever. Then, I encountered Tempo in a department store, sampled it, and promptly forgot its name. One fine day, I caught a whiff of something amazing but couldn't pinpoint where the intoxicating scent was coming from. It turned out to be emanating from the collar of my jacket. I spent the entire day racking my brain, trying to recall where and when I had tried it, given my extensive history of sampling perfumes. Eventually, I returned to the store, retracing my steps, and fortunately rediscovered this gem. I asked for a sample to confirm, and that's when I fell in love with it. Its drydown is the best; I even spray it on my forearms before bed so that my sheets also carry its scent. What a beautiful creation from Diptyque

This is the only Diptyque(from their EDP) that blew me away, it was an instant love. Tam Dao my second favorite.
