The Live Aid concert should be viewed as a complete show. Please watch the entire 22 minutes. Queenies will watch the entire concert.
I agree that the whole Live Aid show should be seen complete. It’s a flow and experience, and you won’t miss a second, and every second is special. There were 72,000 people there. They’ve performed in huger stadiums in the ‘80s, in Rio, 150,000 at a time, 2 nights in a row. Budapest was huge. Freddie did one solo album-Mr. Bad Guy-, as did Roger Taylor (more than one, and before Freddie did) and Brian May did too, but they never broke up to do those, just needed breaks from their grinding routine they’d been doing over 15 years until those were done. He also wrote/performed an album with the beautiful soprano opera singer, Montserrat Caballe’ (Barcelona). There’s a huge Queen rabbit hole to climb into…over 300 songs. Enjoy%
One of the last and best original sounding bands for real. So good still to this day 💯
💯
You need to do the whole performance at the same time. It will not have the impact otherwise. Keep in mind that Freddie was told by his doctor not to do this concert because he had a bad throat infection. There were 2 concerts that day. This one in the UK and one in Philadelphia. The audience in Philadelphia (90,000) got to watch this on a big screen and all were participating. This was broadcast all over the world using 13 satellites. 1.9 billion people (40% of the world’s population) watched this.
Duane back your ass up and watch the whole 20 mins. of LiveAid you are missing the greatest live performance ever.
The Queens 20min live aid set was the greatest set in rock history. Queen without question stole the show. It was truly unbelievable
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
I was 13 at the time and remember watching Live Aid from start to finish. Queen definitely reigned supreme that day ❤
Live Aid Had 72,000 People in attendance and 1.9 Billion people watching from around the world.
Freddie performed against doctors orders with a throat infection.
He said it felt like broken glass in his throat.
Live Aid made 140 million dollars for famine in Africa. That was a lot of money back then.
When the boys left the stage, a prince from Dubai donated $1 million Dollars
72.000 People were in Wimbledon alone. Another 89.000 people were in the stadium in Philadelphia. Phil Collins played in London, flew to New York by Concorde, on to Philadelphia by helicopter and performed again😍!
This song is about how music listening was changing because of MTV and music videos. Talking of the importance of listening to music and interpreting yourself what the songs means instead of watching a video.
I love the little kick Freddie does at the end of the song - they know they’re killing it!
Totally agree about watching the whole set. I watched pretty much the whole Live Aid concert on tv as it was happening... what an amazing weekend! I am loving your newfound Queen enthusiasm!
Please, please listen to the whole concert Live Aid 1985 all at once ,❤❤!!! the best way to see Queen!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤Freddie Forever
Totally ....at the time I was 25 watched live on TV ...Nottingham England x
@@susanpeters5392 I was 19 and 6 months pregnant at the time. I watched it on TV. In Nottinghamshire, England.
They stepped on stage at 6:41 pm and the audience went just crazy. The best live version of Bohemian Rhapsody is the Montreal 81 version.
That girl you appreciated is a grandmother today.
Queens live performances are even better than there studio stuff even though the studio stuff is incredible! Time to hit the huge catalog of Queens live performances there are all unbelievable . They are jaw dropping
R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
Bohemian Rhapsody was just an intro at Live Aid. Bands had a 20 minute allotment for their performances. Queen shortened a couple of songs to pack in as much as possible. Check it out at Montreal 1981 but know that the a cappella intro is skipped and the operatic section is the recorded version. There were multiple overdubs which made it impossible to recreate live. Also, Freddie sang all the harmonies for the a cappella recording..
Don’t faff around. Just react to the whole Queen performance. Many other reactors have. It really is the only way to react to the best Live Aid performance. In fact the best most iconic of all time.
Queen was amazing! Freddy had a 4 octave vocal range. More Queen please 😊
Freddie is the GOAT, the best frontman of any band, ever. I was in the same stadium 1 year later for a Queen gig on the last tour they did. One of the best nights of my life.
They put a lot of time into the production of their songs for the studio versions - they are masterpieces, and Freddie once said why play them the same live. If people want to hear that version, they'd stay home and listen to the record! Good point 😂 You can't go wrong with the lives. Watching Freddie bringing the music to life takes it to another level. May I suggest Under Pressure, live at Wembley - it has an interesting part at the beginning 🤔😁
Don't feel too bad about not knowing Freddie was part of Queen.
There are a whole lot of reactions where people refer to him as Queen out there on YT. Usually the comment section gets them up to speed pretty quickly :)
Freddie did do some stuff on his own - like the album with Montserrat Caballé that includes "Barcelona" and "How Can I Go On?" - both of which are amazing.
FYI - the version of Bohemian Rhapsody from Live Aid is only about the first 1/3 of the song. They only had 20 minutes to get their set in. To appreciate it, you should see it from beginning to end.
Freddie could easily fill a stadium 10 times bigger. He was a mega star. 😊
Queen is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 and was comprised of:
Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and piano
Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals
Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals
John Deacon - Bass guitar
Queen has released 15 studio albums, 10 live albums, 16 compilation albums, two soundtrack albums, 2 extended plays, 73 singles, and seven promotional singles.
Live Aid was a duel-venue concert held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London (audience of 72,000) and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia (audience of 90,000) that was connected and broadcast over 13 satellites worldwide to an audience of over 1.9 Billion. The purpose of the concert was to raise money to aid Ethiopia which was suffering from 2-year drought.
There were 75+ acts, each allotted a 20-minute slot to perform. The UK line-up included Status Quo,, David Bowie, Elton John, Wham!, Sting, U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, and Bob Geldof with his band The Boomtown Rats. The US bill included Madonna, Eric Clapton, Duran Duran, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, and Tom Petty. Phil Collins played in both London and then caught the Concord Supersonic Jet and flew to perform again in Philly.
Live Aid did not have a Queen audience. All of the tickets to Wembley were sold before Queen was announced to be part of the venue. At this time, Queen was considered to be an old band (they had been performing since 1970.) Those in the audience came to see groups like U2 and Wham!
Also, remember the Live Aid at Wembley concert began at 12:00 London time (the Philly concert began 5 hours later), so the audience had been there in the sun and heat for nearly 7 hours by the time Queen performed.
Unlike most of the other acts performing, Queen took this performance very seriously. They rented a hall and rehearsed their performance for a week before the concert. They had clocks placed all over the rehearsal area to keep track of the time (remember they were limited to 20 minutes). Here is a video of the rehearsal along with an interview with the band about Live Aid - th-cam.com/video/e1ccSGPjd9o/w-d-xo.html
Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Freddie’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star
“Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.”
Queen's playlist was:
1. Bohemian Rhapsody (just the ballad and guitar portion)
2. Radio Ga Ga (the song that inspired Lady Ga Ga's name)
3. Freddie's Call and Response 4. Hammer to Fall
5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
6. We Will Rock You (just the first verse and guitar solo)
7. We Are The Champions
Freddie wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" while bathing in his Berlin hotel. It took him about 10 minutes to write it. He was inspired and yelled for someone to bring him a guitar which he used to write the song. (Roger said he never understood how Freddie got that damn guitar in the tub.) He wrote it as a tribute to Elvis Presley. Not only does Freddie play a guitar on stage during this song (the only song which he does) but Brian uses 3 different guitars during the song. He started with his eclectic acoustic guitar, then switched to a Fender Telecaster, and finished with his homemade Red Special guitar. th-cam.com/video/0ORIoUohBUc/w-d-xo.html
Yes you need to watch the whole Queen set of LIVEAID x ...they stole the show that day.....even though Freddie weren't feeling well x
Watch him doing 'Barcelona' with Opera singer Monsteratt Caballe....Freddie loved opera...his vocal range is magnificent x
I would love to hear you react to Queens live performance in Budapest. Specifically, Freddy singing Who Wants to Live Forever. The power in his voice is like no other . Love your channel. Thankyou ❤
I agree with others this should be watched all together. Also another amazing Queen live performance is “somebody to love” 1981 Montreal
Agree with others about the entire Queen performance. Queen was not on thee set list when tickets were sold, so it wasn’t a Queen audience. But this was so good that people who came for other artists went home Queen fans
The whole Live Aid concert was epic. If you don't know about it and how they tried to sync the US and UK elements then definitely read about it. It was the biggest live music event in the world at the time.
Queen are incredible and the song have aged well. The official video for I Want to Break Free will make you laugh.
Agred. You wont get full effect if you dont watch the set as a whole. You wont regret it. If you do it, people will watch entire post. Queen is much better live. Btw, live aid was a benefit concert to raise $ to ease Ethiopian famine. Queen was only one of dozens of bands to perform that day. They were at Wembley, in London. There was also a show in Philadelphia. Concerts were broadcast live, world wide. Song has to do with video overtaking radio and what a shame it was . The ga ga part was just something one of the band members little toddler said while he was writing ,.so he put it in. So, song pays homage to music played on the radio...alowing listener to create their own mental images...rather than a video doing for them . 😊
You need to watch the whole 20 mins in one go otherwise ruins the entire impact and experience is lost
You are correct, of course. Unfortunately we can't tell them until it's too late
No no no not song by song. Whole set. Find the video that starts with the police some others cut off. Also, yes Freddie did other projects (including opera) as did Brian (guitar) and Roger (drums)
As many others have said you MUST watch the greatest 20 minutes in rock history as a whole. It’s the only way to truly understand how incredible the band was and to see the greatest front man in history hold millions in the palm of his hand, control them and leave with them begging for more. No one worked a crowd better than Freddie and no one ever will again. Watch it all, we’ll be here to enjoy you experiencing it. We promise.
RE. LIVE AID…
You DEFINITELY need to watch the entire set all-in-one-piece, it loses a LOT if you chop it up… and the 20-minute set goes by SO FAST, you won’t believe it!
(If you don’t play the whole set in-one-piece, you will…. “BUTCHER THE FLOW OF IT”!😉)
IMPORTANT NOTE:
There are a LOT of good-quality copies of the full Queen Live Aid video posted on diff channels…
BUT… there are also TWO “corrupted” videos that have parts of the Queen performance CHOPPED OUT.
The EASIEST way to avoid BOTH of these corrupted Live Aid videos is:
1) Pick a copy of the video which has TWO “COPS” at the start, introducing the band. Or…
2) Just get a LINK from one of your Queen fan subscribers!
P.S. Absolutely DO NOT “waste your time” doing “Bohemian Rhapsody” from Live Aid as a separate segment, because it ISN’T the whole song; it’s only the intro.
FOR A FANTASTIC LIVE VERSION of “Bohemian Rhapsody” (the WHOLE song)… Watch the live performance at:
MONTREAL in 1981
Also thus is where Lady Gaga got her stage name
Fell in love in 75
Watch the whole performance to get the full affect, also there is a song that is done later with Brian May. Also the band is excellent. Brian May played 3 different guitars in one song. Try Under pressure whhich not in live aid
Hey here are a bunch of great queen live performances
We are the champions and god
save the queen live wembley
Tie your mother down live wembley
One vision live wembley
It's a kind of magic live wembley
Under pressure live wembley

R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU
You need to react to Queens entire 20 minute performance at live aid. Most everyone reacts to it.....
No saying he loved and misses radio due to videos
Do the whole concert. The best 22 minutes in rock. Do t do it a song at a time. You need to do it end to end.
Prophets Song is a great different one
Saw the band twice LIVE
After the last time I saw this Band They EXPLODED into Superstardom
You should watch the extended version of Under Pressure. The way he controls the crowd.
We only had radio back then
I'm back, I had to see which song of Live Aid you watched to see why your subscribers became upset. Just to give you some background on Radio Ga Ga. The song was written by drummer Roger Taylor, according to Roger in an interview his son blurted out Radio ca ca while the radio was on and perhaps a bad song was playing while they were in Los Angeles, I found on the internet the following information on what the song is about: Radio Ga Ga is about a nostalgic defense of radio, it was a commentary on television overtaking radio's popularity and how one would listen to radio in the past for a favorite comedy, drama, or science fiction program. It also addressed the advent of the music video and MTV, which was then competing with radio as an important medium for promoting records. That's part of what the song's about, really. The fact that music videos seem to be taking over almost from the aural side, the visual side seems to be almost more important. I hope that gives you an better understanding of Radio Ga Ga.
Queen G. O. A. T.
Nah, you have to watch the full Live Aid Queen concert, less than 30 minutes.
You should never play one song from Live Aid.
This is known as the greatest 20 minutes in our history.
72K people there. The song was written by drummer Roger Taylor and it's about the fact that less and less people were listening to the radio and instead watching MTV videos.
If you do Bohemian Rhapsody live, don't do it from Live Aid as that was a 20 minute set so only a couple of minutes of it are done. And as noted by others, you really need to do the entire Live Aid set -- and read up on what Live Aid was to really appreciate the significance of Queen's set being still considered the greatest live performance ever after nearly 40 years.
This is the song where Lady Gaga got her name from…..
Just stopping by to say I'm not going to watch this cuz I'm going to wait. Wait until you do the whole concert. It's 20 minutes. We used to watch sitcoms longer than that
Live Aid was only a 20 minute set so this song is sped up and only a tiny bit of Bohemian Rhapsody was performed. This concert needs to be done in its entirety, not broken up, it is only 22 minutes, just do the show, seriously! If you do decide to do the whole Queen set, make sure you choose the video that starts out with the comedic English Police. Some of the others stop abruptly or skip parts of songs.
Watch the whole set man. Geez.
❤ beautiful sweet Freddie 😍 liked subscribed 😍 please react to White queen live performance at odeon Hammersmith 🎉
Have you heard Don't Stop Me Now?
You need to listen instead of always trying to second guess a lyrics or meaning. For God's sake we never did that when we originally listened. We liked it then we got to know the tune. Just relax and just experience the show.
What a shame to put out pieces of Live Aid .
Nobody has ever done that! That’s like taking a piece of art and cutting it in pieces.
Original recordings are always best, you get to hear a song the way the artist intended it to be heard. Plus with many old bands such as The Stones or AC/DC there are hardly any original members left these days. Also Freddie WASN'T Queen!
A part of Queen ? without Freddie there would have been NO Queen...
Not going to watch this. Straight to the comments that you realllllllly need to do the full version!! I'll watch the 20+ min reaction!! 😅
I was never a big fan of Queen because I'm into hard rock and heavy metal but I have to say that this entire performance is the best performance by any band ever!!
You want to see a a unfathomable amount of people for one rock band pls check out Metallica in Moscow
It will blow your MIND!!!! pls check it I you haven't seen it
You should react to all of LiveAid otherwise it spoils the flow of the concert, I don’t understand why just pick one song, this is a ridiculous reaction!!!!
