A green day audience spontaneously broke out into this song and it was glorious take a look. This is a long song and it's so iconic that everyone can sing it all.
I’ve heard the covers of this song some better than others. But immediately I realized what was missing in them was the emotion and humor that Queen conveys. Also each member sounds unique and are easily identifiable. Queen is uniquely brilliant. ❤
Did you know this fact about Bo Rhap? This music video is actually the Very, Very first Rock / Pop video in the world ever. It was put together within 24 Hours to get it on BBCs Top Of The Pops, also it was the first 7 Min single to be braudcast and not 5 standard max length of single!
The intro (with just the four faces) is actually Freddie Mercury doing the four part harmony all by himself and mixing the four tracks together, yes he's that talented!!
They argued with the record company over it as they were told it was too long to get radio play and using opera was questioned . Freddie and Queen stuck their ground

This is one of the most mysterious songs ever. There are several theories about the meaning of Bohemian Rhapsody, but Freddie never explained his lyrics, especially not this one, it remains his secret forever. Please, check out You Take My Breath Away at Hyde Park 76, just Freddie and his piano.
Don t miss "Barcelona" with opera singer Montserrat Caballé, for the 1992 Olimpics Games in that city, was recorded 1987, he knew he was not going to make it to 1992... beautiful song, majestic!
Queen is a British rock band that was formed in 1970 and was comprised of: Freddie Mercury - Lead vocals and piano Roger Taylor - Drummer and vocals Brian May - Lead guitar and vocals John Deacon - Bass guitar Queen has released 15 studio albums, 10 live albums, 16 compilation albums, two soundtrack albums, 2 extended plays, 73 singles, and seven promotional singles. "Bohemian Rhapsody", which was released originally in 1975, is the creation of Freddie but he never told anyone what he was thinking when he wrote the lyrics. Freddie tended to write in metaphors and this is one of them. He wanted listeners to be able to apply to the song whatever meaning it had to them personally. Not what it meant to him. BTW - Freddie did admit that "Bohemian Rhapsody" was composed of three separate songs that he had been working on but could not seem to finish. So he decided to mash them together, adding some transitions and bridges, and created "Bohemian Rhapsody". "Bohemian Rhapsody" can be broken down into 6 parts: Part I is the "Into". The video image shows the four members of Queen singing and harmonizing the lyrics of the "Intro" in A cappella. In reality, it is only Freddie's voice you hear on the recording. Freddie laid down 5 separate tracks of himself singing and harmonizing with himself. (FYI - multi-tracking and overdubbing runs rampant in Bohemian Rhapsody.) Next is the "Ballad" portion of the song ('Mama, just killed a man'). Freddie had worked on it for years but the song never had a name. The other members of Queen tentatively titled it "Freddie's Cowboy Song". The lyricist Tim Rice (who wrote the lyrics for "Jesus Christ, Superstar", "Evita", "Aladdin", "The Lion King", ...) was a close friend of Freddie's and he believes this portion of the song’s lyrics were about Mercury confessing to his fans that he was gay. The third section is the guitar solo. This is the only part of Bohemian Rhapsody not written by Freddie. Freddie told Brian that he wanted a guitar solo in the song and where he wanted it to fit into the song but left it to Brian to create. Brian wanted to have his guitar effectively sing a verse that would inject a different melody. He heard something in his head. He said that he could hear this melody and had no idea where it came from. That melody isn’t anywhere else in the song, but it’s on a familiar chord sequence, so it dovetails in quite nicely. The guitar solo leads to the fourth section which is the "Operatic" section. Freddie not only loved Rock but he loved Opera. He was always fascinated with the idea of combining rock and opera. It took an accumulation of 3 weeks at 6 different studios to record "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the "Operatic" section was much smaller when they began recording but Freddie kept adding to it. Various lyrics in the "Operatic" section seem to refer to the band... * Freddie casts himself as Scaramouch, a stock clown of 16th-century Italian literature. *.Galileo refers to Brian with his BSc degree in physics and later his Ph.D.in Astrophysics. * Figaro refers to the Mozart opera, "The Marriage of Figaro" and it is a subtle way to reference Roger who has a four-range vocal span (E2-E6) and was even frequently cited as hitting E5 in live performances. Freddie compared Roger's voice to a dog whistle. * The final reference of Magnifico is John who has not just a BSc but a First Class Honors Degree in Electronics. It is hard to realize that it is only Freddie, Brian, and Roger singing in the "Operatic" section (John never sang on the records). This was 1975, well before digital recordings and they were using 24-track analog tape. This made it necessary for the three to overdub themselves many times and "bounce" these down to successive sub-mixes. Some sections feature 180 separate overdubs! The fifth section is the "Hard Rock" portion. In this section, Freddie sings angry lyrics addressed to an unspecified "you", accusing them of betrayal and abuse and insisting "Can't do this to me, baby", before the final lines conclude with him singing, "Just gotta get right outta here". (FYI - the "Operatic" and the "Hard Rock" sections of BoRap were featured in a scene in the 1992 film Wayne's World, in which the main character and his friends headbang in a car to the rock part.) In the sixth and final section, the "Outré", returns to the "Ballad" to close the circle of the song and ends with the sound of a Chinese gong.
I never thought about what this song might be about. It’s lyrically so random. And yet so much fun to sing along with! Great reaction! More Queen please. 😊
Well, you just asked the question everyone wants the answer to! Freddie never said what it was about, but common concensus is it's Freddies realisation of his 'lifestyle' and the fact that he was gay ( just killed a man - killing off his past life etc). Fun fact - the beginning is not the group harmonising, it is Freddie, multi layering his own voice. The high pitch Gallileos are sung by the drummer, who does all the high harmonies for the group. You could try some of the music scores they did for Highlander (Gimme the Prize, Princes of the Universe, Who wants to Live Forever) or Flash Gordon (Flash), or some of their old bangers like Dragon Attack, Stone Cold Crazy, or some of the more melodic stuff like Save Me or You Take My Breath Away. You can even go quirky with Seaside Rendezvous or Millionaires Waltz - have fun - they have a song for every mood in most genres!
Excellent video reaction! It's a masterpiece for sure. That band member who sings the high notes is Queen's drummer Roger Taylor. He has an impressive falsetto singing voice. You'll see in a few other music videos by Queen. The entire band is talented you've yet to see what more they can do! I enjoyed your reaction video. ☮️
Freddie started composing this as a college student and the working title was The Cowboy Song. Bits and pieces of it became Bohemian Rhapsody. He left the song’s meaning to everyone’s interpretation. Many people think it’s about his realization of his sexual orientation…that the man killed in the song was his heterosexual identity. Perhaps, but considering he started writing this so young, I tend to disagree.
@@sandrabutler8483 Actually, it was referred to as "The Cowboy Song" before it was Mongolian Rhapsody. Because of the killing the man and all that, Freddie was actually writing about a young cowboy with that part of the song. Mongolian Rhapsody was actually going to be the name of the finished song but shortly before he finished it, Freddie decided he liked Bohemian Rhapsody better for the name of the song. There are lots of copies of lyrics most on little scraps of paper that are covered in doodles that Freddie was constantly doing. By the time the lyrics got onto one page each, there had been several piles of lyrics on scraps combined to make those. Freddie even said that originally he referred to it as "The Cowboy Song" and so did the band members.

The piano he has is gorgeous and according to Brian "It is a good one." I am certain that Freddie had quite a few pianos but I do recall seeing one at Garden Lodge as well.
@@sherryheim5504 two at Garden Lodge both were sold, Dr Sir Brian has sold his London home but hasn't actually moved he's still got his other home with Lady May with a huge garden where he can walk and work. I have a friend who knows Sir Brian and his wife and also had been friends with Fred and Roger, so information I give actually comes from the inside
Your journey down the Queen path cannot be complete without Bohemian Rhapsody. In fact, your journey into great MUSIC of the past cannot be complete without Bohemian Rhapsody! Bohemian Rhapsody, was released in 1975 on the album "A Night at the Opera" which gives a hint as to the musical genre. Freddie Mercury was a huge fan of opera so this song was written as an operatic suite consisting of five distinct parts: an acapella intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock section, and a reflective coda. Generally it is classified as rock-and-roll, but specifically as a "rock opera" and "progressive rock." Truth is, labeling any Queen song, or Queen the band, is next to impossible! "Bohemian" describes an unconventional, artistic style with freedom and individuality as key elements. "Rhapsody" in musical composition refers to a single work comprised of episodic, diverse pieces arranged into a free-flowing structure designed to heighten emotions. This song came to be because Freddie had pieces of songs he never completed, so he put them together, each section totally different yet masterfully blended into a truly epic masterpiece. It is the band's magnum opus, and is unanimously considered one of the best songs ever written. As for the meaning of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", Freddie was purposefully vague. As with most of the greatest songs, the lyrics are written to be poetic and mysterious. Are they literal or figurative? As separate pieces initially, should the song have a singular meaning? Who knows! The meaning is open to interpretation for each listener to decide, based on how the music and lyrics touched them. You will read comments claiming the song's meaning, but the fact is, the entire band has never stating a specific meaning and has been firm that there isn't one, or if Freddie DID have a specific interpretation, he never shared it. Any assertion of the meaning pertaining to Freddie's sexuality are speculative and because certain groups WANT that to be the meaning.
From what I understood, this song was about Freddie's life journey, coming out as bisexual, killing his own self as the person his parents knew, therefore disappointing his mother. Their record company didn't want to release it as a single because it exceeded the normal length of singles but they did it. There is no one that will ever out do Freddie and Queen when it comes to this particular song..
This actually was three different songs that Freddie had started writing well before recording this, but never completed any of them. Since they were all on a similar theme, he decided to combine them into a rhapsody. This song had several names before he finally settled on Bohemian Rhapsody. Mostly it had been referred to as "The Cowboy Song." What inspired this song was that the band was bankrupt due to poor management who had stolen money from them. Queen had had 3 successful albums and at least 3 successufl tours but they were all still living in the same little places they had before any of that happened and each only being paid around 20 Pounds a week. When they found out about their financial situation they fired their management which resulted in a law suit and Elton John's manager took on the band. He said he would finance them and for them to go into the studio and make the best album they could. This would be the album A Night At The Opera. Freddie knew he had to come up with something special or the band would be finished. So this is what he came up with. It also makes so much more sense than Freddie coming to terms with his sexuality because Freddie kept his personal life personal and it was not usually a part of his songs other than perhaps Don't Stop Me Now. If it was Brian who had written it instead, I would be looking for a personal connection because Brian's life experiences are painted everywhere across his songs.
Yes, the drummer, Roger Taylor, does have an amazing voice, too. I think the best example of his high range is in the song “In the Lap of the Gods”, (1974 at the Rainbow version). His part is near the middle to the end of the song. The guitarist, Brian May, has a great range too. Check out his version of “Too Much Love Will Kill You”. 💕💜💕💜💕💜
Well … welcome to the rabbit hole No escaping now. Once you realize the incomparable excellence of Queen you will be a forever fan … it’s almost sad how Queen gets into your system and you don’t want to ever let them go.
If you haven't, a must listen is Somebody to Love from the Queen performance in Montreal 1981. I spent my 24th B-Day there, 8 row and center floor. I could see the sweat on his brow! lol. This is one of his best performances hands down.
I’ve been listening to this song since it first came out. I was eleven years old & been listening for forty nine years. It just felt like I heard it for the first time. What a freaking treat this was.
Compared to the other music that was being listened to at the time, this song epitomized creativity. If you were an artist with a vision, at that time, you could give it a try. It didn't always work, but when it did, wow. Today, if the executives don't think it will make money, it will not be recorded.
Now go and check out Tommy Johansson's cover of this song. You liked Erik Grönwall's voice, so you will definitely like Tommy's voice as well! They both are our Swedish rock heros with so many cover songs here you youtube 🙂
Start at the beginning . You will not be sorry. Queen is the greatest rock and roll band of all time. Queen is Freddie and Freddie is Queen. Four musical Geniuses. Love your channel
No one actually knows, just Freddie, however it's three songs he just couldn't finish so put them together, the song is actually sung by just one person for the majority of what you hear, Roger has the high notes in the middle section, but it's just Freddie for the rest of it, there's a documentary about it on the official Queen channel " Inside The Rhapsody "
Yes, greatest song of all time! The more you listen to it, more and more layers of brilliance hit you. I get a kick that you have heard covers of it, but never the real thing. I have enjoyed some of the covers, others make me sick, but nothing compares to the original.
Clue is in the title dude. A rhapsody is a type of music one with multiple distinct parts. Bohemia used to be a country now relates to an alternative way or artistic way of living. The layout of the music is similar to virtually any hero overcomes adversity movie you’ve ever seen
Besides been the greatest Freddy degree in fashion design, Brian May professor in Astro physics, John Deacon masters in electrical engineering, Dalton masters in biology. Fyi Freddy is Indian.
Queen never performed the operatic segment live for obvious reasons . It could not be reproduced live . So many times they would pause there and play the audio and video on a screen behind them, then come back in live during the rocking portion. The song began as a mash up of three melodies Freddie was toying with . It is said that the lyrics represent Freddie coming out as Gay. He was VERY fearful of the response he would get not only from Family , but from their ever growing fan base at the time. The song especially the Operatic segment represents Freddie internal battle with who he really was. The Man that dies in the end is the Old Paranoid Freddie. And his final decision that " Nothing really Matters" except being who he really is.
Hi, new to watching your channel. You should watch this live in Montreal 1981 (same concert as Somebody to Love) if you haven't. The live performance are always such a powerhouse performance in comparison to the studio version.
What this video before or after he found out about his Aids? I was just curious if he was saying goodbye because of that & talking about his body in pain
Bottom line: He is telling his mother he is bisexual and the old him was killed .. and the opera section he says bismellah is an Arabic word meaning (in the name of God Allah) let me go he is referring to the oppression of Muslims in his own country to Zoroastrianism .. and the weird name Galileo is Italian astronomer and mathematician who was the first to use a telescope to study the stars .. it’s a complicated song .. answering your question

The band has always been tight tipped about the meaning of this song. Officially, "It means whatever you want it to mean"
That's the way Freddie liked it, he left it all up to the listeners. 👑🫶🌈💙
I’ve been listening to this song since it first came out. I was eleven years old & been listening for forty nine years.
It just felt like I heard it for the first time. What a freaking treat this was.
You should check out "The Show must go on" if you haven't done it already. Or "Who wants to live forever"
This is not a cover version of the song. This is the original song written by Freddie Mercury.
Where did he say it was a cover?
😊 the song is a masterpiece
THIS IS NOT A COVER THIS IS THE ORIGINAL. FREDDIE WROTE IT!!!!
Pure Freddie feeling
Compared to the other music that was being listened to at the time, this song epitomized creativity. If you were an artist with a vision, at that time, you could give it a try. It didn't always work, but when it did, wow. Today, if the executives don't think it will make money, it will not be recorded.
i'd say THIS, is a PERFECT song.
Freddy Mercury wrote this song. My opinion no one can sing this song. I like the real instruments in this song. REST IN PEACE FREDDY MERCURY ❤
You should watch Live Aid and remember that they were a last minute booking
Bought this album in 75
Really great reaction….😊
Yes, greatest song of all time! The more you listen to it, more and more layers of brilliance hit you. I get a kick that you have heard covers of it, but never the real thing. I have enjoyed some of the covers, others make me sick, but nothing compares to the original.
You need to react to Fat Bottomed Girls, White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975, In the Lap of the Gods live at the Rainbow.
Yes, Fat bottomed girls, live at Milton Keynes 1982. Great live performance!!!
Don’t forget Someone to Love live Montreal. 1981
Clue is in the title dude. A rhapsody is a type of music one with multiple distinct parts. Bohemia used to be a country now relates to an alternative way or artistic way of living. The layout of the music is similar to virtually any hero overcomes adversity movie you’ve ever seen
Besides been the greatest
Freddy degree in fashion design, Brian May professor in Astro physics, John Deacon masters in electrical engineering, Dalton masters in biology.
Watch the movie Bohemian Rapsody.
Rock opera
React to Dragon Attack - Milton Keynes. Please.
Excellent reaction

The Milton Keynes version is better.
You mustakes see Inueendo soooou é
I'm also a poor boy from a poor family
do the not remastered version, it is more pure
Whatch the movie
He was coming out as bi
What this video before or after he found out about his Aids? I was just curious if he was saying goodbye because of that & talking about his body in pain
Around 12 years prior.
Have you listen to Tommy Johansson covers? ABBA QEEN, Gary Moore etc. He is the god of music. Best ever.
Sorry but nobody can cover Queen! 😮
Try this muppets v Queen split screen same song
personally I do not like cover songs..... I think it often dishonors the original performers.
