The realisation that comes over young people's faces "This is a Queen song? I had no idea Queen did this. I know this song !!" cracks me up every time 🤣🤣
What he said 👆
😂
My favorite is the 1st time they hear Bohemian Rhapsody! The look on their faces is priceless!
It never fails to bring a smile to my face 😊
I jump to the end of A Little Thing Called Love to watch the reaction.😊
AND poor Freddie had a severe throat infection and his doctors advised him to not perform. Just incredible. Each group had 20 minutes to perform before the power would get cut. Queen got their set down to perfection… if you watch closely at the end, there is a yellow light on and the red one is blinking… they stop right as the yellow light goes off and the red light goes solid. Perfect
I swear I think Freddy timed it down to the second! LOL
And I was there... I sang...danced ..laughed and cried for 10 hours... it was the best concert EVER!!
You deserve a Gold medal for the best experience in centuries. And the green envy of all of us
Live Aid was a concert of many bands. Queen performed their set at the old Wembley Stadium in London, its estimated that there was 75-80 thousand people in that stadium, but Live Aid was a global concert, which received a viewership of over 1 billion people worldwide. Out of all the artists and bands, Queen stole the whole show
Queen was the best band EVER. Their versatility was unmatched, and Freddie was a magical being.
They were all magical beings from a far, far away magical galaxy who chose our generation to share their talents with. There's an odd pride in that. ❤
The stadium was sold out which is said to have been 72,000 though I have heard from some of the concert officials that because people on the grass area were standing instead of sitting that there were 80,000. Each band was allowed 20 minutes to do their set. This was not a Queen crowd as all the tickets were sold before Queen was confirmed to be on the bill, however, it is a home town crowd for Queen as they were a British band from London. This is an iconic set for Queen and the concert was a charity event for aid for the famine in Ethiopia. Set list: Bohemian Rhapsody (Mercury), Radio Ga-Ga (Taylor), Aay-Oh (call and response), Hammer To Fall (May), Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Mercury)(Freddie's tribute to Elvis that he wrote after Elvis had passed), We Will Rock You (May), We Are The Champions (Mercury). Brian wrote We Will Rock You and Freddie wrote We are The Champions. They wanted songs that the audience could participate with and this is what they created. Now everyone in the world has probably heard these two songs at some point.
Wembley stadium capacity at the time for even football was 90,000.
Without people on the pitch/grass.
72,000 people at Wembley. No sound check before going on, and the crowd were not all Queen fans (lots of other acts performing on the day) yet Freddie Mercury commanded them all! Freddie had a throat infection and was advised by doctors not to perform...and he STILL nailed it!!
He’s strutting. We love that. And playing with the cameraman
In case no one told you, all of the members of Queen also have university degrees
Roger - biology
John - electronics with first class honors
Brian - PhD in astrophysics and has worked with NASA
Freddie - graphic design and illustration (he designed the Queen logo, the queen crest with a phoenix on top, representing immortality)
Freddie had 70,000 people at wembly and 1.8 billion people around the world in the palm of his hand that day. I watched this Epic performance with my Dad I was 15 my Dad was 40. I was already a huge Queen fan but that day my Dad became a huge fan as well. Great memories. RIP dear Freddie you are missed and loved til this very day❤
Omg young man..this has been by far one of the best queen reactions that I've seen .I'm an older lady from London who is a massive queen fan and was at that concert..I've always said that that 21 minutes was the best ever, and I've never forgotten how I felt seeing them that day ❤️...
Love your reaction. The pure joy on your face was so sincere. Dont worry no ones laughing at you,we old timers just love seeing your face when you realize you have been listening to Queen at every sporting event. Keep on going down the rabbit hole and you will find all their hidden gems.
All Queen fans will take the journey with you. Once a fan, always a fan. Great reaction. 😁👍🏾
That is SOO true. I think he would be shocked to know that whole new generations are being introduced to and loving him!! He could have never guessed!!!
EVERYONE says that! They know the song. You'll know the next one too .. But didn't know it was queen. WE DID! 😊
Don't feel bad. We forgive you. Now you know. You're about to go down then queen rabbit hole and its SO MUCH FUN!!!!!
Can you hear the audience singing with Freddie and to Freddie. We were blessed to have Queen.
If I'm laughing it's with joy and happiness to see you at magic moment when you realize...OMG! This is Queen! You can see why people call this the greatest live rock performance ever. Now you've so much more to discover. Welcome to the Queen rabbit hole!
Hahaha, I love it. "Queen made this!????". Yes they did. Queen and Freddie were the creme de la creme. We'll never see anything like it again. They have soooo much in their catalogue you're gonna LOVE - even if it's not very well known.
THANKS FOR THE GREAT REACTION❤❤❤QUEEN, THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME❤❤❤
TH-cam needs a love button for reactions. I could go on and on about this performance to just Queen in general. What made Queen special was this band was for all of us nobody's. They were part of us. A true testament to how special they were back then, continues with you today. You have known and sung their songs and now you know who to credit. Love your reactions.
When Queen got backstage David Bowie, who was the next performer, declared, “How the huck am I to follow that!?” (Or something to that effect.)
We Will Rock You was shortened to fit the time allotment so check out the Official Video.
I think it was Elton John, but no matter 😊😊😊😊
David did say that he was the next act after Queen a hard act to follow. Elton said you using the b word you stole the show.
I am so glad this! The one's you did not know were Hammer to Fall and A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, which is his tribute to Elvis. Thanks for doing this.
Not a tribute to Elvis. Freddie Mercury WROTE IT!
@@janetshannon7958 he wrote as a tribute
Freddie got on stage and took over that concert! There were several bands that performed at Live Aid but Queen stood out head and shoulders above the rest that night!
We're thankful that you saw the whole concert and not the version that cuts Freddie off mid song in We Are The Champions. There is a live version of Hammer To Fall which was at Wembley Stadium, where this Live Aid concert is set, which took place on 11th July 1986. it IS BRILLIANT!
Greatest live set in rock n roll history…
Funny how people who've never heard of Queen and react to Bohemian Rhapsody know all the words and guitar solo by the time they react to the Live Aid concert. One taste and they dive head first down that rabbit hole. Love it!
Of course you know Queen! IMHO the greatest rock band ever& this performance is considered the greatest live performance ever by many! The 2nd is my all time favourite, Hammer to Fall & the 3rd one is Crazy Little Thing Called Love written as a tribute to Elvis! Liked & subscribed, more Queen pls, any Queen song is a good song & they were almost always better live! Pls react to Somebody To Love, live at Montreal, it will blow you away! Love from Australia 🇦🇺
When Queen gets into your heart and soul, there's no stopping them! They are with you for life! 💙👑🌈 edit I posted this before watching to the end. I believe your reaction is my all time favorite when it comes to " discovering " Queen again! I'm sure I'll be watching this one from time to time just for the joy in it.
Too see a Large Queen crowd, review Love of My Life, Rock in Rio. There are 250,000 in attendance. Plus the crowd takes over and sings the song to Freddie.
Sou do Rio e realmente a chegada do Queen foi uma loucura na época, eles foram a atração principal do festival que contou com a presença de ozzy,Iron ,AC/DC entre outros grandes.
I can't stand when reactionaries sing, but I'm a Grandma and you are adorable and entertaining. You sing if you want to!!!
Thank for this tribute to the great freddie...
This is a small crowd compared to their Rock in Rio concert. Look up Love of my Life Rock in Rio and watch that one. That one also shows you how well Freddie controlled the crowds.
I have never forgotten the first sight of that crowd moving together as one. Over the days after the concert I played the tv recording of Radio Gaga over and over again! Magic!
If you want to see him in a different light, watch a performance of “Barcelona” and, especially, “Days of our lives”! Very emotional. 😢
Crazy Little Thing Called Love…I was 3 when this song came out and to this day still talk about how I thought he said “tinkle all over my motorbike” and not “take a long ride on my motorbike”🤣🤣🤣🤭
Loved seeing your joy in this reaction! Don't feel bad that you didn't know Queen sang those songs, you are young! I loved seeing you realize it though LOL...There's still a whole world of Queen to discover 😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much!!💙
Under Pressure and Who Wants To Live Forever both live from Wembley! Excellent reaction! The other two songs you didn’t know, were Hammer To Fall and Crazy Little Thing Called Love!
Legendary band with the greatest frontman to have ever graced a stage! ❤
Im so glad you enjoyed the live aid concert. Great reaction. Thank you.
SETLIST:
Beginning of Bohemain Rhapsody (written by Freddie)
Radio GaGa (written by Roger the drummer)
Call and response with crowd
Hammer to Fall (written by Brian and guitarist)
Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Elvis Presley inspried - written by Freddie in 15 mintues)
We Will Rock You (written by Brian and guitarist)
We are the Champions (written by Freddie)
Note: John the bassist also wrote songs. One of which is Another One Bites the Dust. He came up with the bass riff and the song was written around that riff.
I've watched so many reactions to this concert, and you are the 1st to comment on the microphone action 😉. I was beginning to think i was the only one to notice!!
Oh wow!😂
Bro your reactions come from the heart. you also really analize and want to get to the core of the song. Gotta love it
Love your reactions! It makes me so happy that young people appreciate Queen!
The best band ever.. Legendary Queen Live Aid 1985.. Amazing
Others have probably told ya but the 4th track is Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Freddie famously wrote it in about ten minutes while having a soak in the bath between recording sessions in Munich in 1979 😆 He wrote it as a tribute to Elvis Presley who had passed away a couple of years before. In fact this track was Queen’s first NUMBER ONE in America on the Billboard Hot 100 😊
The 3rd song you didn’t know was “Hammer to Fall”, and the 4th was “Crazy Little Thing Called Love “. Freddy was a huge Elvis fan and wrote this one night in the tub, in honor of Elvis. I love watching young people realize that they do , in fact, know Queen. Don’t forget “Another One Bites the Dust”.
He sung this concert with Laryngitis. Also 1.8Billion watched live around the world!
I recently got to see Queen + Adam Lambert. It was CLEAR that Adam knew that he was not Freddie, but he is a fabulous vocalist, GREAT concert that paid homage to Freddie a few times throughout.
I told a co-worker I got tickets and was excited:
Her: I don't know who Queen is.
Me: Yes you do, you just don't know that you know.
Her: (look of confusion)
Me: (I stomp, stomp clamped a few times.) Do you know that?
Her: Of course, that's "We Will Rock You".
Me: That's a Queen song.
Her: What????? And "We Are the Champion"?
Me: Also Queen.
Her: I guess I DO know Queen!
Bro youre a true Queen fan. Luve it
1.9 billion Saw rhis world wide. ♥️👍
72,000 people in that stadium and 1.9 millions of people watched live on TV worldwide. The whole concert was around 16 hours
thanks, HBK... "Hammer to Fall" was not well known, but a great rocker.. and featured the whole BAND (well, as did this concert.. everyone was FIRE... Brian on guitar, Roger on drums and vocals.. and John holding it all down with that incredible bass).. I'm so glad that I'm old enough to have seen them live a few times... appreciate your appreciation! (p.s.
Crazy little thing called Love" was where Fred played some rhythm guitar... it was a tribute to Elvis... many people think it actually an Elvis cover... but not at all a - Queen original...).. and oh, yeah, We will Rock you was written by guitarist Brian May.. and almost always followed up with "we are the Champions".. written by master Freddie!
70 plus thousand of your closest friends, plus second only live broadcast via satellite Worldwide...after Elvis Aloha from Hawaii...12 hour concert..Queen brought down the House!
4:54 Once upon a time there was a small box that was placed on a nightstand. The device had a Digital display of the current time in big Red numbers. It had a setting to set an Alert at a specific time, it could at the set time emit a LOUD annoying noise for several minutes or it could be set to emit Music. This device was called a Radio Alarm Clock. This song is a Love song to that Ancient Device. We LOVE you Radio.
Love watching people seeing the greatest concert 20 minutes ever recorded..of all the artists doing the live aid concert Queen owned it.. and still do UK love Queen and we always will. loved the reaction thanks
Consistently voted the best live rock performance! You should react to Another One Bites the Dust, another song many people don’t know is a Queen song!
❤Welcome to the awesome world of Englands other " her majesty"Queen. Guaranteed once a Queen fan always a Queen fan.❤🤴
3rd song after Freddie’s EH OH interaction with the crowd is Hammer To Fall 🎸😊
The song you asked about is "Hammer to Fall" written by Brian May. The second one you asked about is "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". He wrote it in about 10 minutes while he was in the bath in a hotel in Germany. Queen didn't just perform these songs, they also wrote them/
You are officially hooked! How many times have you watched it since your saw it!! 🤷♀️😊
A magical 25 mins, of probabky the best live performace ever.
Great reaction. Subscribed
Wembly held 72,000 for sporting events. There have to be almost that many in what would normally be the playing field. Freddie had laryngitis the week before this concert, his doctor recommended that he cancel his appearance and rest his voice but he ignored the advice and went on to make rock history.
Live Aid had many bands. 80k in the stadium. 1 billion viewing on tv
A whole new generation don't realise how much they know Queen, and all the legendary songs they wrote and sang that are still played 50+ years on. I'd love to watch you react to Another One Bites The Dust. I think you may recognise part of that too!!
David Bowie said.... How the hell do I follow that? Only one Queen in the country that day. Miss you Freddie. ❤
It makes me laugh when we're asked what song it is when he tells you it at the beginning lolol😂 hammer to fall
The greatest band of all time and that is the single greatest live performance of all time ❤❤
With over 200 songs in their catalog there is a lot of Queen you have no ides that they sang.
I am a 60+ year old uk man,I was at the show, there was I think 83000 there and a billion+ watched on tv
Live Aid was a duel-venue concert held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London (audience of 72,000) and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia (audience of 90,000) that was connected and broadcast over 13 satellites worldwide to an audience of over 1.9 Billion. The purpose of the concert was to raise money to aid Ethiopia which was suffering from 2-year drought.
There were 75+ acts, each allotted a 20-minute slot to perform. The UK line-up included Status Quo,, David Bowie, Elton John, Wham!, Sting, U2, The Who, Paul McCartney, and Bob Geldof with his band The Boomtown Rats. The US bill included Madonna, Eric Clapton, Duran Duran, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, Led Zeppelin, and Tom Petty. Phil Collins played in both London and then caught the Concord Supersonic Jet and flew to perform again in Philly.
Live Aid did not have a Queen audience. All of the tickets to Wembley were sold before Queen was announced to be part of the venue. At this time, Queen was considered to be an old band (they had been performing since 1971.) Those in the audience came to see groups like U2 and Wham!
Also, remember the Live Aid at Wembley concert began at 12:00 London time (the Philly concert began 5 hours later), so the audience had been there in the sun and heat for nearly 7 hours by the time Queen performed.
Paul Gambaccini, who was part of the BBC broadcasting team at Live Aid, recalled the awe among other superstar musicians watching backstage. “Everybody realized that Queen was stealing the show,” said Gambaccini. These were the very words Elton John uttered when he rushed into Freddie’s trailer after the set. “You bastards, you stole the show,” joked the charismatic star.
“Queen smoked ’em. They just took everybody. They walked away being the greatest band you’d ever seen in your life, and it was unbelievable,” said Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters. “And that’s what made the band so great; that’s why they should be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands of all time because they could connect with an audience.”
Queen's playlist was:
1. Bohemian Rhapsody (just the ballad and guitar portion)
2. Radio Ga Ga (the song that inspired Lady Ga Ga's name)
3. Freddie's Call and Response
4. Hammer to Fall
5. Crazy Little Thing Called Love
6. We Will Rock You (just the first verse and guitar solo)
7. We Are The Champions
Freddie wrote "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" while bathing in his Berlin hotel. It took him about 10 minutes to write it. He was inspired and yelled for someone to bring him a guitar which he used to write the song. (Roger said he never understood how Freddie got that damn guitar in the tub.) He wrote it as a tribute to Elvis Presley.
Not only does Freddie play a guitar on stage during this song (the only song in which he does) but Brian uses 3 different guitars during the song. He started with his eclectic acoustic guitar, then switched to a Fender Telecaster, and finished with his homemade Red Special guitar. th-cam.com/video/0ORIoUohBUc/w-d-xo.html
Hammer to Fall was a song about Russia and the oppression of it's people. The hammer, or sickle, was a symbol of their regime. Hence, it's time for the hammer to fall.
3rd song: falling hammers
4th song: crazy little thing about love
I love your reaction so much ❤
Hey kiddo! Lover ur reaction. So happy
Each band had 20 minutes to perform
Loved loved loved your reaction!! Thank you 🎉
Not to mention he had strep throat and said it felt like razors singing.
This was a charity/benefit concert, it was part of 2 SIMULTANEOUS concerts being held at Wembley Stadium, London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
It all started when a BBC NEWS report out of Ethiopia, Africa reported a CATASTROPHIC FAMINE sweeping the country, late summer/early fall of 1984. It was heartbreaking in the extreme.
Among the millions of British viewers watching this was Irish singer-songwriter Bob Geldof who was a shocked and saddened as the rest of us. It prompted him to pick up the phone to his friend the singer-songwriter Midge Ure from the band Ultravox with the idea of recording a record to raise funds to send to Ethiopia. They figured if they could write an original song then there’d be no royalty fees to pay to third parties. So they hurriedly wrote the song Do They Know It’s Christmas bringing in as many of the top mainly British and European recording artists as they could get to record it calling the group Band Aid. They initially thought they might raise as much as £80-100K. They raised £8MILLION!!
A few months later (around March ‘85) a slew of mainly American recording artists formed USA For Africa and recorded We Are The World.
After the big success of these two records Bob G and Midge wondered how they could match or better what they’d already done and LIVE AID was the result.
Two simultaneous concerts 1000’s of miles apart over 8-10 hours with an estimated tv viewing audience of 2 billion or more, it was a MASSIVE undertaking logistically and technically as satellite television was still in its infancy (and there was no internet yet).
Each act was restricted to just a 21 minute set and it is universally accepted that Queen gave the best live performance from anyone anywhere anytime that day.
In fact David Bowie was slotted to be next on stage after Queen and reportedly stated the obvious by saying “how the fuck do you follow that?!! It was also reported that Elton John told Freddie Mercury “you bastards stole the ducking show!!” 😊
Nobody can ever replace Freddie
Queen is top [name your number] (less than 5) bands of the ages. Prove me wrong 😊 carry on!
And I've heard LiveAid was sold out before Queen was even announced as a participating band, not even a Queen crowd, just music lovers!
You did it! 👍💥
Also other bands live in Philadelphia.
It was simultaneously held at Wembley in London and at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia with live performances at both venues. All were televised. I watched all day and night. At the end of the concert Brian May and Freddy Mercury came back out for an encore and performed “Is this the World We Created?” I have, in my collection, ticket stubs from both venues. th-cam.com/video/riwDo7_GxjM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=70pTg1yNeprB9efP
Treat yourself and react to Somebody to Love Montreal ‘81 and anything from the ‘86 Wembley concert. These 4 men were truly magical together 💛💛💛💛. New subscriber- loved your reaction!
They love him. He was the goat.

“Ay‐Oh” /”Hammer to Fall” (watch)
“Crazy Little Thing Called Love” (watch)
“We Will Rock You” (watch)
“We Are the Champions” (watch) _____
“Is This the World We Created…?” ( watch)
To give people some idea of just how good Queen was that day, the legendary David Bowie who was on next after them was heard by a reporter to exclaim "how the fuck am I supposed to follow that?", also when Freddie Mercury was asked "which instrument do you play?", Freddie replied "the audience darling", there will never be another Freddie.
RIP Freddie and David Bowie. I'm sure you are entertaining everyone in heaven. ❤❤
Im giggling a little just little😂😂😂😂
You and I are the same age. We were 15 years old!!! We grew up in the best decade ever!
@@mcm0324 Yup Absolutely the best decade. The younger generation can never understand the freedoms of the 70s and 80s♥️
Queen songs to check out:
Killer Queen 1974, Sheer Heart Attack 1974, Tie Your Mother Down 1976, You're My Best Friend 1976, Don't Stop Me Now 1978, Let Me Entertain You 1978, Rock It (Prime Jive) 1980, Coming Soon 1980, Dragon Attack 1980, Need Your Loving Tonight 1980, Save Me 1980, Another One Bites the Dust 1980, Play the Game 1980, Sail Away Sweet Sister 1980
Welcome to Queen world!
I minded you and subscribed 😂
Love your reactions to Queen. Every song performed in the 1971 montreal live show was amazing. Try from this show Save Me, Dragon Attack, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Keep, Yourself Alive, Love Of My Life....really all from that concert
A few suggestions for you to react to - tho maybe already suggested! Aaaanyway 😂 'In The Lap of the Gods', live at Hammersmith; 'Save Me', in Montreal; 'Another One Bites The Dust' - studio and live versions. Could go on forever lol
Roughly 72,000 were in Wembly Stadium for this performance.
"Under Pressure" from the Wembley concert is one of my favourites, partly for Freddie's famous call-back at the beginning. In fact, anything from Wembley would be great, including the three for the price of one video of "In The Lap Of The Gods"/"Seven Seas Of Rhye"/"Tear It Up". that will show you just how mad Freddie's piano playing was.
Best rabbit hole e-v-e-r... Enjoy
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Freddie Mercury was the Real Deal. He wrote his own songs, he can sing, play the guitar, play the piano, crowd control at 1 million. All four members have attended universities: Mercury had a degree in graphic design and illustration; May has a degree in physics and has done graduate work in astronomy; Taylor has a degree in biology; Deacon earned a degree in electronics with first-class honors. Even dead Freddie STILL has not peaked. Freddie died back in 1991... 32 YEARS after he went to Eternity he is still watched. 78,000 people following Freddie's direction. Freddie was the Original Extrovert.
When Freddie went to Eternity he left a hole in the fandom. Somehow the fans got it in their heads if enough people sang Bohemian that Freddie would return ; this is one attempt : th-cam.com/video/cZnBNuqqz5g/w-d-xo.html
Crazy Little Thing Called Love was a number one song and there’s a good video for it too 👍
Legends
Queen wasn't scheduled to play Live Aid. What a loss that would have been.
Listen to "Another one bites the dust" that will really hit you 😉
