The drummer is Roger Taylor. His voice is just lovely and works so well with Freddy.
In this performance, I think Roger sounds a lot like Rod Stewart.
@emergentartistsgroupllc1810 you're 1st person I've seen whi has said Roger sounds like Rod.thats what I think everytime I hear him sing.thought I was going nuts lol
All four members of the band are completely in the zone and in sync with one another - such a tight performance.
Freddie is just Freddie. That's what makes him special in the world of music.
"He had a wonderful touch on the piano, Freddie. Really he didn’t think he did, you know? He was very depricating about his piano playing and in later years really didn’t do any of it. He played less and less piano, because he wanted to run around and deliver it to the audience, which he did so magnificently. He didn’t have the classical range, but he could play what came from him, inside him, like nobody else -with incredible rhythm, incredible passion and feeling.” - Brian May
If you’ve never seen or reacted to the Live Aid concert performance by Queen… That’s a truly dynamic performance.
The best frontman and showman ever.
If you haven't seen their 1985 LiveAid performance - just WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No better 20 minutes of live performance
Roger Taylor is the drummer and he wrote Radio Gaga.
Also completely self- taught!
Outstanding performance of this song by the entire band. Freddie was so dynamic, I miss him so much and am grateful for all the music he left behind for us. Drummer is Roger Taylor. People think he sounds a lot like Rod Stewart but Roger has an incredible falsetto that Rod does not.
You know, you can talk until your tongue dried up & fell off & you still couldn’t say enough about Freddie & Queen. There’s just not enough words to describe their incredible talent. Phenomenal, extraordinary, incredible…….they just don’t do it. Pure serendipity is what they were. 🖤🎶🖤
No point in just picking certain songs from LiveAid, you need to checkout Queen whole 22 minute I I flamboyant legendary performance, reacting to one song spoils the flow of the concert, Queen at LiveAid is considered to be the best performance from a live band ever, Freddie has the crowd of 72,000 in the palm of his hand, I actually attended LiveAid at Wembley Stadium in 1985, and many of Queens live concerts, great reaction thanks 🙏
The Queen catalog is over 200 great songs. Do not dare cutting Live Aide into segments. Its meant to be heard completely in one seating. And yes, people will listen to the entire 22 minutes.
THIS IS THE LAW.
All members of the band have written multiple number 1 hits. They are the only band that can say each member wrote 1 hit much less multiple hits. Brian May and his father built his guitar when he was young from scratch with things found around the house. 50 years later and it still is his main guitar. I have 6 of their concerts on dvd and have been to countless concerts (not Queen unfortunately) and have never seen a band that makes it feel like every song they perform is an event. They were perfectionists and believed they owed their audience that. They never truly got all the accolades they deserved.
Freddie Mercury - piano and lead singer
Sir Brian May PhD - guitar and occasional piano/keyboard, backing singer and occasional lead singer
John Deacon - Bass guitar and other random instruments as required.
Roger Taylor - drums and backing singer, occasional lead singer.
All 4 have written no 1 hits.
I'd like to see you react to the official video for 'Princes of the Universe' - written by Freddie as part of the Queen soundtrack for the 1984 film 'Highlander'
I’m so happy to hear you reacting to the greatest rock and roll band then and still QUEEN. My suggestion would be to start in the 70s where they began . They are a legendary live band and best known for their on stage performances. Thankyou so much love your channel
They released this 1981 Montreal concert in IMAX a few months ago. As close as you can come to feeling like you saw them live!!
Like being on stage with them 🎵
I wanna see that! I saw Soundgarden on IMAX and it was incredible!
My favorite Queen song in the world! Freddie penned this beauty inspired by his love for Aretha Franklin, hoping one day she would sing one of his songs! Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody was also written by Freddie & most critics have stated, it’s a masterpiece! Yes it’s a great song, but Freddie felt that Somebody To Love was a better composition! ❤❤
Dragon Attack from this same concert was amazing
Anything from Wembley 1986 concert. It was their crowning achievement
Totally agree. Wembley was fire!
If anyone found their calling in life , it's Freddie, he was born to be a musician and front man.
Freddie didn't sing songs, he performed songs with real feeling and passion in every line.
The incomparable Roger Taylor was/is a beast on drums and vocals. Brian May was named by Guitar World last year as the greatest guitarist still living. They both are going strong well into their seventies. John Deacon on bass is phenomenal and wrote Another One Bites The Dust. Anything live by Queen is going to be excellent...Live Aid is mandatory. Anything from Wembley 86...Tie Your Mother Down, A Kind Of Magic and Radio GaGa(both written by Roger) In The Lap of the Gods Revisited. All complete fire❤️👑🎸🎤🎹🥁
Craziest part is this was only song 4 of the set (21 songs + 2 encores) The entire Montreal concert is worth checking out as well.
It is said the Freddie wears a Superman t-shirt and Superman wears a Freddie t-shirt. I say amen to that.
Rumour has it that the moment Freddie get up to interact with the audience you can see Brian May walking off stage - and that was apparently to replace a broken string. Done so quickly it must be similar to a pit-stop in a Formula 1 race tyre change lol. You can spot Freddie watching him leave, then looking over his shoulder shortly after to watch him return to the mike, all without missing a single beat! Absolute Legends
The longest break Brian takes from playing is 10 seconds; a broken string seems unlikely.
@@thewonkyembouchure I know - I'm at a loss to know what other reason there was. It was definitely an exit from stage, and Freddie was concerned about the return. Having said that - have you ever watched a tyre change on Formula 1 !!
You need to react to queens entire live aid performance. All the reactors do.
Their live aid performance is deemed as the best live rock performance ever!!!
For some funky Queen react to Dragon Attack from this same Montreal concert.
Only one Freddie RIP
Love your reaction please keep enjoying queen and I will be here too
Nobody captivates an audience like Freddie can, all 4 members are incredibly talented musicians. Roger Taylor is the drummer with an amazing voice. His son Rufus Taylor (looks a lot like his Dad) is the drummer for the band Darkness
In performance of this song from Milton Keynes 1982 Freddie found even better way to finish it out. My favorite performance. Check it out.
My fave live performance of STL too!! 🔥🔥
All four members of Queen are college graduates...all four members wrote songs. Freddie Mercury is the lead singer, Roger Taylor on drums, Brian May on lead guitar, and John Decan on bass. They have a very diverse catalog well worth diving into. Freddie is considered the best rock frontman in history with the best vocal range. Take a listen to Innuendo, The Show Must Go On, the live performance of Who Wants to Live Forever from their concert in Budapest.
Last comment. I promise. 15 years ago I was going through a divorce and it was bad. I wanted to unalive myself. I found reasons daily not to but it was a struggle. I'd heard the name Freddie Mercury too just as you say, and I too had NO IDEA Freddie was a part of Queen. I am a straight man, but I absolutely fell in love with Freddie. Queen and Freddie became my reasons for not unaliving myself. You've heard WAY more Queen and Fred than you think, I promise. In fact, I'd bet you can't go more than 3 days without accidentally hearing Freddie's voice: Every stadium, every sports game I've ever attended or watched has played Queen and/or Freddie's "Aaaayo!" chant. Commercials still play Queen music. Start looking at their catalog of music and you'll be SHOCKED. We Will Rock You, We are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another one Bites the Dust... man, the list goes on and on! And the tragic history of Freddie and his horribly cruel death is enough to make you fall in platonic love with the man!! It sure did for me.
Pushed like bcos of song choice alone. PHENOMINAL. ❤
We ALL rock with Freddie! I'm happy you first listened to the studio version. That's the way us older fans were introduced to music. We heard it on our radio!
In 1970, the first song played at their first gig as Queen was "Stone Cold Crazy". It was recorded for their 3rd album in 1974. I suggest checking it out live at The Rainbow in 1974.
Thanks!
You will hear about the classics they do which you will love. Try out '39, Budapest Medley with Hello Mary Lou, and Love of My Life Live anywhere. Queen is my #1 and sawnthem live 4 times including 1981 in Montreal. Then try Boston's first album. My #2 Album of all time
This song was a homage to Aretha Franklin - Freddie was a big fan.
You can feel that gospel/soul/rhythm & blues in it.
If you want to hear Roger Taylor (drummer) as lead, "I'm in Love with My Car" from this concert won't disappoint.
Dragon Attack same concert live Montreal 81 is another great performance 😊 loved your reaction 😊 God bless
They all tour now with Adam Lambert... check it out also ! He does a wonderful job. ❤❤❤❤
I so agree !!!.....i've been a big fan of Adam's since way back in the AI stage.....love the man's voice !!....plus very handsome !! 😉😜
As many said drummer is Roger Taylor but for him to be familiar to you at that age is either cos you saw him on other videos of Queen or you recognise his son Rufus Taylor - also a drummer for band called Darkness .
i also think he looks like Benjamin Orr from the Cars.....RIP
This was Freddie’s gospel song With Aretha Franklin in mind, he loved her.
Freddie is the best voice we will ever have in our Entire universe.
Try 'in my defence' it was a solo project that Freddy did. John and Brian also have great solo projects
Thanks, Duane.. Freddie was inspired when he wrote this song by Aretha Franklin.. so you can get how he "took us to church".. with the call-backs.. the entire BAND, though.. c'mon give it up for the bass, guitar and drummer (also vocals from guitarist Brian May and especially, in this case, drummer Roger Taylor... ) appreciate your reaction!
You gotta watch the legendary performance by Queen at Live Aid..
4:50 ***THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR CONTEXT!!!*** Freddie's best instrument has always been considered the audience. He plays the audience better than anything and anyone. You need to know that this concert almost never got released because the recording company edited out most of the audience interaction. When the band reviewed the footage they rejected it, citing that audience participation was actually PART of the Queen experience and they wanted it back. The recording company either refused or had already deleted or discarded what wasn't used in the final version. The band was livid and buried it for years. So just FYI, it looks like Freddie is trying to get the audience involved and nobody cares. THEY DID! So when you see Freddie speaking to the crowd, they're just as into it as the audience at every other concert & at Live Aid.
Freddie: watch as sound engineers deconstruct Freddie's voice and give you a scientific claim of "greatest ever." Freddie trained his vocal cords and false vocal cords to resonate together and you can clearly see how the man can LITERALLY sing two notes at once. As far as his piano skills are concerned, Freddie thought he was mediocre at best. I don't necessarily think Freddie was Beethoven level but I think if the two men sat next to each other, you'd have a hard time telling them apart. Sorry, it's true and I love Beethoven. To hear Freddie's unbelievable piano work, check out White Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon Christmas Eve 1975. You will forget it's live because it's truly breathtaking. I've never seen a live concert where someone is actually hitting the piano like he does and it's just.... perfection.
"Exercises in Free Love" is Freddie just playing the piano and singing. He doesn't sing words, he just sings sounds. Not humming, just... you have to figure it out for yourself.
Some say Queen is Classic Rock. Some say Folk. Most others claim rock, pop, or something like that. Personally, I think Queen music, especially with or ABOUT Freddie, needs to have it's own genre: it isn't ANY of the established genres, save maybe "other," or "none of the above." We can call it "Queen." There is very little sense in trying to assign this music a true genre because as soon as you say one thing, they have 10 songs that DON'T belong there.
I hope that you'll not only check out the live performances but also, check out the Official version as well.
Who wants to live forever, my favorite Queen number. Part of the sound track for the movie "Highlander" it could have been Freddie telling us that he knew his fate & accepted it.
drummer is Rodger Taylor
If someone will ask me pick one Queen song you like most, i will say i cant pick one all of them is a masterpice. Queen forever
This concert was professionally filmed and stands the test of time. Actually, it's been recently re-released. Enjoy it. As for the other one you mentioned, Live Aid, I recommend watching their whole Live Aid set in just one viewing. It's just 20 minutes & was designed to roll one song into the next until over. Really makes zero sense to view theIr participation in Live Aid as a single song at a time.
Show must go -( I guess that together with These are the days of our life )- song that he made just before his death, he knew he was uncurable at that time, you'll see that he is sick in the video yourself and as for me it takes Great Artist and Human to be so vulnerable and transparent before His fans in such a moment of one's life 🤍🤍🤍
Freddie Mercury lead singer piano, Dr. Brian May guitar vocals, Roger Taylor drums and vocals, John Deacon bass and some vocals. Welcome to Queen ❤
It's Sir Doctor Brian May now
Try "Love Of my LIfe" at Rock in Rio if you want to see crowd control. "Dragon Attack" will amaze you, too.
I love the Milton Keynes version of Somebody to Love - It's very different at the beginning.
By the way, Freddie Mercury - Best frontman ever by miles, singer, piano and guitar (and other instruments)
Sir Dr. Brian May - One of the best guitarists ever. Astrophysicist on the side. He built his guitar with his father from pieces of their fireplaces.
Roger Waters - Amazing drummer and singer.
John Deacon - Bass guitarist, funny guy.... although they were all funny.
The best 😂❤yeeees
the drummer is Roger Taylor and he’s one of a kind. The talent in all of them is amazing but Roger really makes it known here where he can sing and kill it on the drums both
You need to watch Live Aid set, all 22 minutes. Start to finish. It has a flow. Don’t just pick out songs to do. The impact they had at that concert was massive. If you watch it all the way through, you’ll see why. Really…do it. Many other reactors do it….you’ll appreciate it more that way.
Roger Taylor (the Drummer) reminds me of Rod Steward in this one.
I recommend "Barcelona", performed by Freddy and Montserrat Cabaye. It will blow your mind! 😊
George Michael sang this on the Queen Tribute concert in memory of Freddy Mercury and it is hard to imagine but he truly did it better IMO
You should watch the whole 20 minute live aid performance Queen did they stole the show you will LUV it
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Who Wants To Live Forever (video)Save Me (Montreal) I Want It All. Breakthrough (video) Live Aid. Don’t Stop Me ow.
Drummer is Roger Taylor fabulous singer and drummer I love that guy!
There are good singers, there are great singers and then there’s Freddie!
🔥
Freddy had a vocal range of four octaves.
How about Another One Bites The Dust or We Will Rock You
🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏
Shout out to Roger Taylor's drumming and vocals... Brilliant ❤❤❤❤
The drummer is Roger Taylor
Good luck picking songs.
They were the first band to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame because they all penned hits.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The only way to watch Live Aid is straight through from start to finish. Otherwise you would lose the energy.
God rest ! ❤❤ An absolute 💯 Genius ! Please watch the movie 🎬 Bohemian Rapsody. Incredible 😲
Freddy had to engage the crowd that .ong because had a broken string on his guitar he needed to go and repair. Gr
👍
Freddie Mercury founded Mercury records
Mercury Records was established in 1945; FM was born in 1946.
🪀🧿🧿🧿🪀🧿
Gra
The whole of the Live Aid set, please - doing it in bits actually ruins it.
this was Live with no autotune.......
Queen= 4 guys, not just freddie
